Evolvi Web Site EvolviPrint Printers Evolvi Web Printing Overview EvolviPrint is an essential component of Evolvi Web Printing which allows Evolvi access to your PC's CCST and laser printers for the printing of tickets and delivery notes. The ticketing process is integrated within the Evolvi web site. All orders and order items, including ToD and kiosk, are selected for printing using the web site. EvolviPrint simply provides access to your PC s printers. EvolviPrint can be installed on a standard desktop PC complete with keyboard and mouse. It is intended for private environments such as company offices. EvolviPrint can be downloaded from the Evolvi downloads page once Web Printing has been enabled for your organisation. R E A D E R S H I P This document is intended for users familiar with installing and configuring Windows applications. L I M I T A T I O N S EvolviPrint only runs on Windows Operating Systems that support the Microsoft.Net Framework 4.5. Please note that Windows XP does not support.net Framework 4.5. S U P PO R T For assistance, please contact the Evolvi Support Team at info@evolvi.co.uk.

E V O L V I W E B S I T E Once Web Printing has been enabled for an organisation, the Evolvi web site will allow ticketors from that organisation to select orders for printing from the following web pages: 1. I N S T A L L A T I ON S T E P S The EvolviPrint installation files can be downloaded from the Evolvi web site. Depending on the state of the installation PC, follow one of these scenarios: Scenario - Clean PC 1. Install EvolviPrint (either as a local admin or a non-admin with elevated privileges). 2. Use the EvolviPrint Console to: a. Configure your proxy server settings (but only if a proxy server is used). b. Register your EvolviPrint with the Evolvi server. c. Configure your printer settings. Scenario - PC with an earlier version of EvolviPrint installed 1. Install EvolviPrint (either as a local admin or a non-admin with elevated privileges). 2. Run EvolviPrint. It will use the previous EvolviPrint configuration data. This will include proxy server settings, registration details and printer settings. Scenario - PC with the Client Print Service (CPS) installed 1. Install EvolviPrint (either as a local admin or a non-admin with elevated privileges). Do not run EvolviPrint yet. 2. Log on to Windows as a user who has the CPS installed (often this will be the same user as above). 3. Exit the CPS if it is configured to auto-start. 4. Run EvolviPrint. On its first run, EvolviPrint will migrate any CPS configuration data that it can find for the current Windows user. This will include proxy server settings, registration details and printer settings. 5. Uninstall all instances of the CPS.

C O N F I G U R A T I O N S T A R T I N G WINDOWS 7 Click on Programs / Evolvi Rail Systems / EvolviPrint from the Windows Start menu. Starting EvolviPrint from the Windows Start menu When running, the EvolviPrint icon will be displayed in the notification area (also known as the system tray) on your Windows taskbar. EvolviPrint running in the Notification Area on the Windows Taskbar If the EvolviPrint icon fails to appear then reboot your PC. EvolviPrint should then automatically start when you log in to Windows. S T A R T I N G WINDOWS 8 From the Windows 8 Apps menu (accessed via the Windows key ), click on the EvolviPrint icon. E V O L V I P R I N T C O N S O L E The EvolviPrint console is used to configure EvolviPrint and to configure and maintain its printers. You can open the EvolviPrint console, either by double clicking the EvolviPrint icon in the notification area or by right clicking the same icon and selecting EvolviPrint Console... EvolviPrint Console The console provides access to the File, Settings, Maintenance and Help menus - selecting a menu item will reveal the relevant sub-menus. Clicking the close 'X' icon in the title bar will minimize the control panel to the system tray (EvolviPrint will continue to run). EvolviPrint can be exited (stopped) either by using the File / Exit menu item on the EvolviPrint console or by right clicking on the EvolviPrint icon in the notification area and selecting Exit. On first use you will need to use the EvolviPrint console to perform the following steps: 1. Configure your proxy server settings (but only if a proxy server is used). 2. Register your EvolviPrint with the Evolvi server. 3. Configure your printer settings. You can then close the console using the X icon in the title bar. After first use EvolviPrint will automatically start when the Windows user logs in to the PC.

EvolviPrint Console... - opens the console (see above). 2. Enable Auto Start - enables/disables auto start. WARNING: disabling auto start will stop EvolviPrint automatically starting when you log on to Windows. 3. Enable Power Save - enables/disables power save. WARNING: disabling power save will prevent Windows from either sleeping or hibernating whilst EvolviPrint is running. 4. Exit - exits (stops) EvolviPrint. WARNING: exiting EvolviPrint will stop ticketing on this PC. E X A M P L E S C E N A R I O S EvolviPrint can be used in various scenarios. For example: 1. Ticketor uses their own PC for both the Evolvi web site and EvolviPrint a. This is the most straight-forward scenario. 2. Ticketor uses their own PC for the Evolvi web site and another PC for EvolviPrint a. The other PC will need to be powered on, a Windows user logged in, and EvolviPrint running (the PC can be locked). b. Tickets will need to be collected from the CCST printer connected to the other PC. c. If the CCST printer is not reachable from the ticketor's own PC, the ticketor will need to use the other PC for non-issues, printing railcards, and processing automated refunds. d. Before first use, the ticketor will need to enter their username / password using the sharing dialog on EvolviPrint running on the other PC.

S E T TIN G S R E G I S T R A T I O N S E T TIN G S Register your EvolviPrint with the Evolvi server by clicking the Settings / Registration menu item and completing the following fields in the Registration dialog: 1. If you have already installed the.net framework then you can download the EvolviPrint setup.msi file instead. Q. Is online help available for EvolviPrint? A. EvolviPrint incorporates help documentation, accessed via the EvolviPrint console. P R O X Y S E R V E R A N D F I R E W ALL S E TT I N G S Q. I have configured the proxy server settings within Internet Explorer (IE). Do I need to configure the proxy server settings within EvolviPrint too? A. No, not unless you wish to bypass the proxy server, use a different proxy server or override the credentials of the logged in user. By default, EvolviPrint will use the proxy server settings configured within IE. Q. When should I bypass the proxy server? A. Some firewall/proxy server combinations will reject HTTP(S) requests from EvolviPrint. In these cases it is recommended that you bypass the proxy server and add a firewall rule that allows HTTPS traffic from the PC running EvolviPrint to *.evolvi.co.uk and (for Railooto users only) www.railooto.com. Q. Can I specify multiple different proxy servers? A. No.

P R E V I O U S T I C K E T I N G S O L U T I O N S Q. Is the Client Print Service (CPS) still supported? A. Support for the CPS will be withdrawn during 2015 in order that the new mandated industry standard print formats can be implemented. Q. Why is the latest EvolviPrint superior to earlier version? A. The latest EvolviPrint has the following advantages over the previous versions: It supports dynamic pectab functionality which allows the printing of tickets in the new mandated industry standard print formats. Printers can be shared by multiple ticketors across multiple domains and databases. Q. Why should I replace the existing CPS with EvolviPrint? A. EvolviPrint is a direct replacement for the CPS. Following customer feedback, EvolviPrint incorporates a number of improvements over the CPS, one of which is that it is installed once per machine (the CPS was installed per user). Furthermore, the latest EvolviPrint incorporates support for the new mandated industry standard print formats. Once the deadline for printing in these formats has passed, users who have not replaced their CPS with EvolviPrint will find that they are unable to issue tickets. Q. Why should I upgrade my existing EvolviPrint installations? A. The latest EvolviPrint incorporates support for the new mandated industry standard print formats. Once the deadline for printing in these formats has passed, users who have not upgraded their EvolviPrint will find that they are unable to issue tickets.
