Lotus Doors Revit Content Introduction & User Guide January, 2017 This document provides a detailed insight into the Revit content library supplied by Lotus Doors www.lotusdoors.com.au. The parametric content is comprised of both Loadable families and Curtain Wall System families, all created natively in Revit, allowing users to easily design and document Lotus Doors 80, 100, 125 Series operable wall product ranges. Also covered in this document is an overview of the Revit content development methodologies used by UNIFI in creating the Revit families, ensuring a consistent, robust and reliable Revit library. Should you require operable walls outside the range of products detailed in this Revit content library, please contact Lotus Doors directly to seek assistance with designing a custom solution that meets your specific project requirements. 1/15 P a g e

1.0 Lotus Doors Family Creation Considerations Lotus Doors Revit families have been created to a consistent standard with the objective of finding a balance between complexity of use, functionality, documentation output, file size and performance in a project environment. Primary creation insights and considerations are listed below: 1. Families supplied in Revit 2015 format. 2. Native Revit geometry used throughout, including nested families. (E.g. no AutoCAD or SAT files etc.) 3. Where appropriate, 3D geometry has been hidden in 2D views with Masking Regions and 2D line work applied to ensure documentation consistency and regeneration speed in Plan, Section and Elevations. 4. Loadable families have been created as non-hosted but can be hosted in a face-based template if this type of content is preferred by the end user. 5. Consistent family and shared parameters (ANZRS and standard UNIFI parameters) have been used sparingly, allowing Lotus Doors attributes to be scheduled in the Revit project environment. 6. ANZRS-based Subcategories and additional Lotus Doors-specific Subcategories (names only) have been applied to all geometry and line work. Resulting families allow users to fully customise how the operable walls document in a Revit project via View Templates and overrides. 7. Reference Planes have been applied, named, tidied and set to the correct Is Reference. Thought has been given to the likely end user requirements in placement/alignment and dimensioning of the families. The Origin Point has also been applied accordingly. 8. Detail Level settings have been applied to 2D line work and 3D geometry to improve model performance. 9. All Warnings have been reviewed and removed where possible. 10. Families have been fully Purged and all additional Materials, Line Patterns and Fill Patterns have been removed. 11. Logical and consistent Type naming has been applied across all families. 12. Omni Classification has been set appropriately. 3/15 P a g e

2.0 Lotus Doors Revit Content Library Overview The Lotus Doors Revit content library is broken up into the following Revit components: The break-up of the Revit library and intended use for each component is listed below: 2.1 Product Ranges Three product ranges have been detailed in this initial Lotus Doors Revit content library: o 80 Series Operable Wall o 100 Series Operable Wall o 125 Series Operable Wall 2.2 Basic Materials Library 9 x very basic, non-intrusive materials have been included in the library. Materials are named with the prefix of z_ so they sit at the bottom of your materials library. All unused material assets have been deleted from the families, in addition to purging out all material assets where possible. 4/15 P a g e

2.3 Drafting Views (Details) 24 x native Revit Detail Items have been created to aid in 2D detailing of your Revit projects. 2.4 Drafting Views/Sheets 3 x pre-documented Sheets comprised of multiple Drafting Views (Details) have been created, outlining typical configurations, profile, attachment, track and seal. 2.5 Loadable Families 3 x Specialty Equipment loadable families have been created, designed to document operable walls across a whole project. These families are all < 1MB and provide technical dimensional design feedback when placed and parametrically adjusted. Special attention has been given to ensure cupboard options are included, clearance heights indicated given top track attachment material and panel sizing given clear open width. The three loadable families are all non-hosted and are split into 3 categories: 1. Centre Stack 2. Remote Stack 3. Side Stack 5/15 P a g e

Within each family all three (3) ranges - 80, 100 and 125 - can be parametrically selected in addition to the panel junction type being specified in line with the Lotus Doors Specification Guide 6/15 P a g e

2.6 Curtain Wall System Families 3 x Curtain Wall System families, like the Loadable families allow for design and documentation of operable walls across a whole project. These families are all < 1.5MB and provide similar technical dimensional design feedback to the Loadable families when placed and parametrically adjusted. The Curtain Wall families do lack some performance characteristics as to be expected - in contrast to the Loadable families. However, they do include advantages over the Loadable families accessory and visualisation options the Loadable families do not allow. These are listed below. The three Curtain Wall families are constructed from the following four (4) Curtain Panel Families: 1. Centre Stack 2. Panel (This is the Panel family that includes all Lotus Accessories) 3. Remote Stack 4. Side Stack In the same fashion to the Loadable families, within each Curtain Panel family, all three (3) ranges - 80, 100 and 125 - can be parametrically selected in addition to the panel junction type being specified in line with the Lotus Doors Specification Guide 7/15 P a g e

2.7 Revit Project File A Revit project file has been created containing both the Loadable Families and Curtain Wall System Families. In addition, the Drafting Views (Details), Sheets and pre-configured schedules are incorporated into the project. These pre-configured Revit assets can be Copied & Pasted into other Revit projects as required. 2.8 A Note on Level of Detail Both Loadable families and Curtain Wall System families have level of detail settings applied, particularly in Plan View to work in with your scaled documentation requirements, and to help optimise model performance. 8/15 P a g e

3.0 Lotus Doors Revit Content Selection & Key Parameters At all times, it is recommended to familiarise yourself with the most up-to-date Lotus Doors product literature at www.lotusdoors.com.au or speak to a Lotus Doors representative directly. You will require a basic understanding of the Lotus Doors product and general knowledge around operable wall systems to effectively design and specify with the Lotus Doors operable walls Revit content. The Lotus Doors Revit library has been created with an end-user workflow in mind that matches how Lotus Doors products selected are specified. 3.1 Panel Selection: As explained in section 2.0, the three (3) panel series including Standard, Fineline and Overlay can be selected in either the Loadable or Curtain Wall families. Within each panel series the appropriate panel width can then be selected. All possible variations have been laid out in the sample project for easy copy and paste workflow. 9/15 P a g e

3.2 Stacking Options The three (3) stacking options can then be selected from within the Revit families. 3.3 Expandable Panels Expandable panels are built into both the Loadable and Curtain Wall families and are generated automatically when adjusting the Clear Open Width and Panel Width Desired Parameters. 10/15 P a g e

3.4 Finishes Curtain Walls allow for more flexibility in alternative material finishes. In contrast, by default (without family editing), Loadable families only allow for product wide material changes. 3.5 Accessories Available in the Curtain Wall families (only), Accessories are easily selected and customised. If left pinned, the nested Panel family can be updated across the whole wall. If un-pinned each panel can be customised. 11/15 P a g e

3.6 Track Attachment Options Checkboxes in both the Loadable and Curtain Wall families allow for selection of track attachment material. Based on selection, the clearance zone red box will adjust in size accordingly, aiding in design decision making/clash detection etc. Note: the Curtain Wall cupboard Panel has to be selected to perform this function. 12/15 P a g e

3.7 Additional Functionally, Design, Documentation and Visualisation Aids As shown below, the Loadable Families provide additional check box driven parametric options. The Curtain Walls by their very nature are highly customisable once you start to unpin, swap out panels and adjust gridlines etc. Naturally, you do need to carefully consider Lotus Doors design requirements when customising Curtain Panels. 13/15 P a g e

3.8 Key Dimensions & Cupboard Sizing Built-in Parametric Design Aids The key dimensions that drive overall family size are the Clear Open Height (the height from FFL to underside of track) and the Clear Open Width (distance between jambs). Both the Loadable families and Curtain Wall System families have built-in functionality that expands and contracts the size of the cupboards based on size, height and quantity of panels. Panels stack within the cupboard at 30 degrees when the panel heights exceed 3.5m. In addition, Remote Stack Loadable families can have their parallel and perpendicular cupboard locations set and the rails will update accordingly. 14/15 P a g e

4.0 Closing Statement The overarching goal in creating this Lotus Doors Revit content library is to increase the ease in which Revit users can design, document and specify Lotus Doors products within the Revit environment. Lotus Doors is committed to the continued development of this Revit content library as the industry and BIM workflows evolve over time. We welcome your feedback and insights to ensure we can continue to accommodate your Revit content requirements. - End of Document - 15/15 P a g e
