TOM Rev2 / TOM+ INTERFACE MANUAL Version 1.3 (19-12-2016)

1. Purpose of the interface. 2. Installation. 3. Configuration (Amiga, Atari, C64/C128). 4. Use of the interface. 5. Reset to default settings. 6. Extension cord. 7. Upgrade firmware. 1. PURPOSE OF THE INTERFACE The TOM interface is dedicated for computers like AMIGA, Atari ST, Atari FALCON, Atari TT and C64/C128, it allows connecting such peripherals via the USB as mouse, joystick, pad or a keyboard (including the wireless keyboards) designed for PC-class computers, which do not require installation of additional drivers (HIDcompatible device). You can connect multiple devices to the adapter with use of a USB wireless receiver (e.g. mouse and keyboard). Commodore 64/128 mouse is used in 1351 mode. Ways to connect and functionality are described further in the document. 2. INSTALLATION Adapter can be connected, depending on needs, to any given port (mouse or joystick) it should be inserted (plugged into a port) before the power is on. Attention: Connecting the device to an operating computer might cause damage to the computer port. However connecting of USB peripheral is possible while the computer is powered on (Hot-plug mode) and it can be connected and disconnected multiple times. While the device is operating a LED light indicated its status. 3. CONFIGURATION ( AMIGA / ATARI / C64 C128 ) The first thing after receiving adapter is reconfiguring it to your current used computer: (Ps. usualy adapter is configured to AMIGA at first run). AMIGA 1) Turn off AMIGA and connect adapter with usb mouse to Port 1.

2) Turn power on and after 1 sec. (try not less not more) press and hold RIGHT mouse button. 3) Next quickly press 5-6 times LEFT mouse button. 4) After that LED should off for a second and the fastly blinks 1 time. 5) Release holded button. 6) Power off and then on AMIGA again. Notice: If adapter is wrongly configured the mouse direction works wrongly or not work at all. Settings stored! Adapter not need to be configured anymore. ATARI ST/TT/FALCON 1) Turn off ATARI and connect adapter with usb mouse to Port 1. 2) Turn power on and after 1 sec. (try not less not more) press and hold LEFT mouse button. 3) Next quickly press 5-6 times RIGHT mouse button. 4) After that LED should off for a second and the fastly blinks 2 times. 5) Release holded button. 6) Power off and then on ATARI again. Notice: If adapter is wrongly configured the mouse direction works wrongly or not work at all. Settings stored! Adapter not need to be configured anymore. C64/C128 1) Turn off C64/C128 and connect adapter with usb mouse to Port 1. 2) Turn power on and after 1 sec. (try not less not more) press and hold MIDDLE mouse button. 3) Next quickly press 5-6 times LEFT mouse button. 4) After that LED should off for a second and the fastly blinks 3 times. 5) Release holded button. 6) Power off and then on C64/C128 again. Notice: If adapter is wrongly configured some buttons on C64/C128 keyboard are blocked or on screen are printed wrong characters. Mouse not works at all in this case. Settings stored! Adapter not need to be configured anymore. 4. USE OF THE INTERFACE Adapter automatically detects the type of the device connected which is signalized by

the LED as follows: - LED dimms every 2s. mouse, - LED dims twice each 2s. joystick or pad, - LED dims for three times each 2s. keyboard. If the LED flashed alternately it means, that the device is not connected or it is not supported. MOUSE PC mouse button Left Roll (button) Right KEYBOARD Left mouse button Middle mouse button Right mouse button Function The connected keyboard operates in two modes: - mouse emulation with use of keys, - joystick emulation with use of keys. Attention: Emulation mode for C64/C128 is experimental (some difficulties might occur). Button W S A D O or < P or > Move up (both modes) Move down (both modes) Move left (both modes) Ruch w right (both modes) Function Fire1 or left mouse button in mouse emulation mode Fire2 or right mouse button in mouse emulation mode 9 or K Autofire for Fire 1 button 0 or L Autofire for Fire 2 button 1 Switch to mouse emulation mode (short LED flash) 2 Switch to joystick emulation mode (short LED flash)

Once the emulation mode is being chosen it is remembered and set as a default mode at the next startup. MOUSE + KEYBOARD (wireless set) It allows using both devices simultaneously on terms described separately for the mouse and for the keyboard. JOYSTICK / PAD Joysticks and pads operate in modes listed below: - standard joystick for all kinds of computers (Amiga, Atari, C64/C128) - mouse emulation for all kinds of computers (Amiga, Atari, C64/C128) - in CD32 mode (only for Amiga computers), this mode is supported only for games that support this mode. Default configuration : Button (Alternative) Joystick mode Mouse emulation Amiga CD32 games mode 1 (Triangle) Fire 1 Left mouse button Red 2 (Circle) Fire 2 Right mouse button Blue 3 (X) Yellow 4 (Square) Green 5 (L1) << 6 (R1) >> 7 (L2) Autofire for Fire 1 Autofire Red 8 (R2) Autofire for Fire 2 Autofire Blue 9 10 (Select) Start/Pause The alternative buttons description is purely conventional and it might be different from the one present in here. Change in operating mode ( joystick mode / mouse emulation) happens through simultaneous pressing and holding of 9 and 10 buttons on a pad or joystickand further pressing button: - 1 which causes the mouse emulation mode to start,

- 2 which causes the joystick mode to start. After pressing the LED will dim and then quickly flash which means that the interface has been configure correctly and you can release all buttons. Attention: those settings are not saved therefore at next computer startup the default mode would be Pad/Joystick. The CD32 mode is automatically detected in joystick mode after a certain game is started. There is an option to re-programm the buton settings to adjust the to your needs. To perform it we need press simultaneously pad or joystick buttons as follows: - Button 1 + Button 2 + left direction and hold it for 10s (LED starts flashing quickly) now we have 15s. to programm the buttons of a pad by pressing 10 buttons one after another according to our needs. 5. RESET TO DEFAULT SETTINGS In case of any configuration difficulties we can return to default settings (only with use of a mouse) we need to press all three buttons for 10 seconds after that time the LED will start flashing quickly and alternately for 3 seconds period, after that the settings are set back to default values. 6. EXTENSION CORD Some computers might require an additional extension cord: A500 A500+ A600 A1000 A1500 A2000 A2500 A3000 A4000 CD32 No No Yes No No Not sure No No No No ATARI ST ATARI FALCON ATARI TT C64 C128 Yes Yes Yes Yes No
