CriticalPoint Manual IP Simplifi 797 CriticalPoint's sterile compounding education programs offer interactive Web-based training for compounding sterile preparations and services related to creating and enabling learning through technology in clinical settings. CriticalPoint e-learning represents a best practices approach for interactive training for sterile compounding and is designed to assist healthcare providers in meeting quality assurance program goals and regulatory compliance. Critical point is accessible through a link in the Competencies tab of the Simplifi 797 program. Begin by selecting the Competency tab in Simplifi 797. Because we are about to register as a new user, we'll need the Registration code. You can find it here. In this example, the Registration Code is "test," in all lower case letters. Click the CriticalPoint logo or the Click here to access link. New User Figure 1 3

Simplifi 797 IP CriticalPoint Manual The Critical Point opening screen will appear. An existing user can log in here, but as a new user, take a moment to familiarize yourself with the steps for registering and when ready, click on register here. Figure 2 The Register screen will appear. Fill out the information. Note that those items marked with a red asterisk are required. You will recall the Registration Code, which was pointed out earlier. For this tutorial, our code was the word "test," but in your case, simply see the Competencies screen in Simplifi 797, as described on the previous page. 4

CriticalPoint Manual IP Simplifi 797 Complete all required fields, and any others required by your facility. Three fields are very important and required information in order for you to earn your ACPE_approved Continuing Education credits upon completion of CriticalPoint Post Tests (see Figure 3). First, enter your eprofile number from the CPE Monitor program. If you do not have an eprofile number you will need to register for your free number through CPE Monitor at www.nabp.net. Next, enter your birth date in MMDD format. Finally, choose your job role. Once familiar with the license agreement, click the I agree checkbox, then, Create Registration. Figure 3 5

Simplifi 797 IP CriticalPoint Manual My Account Provided the form was filled in properly, you will see a confirmation screen informing you that your registration is complete. Click Continue to go to the newly created My Account screen. Once there, the Learning Activities area will populate. Note: This may take a few minutes and may require a refresh of the screen. The My Account screen serves as the home base. Here, you can view the required courses, completed courses, information regarding due dates and expiration dates. Figure 4 My Profile Click on My Profile to open the first of a series of editable screens, which make up the original registration information. Here you may edit or add any of the information. Broken into four screens, click the tab for the screen you wish to review. Make any desired changes. When all is satisfactory, click Save Changes. Provided all information is correctly entered, you will receive a prompt indicating a successful change. Learning Activities As mentioned earlier, you can view your progress. Viewing the tabs (arrow, fig. 4), we can see that this user has 31 required courses and post tests. Of the 31, three have been completed. When a course or post test is completed, it is moved from the main, Enrolled list to the Completed list. Click the tab to view the details. We also see a due date and an expiration date for each Course and Post Test. Upon registration, each course and Post Test is assigned an expiration date one year beyond the registration date. This is not an expiration date assigned by your administrator. The Due Date assigned is one month before the expiration date. Once the due date has passed, the Course or Post Test will move to the Overdue tab. While not yet expired, this gives you a 6

CriticalPoint Manual IP Simplifi 797 warning that this course is approaching its expiration. Once the expiration date has passed, it will move to the Expired tab, and you will no longer be able to access this Course or Post Test. However, when an expiration date has passed, whether or not you ve completed the Course or Post Test, you will automatically be reenrolled, and a new expiration date will be assigned. My Transcript Clicking My Transcript will open a separate window displaying details of the completed courses, including course title, status, completion date, lesson, and completion status. Note that here we can now see each individual lesson associated with the completed course. Figure 5 Training To begin, if not already done, select My Account. The list shown in fig. 4 will appear. In the Learning Activities list below, choose the course you wish to view and click the adjacent Go button. This will open the course description page, showing all of the lessons included in this course. Click the Go button adjacent to the desired Lesson to enter. Figure 6 7

Simplifi 797 IP CriticalPoint Manual Training consists of a slide show, with the titles at the left (Figure 7). Simply advance through the lesson using the NEXT button, read the text, and follow the instructions for each section. You may also at any time go back and review previous slides by clicking the BACK button or clicking directly on the titles on the left. Note that there are also sub screens throughout the training that are not shown on the left menu. These lessons are highly interactive, and throughout ask you to click certain areas for more information related to topics and subtopics. Other areas ask you to click and drag to match terms with descriptions, and there are also sections where you are asked to view a video demonstration. Throughout the lessons, simply follow the instructions to advance through. Once you have reached the end of the lesson, click on the final NEXT arrow. Once processed, click the link to go back to the course information page. Figure 7 8

CriticalPoint Manual IP Simplifi 797 Post Tests Post Tests are found in the My Account section below the course list. Just like courses, any Post Tests you have not completed will be found in the Enrolled Tab, while completed Post Tests will be found in the Completed tab. There is a Post Test associated with each lesson within CriticalPoint. To find the appropriate test, simply scroll down to locate the Post Test that matches with the desired lesson (most likely the lesson that you just took). Then click the adjacent Go Button (Figure 8). Figure 8 We are brought to the Post Test information page. Click the Go button to enter the test. A new window opens, and you are brought immediately to the first question of the test. Simply answer each question and click the Next button to advance to the next question. There are different types of questions within a test. If you see radio buttons, you may only select one answer. Other questions will have checkbox answers. In this case, more than one answer may be correct. Select all appropriate answers. Other questions may ask you to select images or match terms with definitions. Once you have answered each question, you will see a popup. If you wish to go back and check through your answers, click the Return to Quiz button. If you are ready to submit your answers, click the Submit All Answers button. Figure 9 9

Simplifi 797 IP CriticalPoint Manual You will now see your score, compared with the passing score of 80%. Provided you achieved at least a passing score, the system lets you know that you ve passed. From here, we could go back and review the quiz to see which answers we may have gotten incorrect. Click Finish to return to the Post Test information page If you do not pass, you have two options. You may review your quiz, showing you your correct and incorrect answers, or you may select Finish. Selecting Finish brings you back to the test information screen, showing the Failed status for this test, with the score. From here, you can either retake the test right away by clicking again on the Go button, or go back and review the corresponding lesson before making another attempt. 10

CriticalPoint Manual IP Simplifi 797 Administrator Menu If you are an administrative user, you will have some extra choices on your dashboard. In addition to the Home and My Account buttons, you will see Reports and Administrator Menu. In the Administrator menu, the main function is the management of users. To display the users, click the Users link. You will see a list of all users, along with their user name and email. At the right you will see three icons. Disconnect allows you to disconnect an active user. Login allows you to log in as that user. Note that if the user is currently logged in, as indicated by the red icon, an administrator cannot log in - as indicated by the greyed-out key. View allows you to view and edit a users account information, or profile. By default, users are listed alphabetically by last name. Clicking on any of the first three headings will re-sort the list by the chosen column's contents. Subsequent clicks on the same heading will reverse the order. Editing User Account To edit a user's account, click the Pencil icon adjacent to the desired user's name in the list. Notice the four tabs at the left: Account Info, Contact Info, Employee Info, and Other. this is essentially the same screen used when registering, with a few differences, and it is split into four separate parts. For example, in Account Info, below the password, notice the Force user to change at next login selection. If a user has forgotten their password, the administrator can select this checkbox. On this user's next login, they will be prompted to create a new password. Or, if preferred, the administrator can simply create the new password for the user. Another difference here is the Expires date. To set a specific date: Figure 10 First uncheck the Never Expires checkbox. Select the expiration month from the first dropdown enter the day, and select the year from the second dropdown. You may save at any time, or move to the next screen. 11

Simplifi 797 IP CriticalPoint Manual The main difference between the user's Contact Info screen and the administrator's is that there are several additional phone number fields here. Depending on the type of records your facility keeps, there are some additional fields in the Employee Info area (Employee ID and Region), and the ability to indicate the supervisor for the employee. To select a supervisor: Click Select User Choose the supervisor's name from the resulting list. When selected, click OK. Finally, the Other screen's fields are identical to the registration page. Here we can make sure that this user has entered their eprofile number. This, along with the correct birth month and date is required for this user to earn Continuing Education credits upon completion of CriticalPoint post tests. When all is satisfactory, click Save Changes. Provided the form was filled in properly, you will see a confirmation screen. From here, you may navigate anywhere in the program via the dashboard buttons. 12

CriticalPoint Manual IP Simplifi 797 Reports The administrator has ability to track users' progress and document their results, with the ability to report on essentially who has completed what. Figure 11 On the left, we can view saved reports and subscriptions, both of which will be explained shortly. On the right we see reports on certificates earned, transcripts of courses taken, and user demographics. The program comes with the Course Status and Lesson Usage reports already loaded. You can use these as they are, edit them, and create several other types. For our example, let's start by looking at a course status report. Click on the Course Status Report link (arrow, fig. 11). The screen shown in fig. 12 will display. We can set search criteria for the report, which will be explained in the Creating Reports section, beginning on page 15. Also, anything checked in the Fields list will show as an information column in the report. When all is satisfactory, click Run Report. 13

Simplifi 797 IP CriticalPoint Manual Figure 12 Depending on the search size, the time taken to create the report will vary. Once generated, you will have three choices: You can view the report in HTML format You can open the report in a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel or you can save it in a comma-separated value format for use with a spreadsheet program If HTML is chosen, your report is displayed displayed along with other information including Company, Course, enroll date, lesson information and lesson status - whatever was chosen in the Fields area. Like other lists, clicking on a column heading will arrange the list alphanumerically, according to that column's contents. Subsequent clicks on the same heading will reverse the order. 14

CriticalPoint Manual IP Simplifi 797 Creating Reports Figure 13 To create your own report, the steps are similar to altering an existing report as we just saw. Begin by choosing Create New Report in the area of interest. We'll use Course Transcripts (arrow, fig. 13). Select Create New Report. In the Fields area, any active checbox will become a column in your report. Check all that apply. 15

Simplifi 797 IP CriticalPoint Manual The filters area lets you narrow your search by entering filter criteria. For our example, we will choose Department (fig. ). Open the Filters dropdown menu and choose the filter. It will now appear in the field. Click the green Plus icon. The chose filter will appear below. Notice that we've selected "match any" and entered the department name after the "contains" operator. This search will only display users in the chosen department name. When ready, select Save Settings Give your report a name Select Public or Private. In most cases Private is preferred. If saved as public, the report template will be available globally to any report administrators who use this training site, not just those in your facility. Users will only have access to user data specific to their group, so no data will be shared. For this reason, we suggest you save all user-created reports as private. When all is satisfactory, click Save Changes. Figure 14 Your new report will appear here and you may view or edit it at any time. When a report is run, you will recall that you have several choices, one of which is to Save. If chosen, the selected report will save to a comma-separated value file and can later be opened in a spreadsheet program like Microsoft Excel. These files will be saved in the files area. Here, you may access the reports much as you would from the original selection when first run. And like other lists, you can select and delete as desired. You can subscribe to these reports as well. As an administrator, you may wish to check periodically check user progress. This will come in the form of emails with links to the report results. To do so, begin by turning the subscription function On. Next, select the date and time that you wish these notifications to begin, and their frequency. When all is satisfactory, click Update Subscription Provided all is filled out correctly, you will receive a prompt indicating a successful save, and your messages will be enabled. 16
