Standard Plus Version Software OptoLyzer software runs on all PC hardware including laptops and notebooks under Windows 98 /ME, NT4.0, 2000/XP. OptoLyzer operates in one of two basic modes: In Spy Mode, OptoLyzer is primarily used as a network analyzer for control messaging. It will receive all messages and will not acknowledge any of them. It is invisible in the MOST Network. In Node Mode, OptoLyzer acts as an active node in the network, providing low-level acknowledgement and channel allocation as well as message send retries. OptoLyzer can operate as timing master or timing slave. While timing master will generate one master frame for the network, multiple slaves will lock to the master s frame and timing. Architecture The OptoLyzer tool platform contains the OptoLyzer socket library, a collection of library functions covering all aspects of MOST Network analysis and simulation. The OptoLyzer socket library includes a generic interface to the hardware. Adaptation to different OptoLyzer hardware components is achieved through tool specific libraries (DLLs) that can later be integrated in a new hardware system. The OptoLyzer socket library includes two basic function areas: OptoLyzer Control Block Bus Analyzer The Hardware MOST Network interface Stereo 16 bit A/D converter S/PDIF input and output Quad 16 bit D/A converter Analog volume control 115 kbps RS232 Lock and message indicator Hardware message filter Message capturing Line level audio I/O

Plug-Ins OptoLyzer Professional Software Upgrade Software upgrade to OptoLyzer Professional from: OptoLyzer Standard or OptoLyzer Standard Plus Software CD & license Version 1.X to Version 2.X Software CD & license Order No. B10069 Order No. B10068 OptoLyzer ActiveX Control The OptoLyzer ActiveX Control allows to develop MOST analysis and control applications on a Windows platform that supports ActiveX (e.g., C++Builder, Delphi, VC++, VB). It can be used to write an application for easy access to the OptoLyzer Interface Box functions. OptoLyzer Active X Control Software Order No. B10083 MOST Radar V3 OptoLyzer is a tool for analyzing MOST Networks, such as checking MOST Network configuration, verifying node properties, or inspecting allocation status. MOST Radar V3 depicts all MOST devices integrated in a MOST Network at one glance. A graphical interface helps interpreting the function blocks and their real location in the MOST Network. Each node window displays the name of the device, the kind of the device and detailed device information such as node address, node position and group address, depending on predefined specifications done via MOST Radar Reference Editor. Information on the individual nodes is collected during scan process of the MOST Network and presented by different views. Each can be optimized for a specific purpose, such as custom view, which is needed whenever the real location of a device has to be presented. A detailed scan menu allows the adaptation of the scanning process from basic overview to in depth and offers an option for defining the nodes to be scanned all nodes or only a special one. The quantity of information OptoLyzer reads can be defined by detail level. MOST Radar V3 Order No. B10081

Plug-Ins MOST RapidControl MOST RapidControl is a rapid prototyping tool to develop Human/Machine Interfaces. Message handling and interpretation is integrated. The bi-directional communication consists of controlling devices and receiving status information. Messages can be linked to controls such as buttons, sliders, knobs, panels and displays. MOST RapidControl Software Order No. B10082 Examples of user interfaces created with MOST RapidControl:

Standard Plus Version Block Diagram Ordering Information The OptoLyzer Standard Plus includes: OptoLyzer Interface Box OptoLyzer Standard Plus software CD & license MOST Edit and MOST Send software 110-240 V Power supply 12 V automotive cigarette lighter plug PC link cable RS232 USB to RS232 adaptor cable (not for Windows NT) Optical fiber set Headphones Manuals Order No. B10060 OptoLyzer Control Block The OptoLyzer Control Block connects the hardware and control software. This block administers global settings (ex., PC interfaces) and specific properties of the particular PC interface. These properties include items like Codecs, signal-processing mappings of PC sound channels, wake-up, etc. The functions are shown in a number of control windows. Some of these control windows are already integrated in the base software; others are implemented as independent programs that can be added later or packaged as independent executables. MOST Send is an example of a plug-in that can be integrated into the system. This protocol-based tool provides sending of MOST control messages to the MOST Network. Bus Analyzer The Bus Analyzer function block collects bus events such as control messages, lock, unlock, light and error conditions. The events are stored in a central message buffer, along with timestamps. They are accessible through uniform interfaces and a collection of functions for visualizing software such as filtering functions, event recording and functions for generating trigger conditions. Analysis windows for viewing data are based on the OptoLyzer socket library. Classic analysis windows such as Viewer, Timing Analyzer and Recorder are built-in. Other modules like complex recording modules with preand post-triggering or specific viewers, including special disassembling functions, can be added later. In any case, the hardware environment must meet the requirements of this type of application. Plug-Ins Order No. B10062 The programs listed below are examples of the plug-ins, which can be integrated into the Bus Analyzer: The included MOST Edit is a tool that provides access to all MOST Network Interface Controller registers and functions. MOST Radar is an optional network analysis plug-in that enables remote access and control of all MOST Network Interface Controller Nodes in the system. MOST RapidControl is an powerful generator for Human/Machine Interfaces. This plug-in is optional.

Professional Version OptoLyzer Professional Version The OptoLyzer Professional has all the features of the Standard Plus. In addition, the professional version includes: MOST NetServices Layer I DLL to create simulated devices Mixed operation of simulated and real MOST devices Control of OptoLyzer Interface boxes and a MOST PC Interface in parallel Bus load command that allows specifying the target address and message Improved usability of the filter editor (3 x 5) Supports spying as visible network slave node Simultaneous control messaging and spying Support for packet data transfer in 48 Byte mode Ordering Information The OptoLyzer Professional includes: OptoLyzer Interface Box OptoLyzer Professional software CD & license MOST Edit and MOST Send software 110-240 V Power supply 12 V automotive cigarette lighter plug PC link cable RS232 USB to RS232 adaptor cable (not for Windows NT) Optical fiber set Headphones Manuals Order No. B10061 Order No. B10063 Simulation of MOST Devices Device Simulation with Professional Version The simulation function covers all steps of MOST system development. It is possible to simulate virtual MOST devices communicating with other virtual MOST devices in a virtual MOST Network. In addition, it is possible to connect virtual MOST devices to real MOST hardware (OptoLyzer Interface Boxes, MOST PC Interfaces) in a real MOST Network. The simulation provides a message interface that can support almost any number of virtual MOST devices. The interface consists of functions which permit the sending and receiving of MOST messages and the handling of group and logical addresses. For a simulated MOST device, the OptoLyzer socket library behaves like a real MOST node. A virtual MOST device can be assigned to a real MOST Network Interface Controller in an OptoLyzer Interface Box or a MOST PC Interface. The simulated MOST devices become visible and address- able for real MOST devices. The simulation interface functions are equivalent to the functions of the Basic Layer (Layer I) of the MOST NetServices API, a library implemented in ANSI C providing software access to a MOST Network. The ability to simulate virtual devices in a virtual network based on the OptoLyzer socket library permits testing the interaction between MOST devices before the device hardware is available. This feature is important when defining new systems. The OptoLyzer socket library allows a PC Interface or several OptoLyzer Interface Boxes to be connected for simulating MOST systems of any complexity. Since the OptoLyzer socket library offers a variety of interfaces, finding an appropriate development platform is simple. Copyright 2000-2006 SMSC. All rights reserved.
