Updating CAESY Enterprise 7.0 to Suite 9 Welcome to the. Depending on your server, allow approximately 1 2 hours to complete the update. The update consists of 5 disks: 1-CAESY Enterprise Suite 9 Installation Update disk, 3-Edge Server Update Disks, and 1-CAESY Enterprise Suite 9 Program Installation disk. YOU MUST PERFORM A FULL SYSTEM BACK-UP* BEFORE THE UPDATE PROCEDURE! *For more information about the Back-up procedure, see pg 8. To update The Edge server Insert the CAESY Enterprise Suite 9 Installation Update disk into the CD tray on your workstation and close the tray. 1. The initialization step checks the version of CAESY Enterprise that is already installed on your server before it begins the update procedure. You must log on as an Administrator in order to update your server. You will not be able to install the Suite 9 Update unless your current system is CAESY Enterprise 7.0. Please contact a Support Specialist. See page 7 for contact information. You will not be able to access the Internet from this computer during the update procedure. 2. The Welcome screen gives you an overview of the update process and approximate times that certain steps need to complete their work. Click <Next>. Depending on your computer system, you may find that installation time may vary from the approximation. Pg 1 of 8
3. Insert the Edge Server Update Disc 1 into The Edge server CD tray and close the tray. Click <Next>. Once the process begins, do not remove the CAESY Enterprise Suite 9 Installation Update disc or the Edge Server Update Disc 1. This step takes approximately 5 minutes. Depending on your computer system, you may find that installation time may vary from the approximation. If you decide not to proceed with the update, press the <Cancel> button at the bottom of this screen. The pop-up box asks you to confirm the cancellation. The program will give you an error message if you insert the wrong disc. Insert the Edge Server Update Disc 1 and click <Next>. If you did not cancel the update or insert the incorrect disc, the process continues. When this step is complete, the Edge Server Update Disc 1 ejects. Remove the disc. Pg 2 of 8
4. Updating Content Insert the Edge Server Update Disc 2 into The Edge server and press <OK>. Allow approximately 30 minutes for the disks to install their contents onto The Edge server. Depending on your computer system, you may find that installation time may vary from the approximation. IMPORTANT NOTE You will receive this error message if you insert the incorrect disk. When the correct disk is inserted, you will see a spinning image while the content transfers to your server. You will receive a prompt when the Edge Server Update Disc 3 is needed. The disc automatically ejects after it has added its content to the server. Please be patient while the content loads into your server. The loading time may be different depending on your system. 5. Remove the Edge Server Update Disc 3 and close the CD tray. The update procedure is complete. The server automatically restarts after you click on <OK>. 6. Do not attempt to access the server while it is restarting. Depending on your computer system, you may find that during the restart phase, the time may vary from the 30- minute approximation. 7. Type your license number into the field and press <OK>. Your license number is located on the front of the disk storage album. Pg 4 of 8
8. This feature allows you to provide CAESY Education Systems with valuable presentation usage information. This information is not patientspecific. It provides CAESY Education Systems with the names of presentations that are played the most in your practice. These names help us to provide you with new and updated presentations that are most relevant to your practice. Read the disclaimer and press <Yes. Allow reporting> or press <No reporting>. 9. You have successfully updated CAESY Enterprise 7.0 to Suite 9. The final task is to install CAESY Enterprise Suite 9. Please continue to the next page for those instructions. Pg 5 of 8
This series of steps will guide you through the installation of the CAESY Enterprise Suite 9 onto your workstation. 1. Place the CAESY Enterprise Suite 9 Program Installation disk into the workstation CD tray, and close the tray. A prompt will appear. Click <Next>. 2. Click <Next> on the Welcome screen. 3. You will be asked to read and either accept or decline the Patterson Software License Agreement. If you select No at any time during the installation procedure, the installation stops. 4. At the prompt, click on <Change> if you want to select a different destination and click on <Next>; otherwise just click on <Next>. The typical install will place CAESY, Smile Channel, ShowCase, Smile Channel TV Controller and CAESY Previews at the location indicated in the window. Pg 6 of 8
5. The resulting window displays a progress bar. When the installation is complete, click on <Next>. 6. When a message appears indicating that the CAESY Enterprise Suite 9 installation is complete, click on the <Finish> button. 7 Click on the CAESY Enterprise Suite 9 icon on your desktop to open CAESY. Back-up The Edge Server 1 Open CAESY Enterprise and pull down the Server menu. 2 Click on Backup. 3 Navigate to the location where you want to store your backed-up data. We recommend that you give the backup file a short, meaningful name so that it is easy to remember and locate. For example, CAESY 9 would be suitable because this is the CAESY Enterprise Suite 9 update. A progress bar appears as the data is being copied to your storage location. When the back-up is complete, the window automatically closes. You can now begin the update procedure. Pg 8 of 8
