Page 2 of 23 Add Text You can add text to your page. Click the button on the toolbar. You will see a text box on the page. Move the cursor over the middle of the box. Click and drag the box to the upper left corner of the page.

Page 4 of 23 Move the cursor to the end of the text. Click and drag across the text to select it. You will see text options in the Options panel. Click the pull-down menu and choose the font you want to use. Click and drag the slider to the right to make your name larger. Add Stickers You can add stickers to a page. Click the button on the toolbar.
Page 5 of 23 You will see the Library panel. Click the category. You will see the Stickers folders.
Page 6 of 23 Click and drag the slider all the way to the bottom of the library folders. You will see the Weather folder. Click the Weather folder to open it.
Page 7 of 23 Find an image of one of the forms of severe weather. Click the sticker to add it to your page. You will see the sticker on the page.
Page 8 of 23 Move the cursor over the middle of the sticker. Click and drag the sticker to the place you want it on the page. Repeat this process to add other severe weather stickers to the page. Resize Stickers You can change the size of the stickers. Click a sticker to select it.
Page 9 of 23 Move the cursor over one of the green handles at the corners. Click and drag away from the image to make it larger. Click and drag toward the center of the image to make it smaller. Adjust the size of your stickers. Change the Color of the Canvas
Page 10 of 23 You can change the color of the page background. Click the page away from the text box and stickers. Click the button on the toolbar. You will see the Canvas Options. Click the color well. You will see the Select a Color dialog.
Page 11 of 23 Click a color. Click and drag the shade slider to make the color lighter or darker. Click the button.
Page 12 of 23 You will see the canvas fill with this color. Name the Project You can name your Wixie project. Click the button on the toolbar and choose. You will see the Rename Project dialog. Type a new name for your project. Click the button. Add a Page
Page 13 of 23 Wixie documents can contain more than one page. Click the button on the toolbar. You will see a new blank page. It will say Page 2 of 2 in the Status bar below the page. You can use the Next and Previous green arrows to move between pages. Practice Adding and Formatting Text On page two, you will define and illustrate one type of severe weather. Click the button on the toolbar. You will see a text box on the page. Type a definition for one type of severe weather.
Page 14 of 23 Use the skills you have learned to move the text box to the bottom of the page. Click and drag the handles to resize the box. While the box is selected, use the text options to change the font, size, and alignment of the text. Use the Paint Brush Tool You can use the Paint tools to draw lines, shapes, and details on a page. Click the button on the toolbar. The Pencil tool will be selected. You will see paint brush sizes and colors in the Options panel. Click a color on the color palette for ground or water.
Page 15 of 23 Click and drag the shade slider to make the color lighter or darker. Click and drag the Size slider to set the size of the brush. Click and drag a horizontal line across your page to create a horizon line.
Page 16 of 23 Make sure the line stretches from one side to the other. Click the button on the toolbar to try again. Use the Fill Tool You can fill an area on the page with color.
Page 17 of 23 Click the tool on the tool palette. You will see the Fill Options panel. The color you will fill below the horizon line is already selected. Move the cursor to the space below the horizon line. Click the mouse button to fill this area with color. Practice with the Paint Tools Use the tool and the tool to add details to your image. Once you select a tool from the palette, you will see the options for that tool in the Options panel.
Page 18 of 23 Use the Shape Tool Click the tool on the tool palette. You will see the shape options panel. Click the one-sided arrow.
Page 19 of 23 Click black on the color palette. Click and drag the width slider to the left. The tool tip should read 5. Move the cursor to an important word in your definition. Click and drag to connect the word to the detail in the picture that matches it.

The URL for your project will be copied to the clipboard. Paste this URL address into a new Web browser window or tab to view your project online without Wixie.
