In this scenario the NI VLM and the Data Management Software Suite can be installed on the same computer whereby the Data Management Software Suite must not have been previously installed as an evaluation version. If the Data Management Software Suite is installed as an evaluation version, Step 18 in the chapter Installing TDM Server describes how to proceed.
Installing the NI Volume License Manager The installation requires an internet connection. 1. Start the installation through the USB interface. 2. Click Install NI Volume License Manager 3.1. 3. Installing TDM Server The installation requires an internet connection. 1. Start the installation through the USB interface. 2. Click Install DataFinder Server Edition & Analysis Server 2017 SP1. 3. 4. After the reboot, a configuration wizard automatically starts and leads through the basic setup. The wizard may take a few minutes to start. If the TDM Server Control Panel does not open, start the application manually. A message box opens. 5. Click OK. 4 ni.com Data Management Software Suite Installation
6. Please wait for the NI Web Server Guided Setup dialog box to open. This will take a few minutes. Select Help Me Choose a Preset and go through a series of questions to choose the right preset for your web server. Alternatively, select the server configuration preset to start with Secure Remote Access if you want to access the TDM Server on your local network. 8. Disable the setting Log in using an admin user for server administration and enable Log in using Windows accounts. In the following steps, other users can therefore work with TDM Server with your Windows account. 9. Click Next. 6 ni.com Data Management Software Suite Installation

12. Select a certificate file and the associated key file. Your IT department can provide these files. If you do not have these files, you can work with a self-signed certificate and change this setting later in the detailed settings. However, if you work with a self-signed certificate you might receive security warnings, depending on your browser and the security settings on your computer. 13. 19. NI Web Server Configuration opens. In the default configuration users with an admin role can view and configure TDM Server. Add further users to the admin roles on the Roles tab, so that they can also use the TDM Server. 12 ni.com Data Management Software Suite Installation

21. If necessary, add further Windows users or Windows groups to the admins. Only users with admin roles configured previously on the Application tab can use the TDM Server. 14 ni.com Data Management Software Suite Installation
22. Click the Authentication tab. If you want to limit access to a domain, select Restrict to users in a single Active Directory domain and enter the users of a domain that may access TDM Server. 23. 24. Click the Summary tab. The summary displays the URI for TDM Server. Every authorized user can call the TDM Server with this URI. 25. Click Apply and Restart to complete the configuration. Then close the NI Web Server Configuration. 26. Enable the TDM Server Control Panel and click Continue. 27. Configure the account under which TDM Server runs. The Data Preprocessor, Analysis Server, and DataFinder of TDM Server use this account for accessing data and processing tasks. The account needs read and write access permission to all current file servers. Select This account and enter appropriate Windows credentials if you want to process files on the network. If the account does not have the permission to register as a service, the TDM Server Control Panel can add this permission to the account. 16 ni.com Data Management Software Suite Installation
Use a user account with a password that does not expire. 28. Click Continue. Answer any further inquiries with Yes. 29. Select Local volume license server and click Volume License Manager. 30. NI Volume License Manager launches. If the NI Volume License Manager is not yet installed, follow the instructions in the chapter Install NI Volume License Manager. Set Up NI Volume License Manager 1. If you want to check or change settings, you can call the NI Volume License Manager (VLM) in the TDM Server Control Panel or in the Windows Start menu. When the VLM starts for the first time, this wizard starts. 2. Click Next. 3. Install the agreement license file: a. If you already have the license file available, select and install it here and click Next. b. Otherwise, request the license file in the next step, where you select I do not have an agreement license file for this computer. This creates a text file containing the data required by NI to generate your agreement license file. Please send the text file directly to your NI branch and not to agreements@ni.com (as mentioned in the wizard), to speed up processing. Once you have the license file, you can continue with the installation wizard. Note The Volume License Installer Wizard only starts the first time you open NI VLM, so please cancel the Volume License Installer Wizard while you are waiting for your license file. 18 ni.com Data Management Software Suite Installation

5. In the Administrator Information section, enter the requested information. Clients see this contact information when they install software from Volume License Installers or when requesting permissions through NI License Manager. Click Next. 6. Click Allow NI VLM to send my VLA Log to National Instruments automatically to allow NI VLM to send the VLA Log to NI automatically over a secure Internet connection, in accordance with your volume license agreement. 7. Click Next. 22 ni.com Data Management Software Suite Installation

14. Click Licenses. Use the Licenses view to manage the licenses in your volume license agreement. The VLM displays a DIAdem license which can be used by various computers. 17. Complete the Computer Information section. Computer Name is required and must be unique. All other fields are optional. Enter the name of the computer on which TDM Server is installed, which in this scenario is the name of the local computer. 18. 23. Close the NI Volume License Manager and go to the TDM Server Control Panel. Register Volume License 1. Click License Manager to open the NI License Manager. 2. Select Local Volume License Server to open the NI License Manager. Enter the text localhost under Manage Volume License Server in the license manager. Launch TDM Server Manager 1. Select TDM Server Control Panel Servers»TDM Server Manager to launch the TDM Server Manager. You can also launch the Server Manager in the Windows start menu. Every registered user can also launch the TDM Server Manager through the URL displayed in the summary of the NI Web Server Configuration. 2. Log in with your Windows name and password. 3. Click TDM Server Manager to start setting up your new preprocessing and analysis routines. Using DIAdem Licenses 1. You create configurations for the Data Preprocessor and the Analysis server in DIAdem. Install DIAdem on the clients on which you want to use DIAdem. 2.
