Alaska Cruise Itinerary Assignment Objectives By the end of this lesson, you will be able to: Insert and modify a clip-art picture and a map Create WordArt Create a table Apply a table Theme Edit and format text Format a table Customize a bullet 1 Point You have been asked to create an Alaskan cruise itinerary pamphlet for Atlantis Cruise Lines. You will create a title using WordArt, a table using the table tools, and insert and format images to create an attractive document for the cruise line. Part 1: Create a WordArt title with image, and format text. Steps: 1. Start Word, click Blank Document from the template menu, click File, click Save As, click Computer, and save the document as Alaska Cruise Itinerary to the location where you save the files for this class. 2. Click the Insert tab, click the WordArt button arrow in the Text group, select Fill White, Outline-Accent 1, Shadow, click the word art box and type Atlantis Cruise Lines, click the Text Fill button, select Gray 50%, Accent 3, click Text Outline, click weight, select 1½. 3. With the WordArt still selected, click the Home tab, Change the font to, Bella Donna, and the size to 72pt., click the Italic button, and click the Center button in the Paragraph group. Your WordArt should look like the image below. 4. Place your curser after the s in the word Lines, press [Enter] to move the next line, click Insert, click Picture, and select the Cruise Ship image from the location where you save the files for this class. Click the image, Change the image Height to 1.2 in the size group. Notice that the Width changed as well. Click the dialog box launcher in lower right hand corner of the size group. You will see that there is a checkmark beside Lock aspect ratio. Click Cancel to close the Layout dialog box.
5. Click the Cruise Ship image. There should be a box around the image, Click the WordArt above the image. The Cruise Ship image should be within the WordArt text box. Hover your mouse pointer over any of the WordArt textbox anchor point so your pointer changes to a four sided arrow. Double-click so that the Drawing Tools Format ribbon is active, click the Wrap Text button arrow, select In Line with Text. 6. Place your mouse pointer to the right edge of the WordArt text box so that you see a blinking curser, hit [Enter] so that your blinking curser is two spaces below the WordArt text box. Click the Show/Hide button in the Paragraph group to confirm there are two spaces below the WordArt text box. Click the Show/Hide again to turn off the marks and symbols. Type: Alaska Adventure Itinerary, hit [Enter] to start a new line. Highlight the words Alaska Adventure Itinerary, click Heading 1 in the Styles group, and make the font bold. 7. On the next line type the following: Sale round trip from Seattle to explore Alaska s inside passage. Enjoy our seven-day Atlantis cruise vacation filled with glacier-carved fjords, forested islets and quaint ports along Alaska s famed Inside Passage. Change the font to Verdana, 12pt. 8. Click Save on the Quick Access toolbar.
Part 2: Create an Itinerary Table Steps: 1. Place your curser after the period following the last word of the paragraph, hit [Enter] three times. Press up the [Arrow] key once to position your curser above the last line. Click Insert, click Picture, select the Cruise Map image from the location where you save the files for this class. Click the image, Click the Wrap Text button arrow OR the Position button arrow from the Arrange group, click More Layout Options to open the Layout dialog box. Change the image Height to 2.5 in the size group. Change the position to Top and Bottom, change the position to Centered horizontally relative to the margins, click OK to close the Layout dialog box. Right click your mouse button and select Format Picture from the options menu, click the Layout & Properties button on the Format Picture menu to the right of the window. Click Alt Text, type Alaska Inside Passage for the title, and Seven-day Alaskan Cruise Route for the description. 2. Click on the last line under the Map Image, click Insert, click Table, and hover over the squares to create a 4x8 table. Click on the table, place your pointer on left hand side of one of the table rows so that you see a blue plus sign. 1 4 Click on the plus sign to add two additional rows to the table. You should now have a table with four columns and 10 rows. 3. Enter the table information as show below:
1 3 Center the column headings. Hover your mouse pointer on the top row between the columns to adjust the column widths to as show to ensure the text in each row fits on one line within the columns. 4. Click the first cell of the table, click the Table Tools Design tab, click the expand arrow of the Table Styles group, choose Grid Table 4 - Accent 1. Your table should now look like the one below: 1 Point 5. Click in the right margin next to the table, hit the down arrow key once, click the Bulleted List down arrow from the Paragraph group, select the arrow bullet type, Type: Port arrival and departure times are approximate and subject to change without notice. 6. Your finished document should fit on one page and look like the document image at the end of this assignment. Save the document, and submit a copy to your instructor.
