Introduction This April 2011 release of Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail contains changes to the previous January 2011 release. This document describes these changes and provides deployment and installation instructions for upgrading from the January 2011 release to the April 2011 release. However, this document does not describe all features and is not a complete guide to the capabilities or use of Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail. Nor does it describe upgrading from the June 2010 release. For more information about Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail, see its documentation. Changes High priority fixes Performance and scalability improvements Preaction to action conversion has been optimized. Downloading large datasets has been improved. For more information, see the note on page 3 of the Retail Store Connect Technical Reference. Downloads and Retail POS transactions Transactions can be preformed in Retail POS while downloading data from Retail Headquarters, even if the transactions include items being downloaded. Sales taxes Retail POS When performing a return, the original sales tax is recalled. Returning an item with a sales tax override recalls the original sales tax group. Posting Retail Headquarters Safe drops, bank drops, tender declarations, and other transactions are posted to the correct store. For more information, see this Knowledge Base article, KB 2518739. Retail dimension values correctly utilize standard dimension values. Dimension values are filled in for all lines in payment journals. Returns with a discount are reversed properly when posting. Retail POS The operator name on the receipt prints correctly when Show staff list at logon is selected. Infocodes for income and expense transactions have been implemented. The round-up on tender types has been fixed. The tender type name is now displayed in the tender entry form. Retail POS Plug-ins The dual display plug-in has been updated to allow partner implementation of sales totals. Retail Store Connect Retail Store Connect now correctly deletes old messages from the message database. Translations All 38 translations are included in this release, not in a separate language pack. This includes the translations of appropriate documentation. Brazil fiscal printer integration Fiscal printer integration has been added to Retail POS to accommodate legal requirements in Brazil. This includes support for Brazilian sales taxes, as well as support for fiscal books integration for the Urmet Daruma, model FS700 printer and the state of São Paulo. Note In Brazil, Retail POS is available only in São Paulo. Hotfix rollup 7 The April 2011 release of Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail requires hotfix rollup 7 for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 Service Pack 1 (SP1). Commerce Services for Microsoft Dynamics ERP Online sales orders are required to have a country code in ISO alpha-2 codes. Taxes for online sales orders display both the Microsoft Dynamics AX-computed and onlinecomputed taxes in the adjustment amount. The online-computed taxes are the invoiced amount. Upgrade Guide 2
Upgrade You can upgrade the January 2011 release of Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail to the April 2011 release. You must upgrade both Retail POS and Retail Headquarters. During the installation of Retail Headquarters, the upgrade checklist walks you through the upgrade steps, including upgrading the database. For complete instructions, see the Deployment and Installation Guide. Follow the steps below in the order presented to upgrade from the January 2011 release to the April 2011 release. Preparation 1. Make sure to send P-jobs. 2. Complete all posting. 3. Update your license file (if necessary). 4. Delete all invalid AOS instances from the Batch Server Group. 5. Delete all entries from this table: DRMPreactionTable. 6. Delete all entries from this table: DRMActionTable. Uninstall programs 1. Uninstall Retail POS. 2. Uninstall Retail Headquarters. 3. Uninstall Retail Transaction Service: a) Stop the Retail Transaction Service service. b) Uninstall Retail Transaction Service. 4. Uninstall Retail Store Connect: a) Stop the Retail Store Connect service. b) Uninstall Retail Store Connect. c) Delete the AXRETAILMSG database. Install and start Retail Store Connect 1. Install Retail Store Connect. 2. Start Retail Store Connect. 3. Remove the existing service. 4. Add the new service. 5. Update the new service credentials. a) When finished, don t start Retail Store Connect from the credentials dialog box. b) Open services by typing services.msc in the Run dialog box. c) Locate the Store Connect Service and start it from there. Install and start Retail Transaction Service 1. Install Retail Transaction Service. 2. Open services by typing services.msc from the Run dialog box. 3. Modify the Retail Transaction Service logon properties, as necessary. 4. Start the service. Install and start Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail 1. Install Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail. 2. Delete the file, AxRetailSL1.version, which was just created. 3. Start Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail. 4. Complete the Upgrade checklist: a) Compile the application. b) Detect code upgrade conflicts, if necessary. c) Fix any compilation errors. d) Sync the database. e) Finish the Upgrade checklist. f) Close the application.
