1. Installation of Printer Driver *Please note that Administrator or user account with the authority level of Administrator is required for the following operation. 1. For Windows XP 1. Turn on PC power and printer power. 2. Connect Printer with PC using USB cable. (USB Cable is not included in the standard accessories) Insert USB Connecter (B type) of the USB cable to the connecter at the back of the printer and the other side of USB Connector (A type) to PC. By connecting Printer with PC by USB cable, Plug and Play will start. 3. Found New Hardware Wizard will start. At the screen shown here, select [No, not this time] and click [Next] 4. Insert [DPB series driver disc] at CD drive of the PC 5. Select [Install the software automatically (Recommended)] and click [Next] 4
6. Click [Continue Anyway] to continue with the installation. 7. When this screen appears, Click [Finish] to close the wizard. 5
2. For Windows 2000 Professional 1. Turn on PC power and printer power. 2. Connect Printer with PC using USB cable. (USB Cable is not included in the standard accessories) Insert USB Connecter (B type) of the USB cable to the connecter at the back of the printer and the other side of USB Connector (A type) to PC. By connecting Printer with PC by USB cable, Plug and Play will start. 3. Found New Hardware Wizard will start. Click [Next] 4. Insert [DPB series driver disc] at CD drive of the PC 5. Select [Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended)] and click [Next] 6. Specify the location of the driver. Select [CD-ROM drives] and click [Next]. 6
7. When Device Driver is found on Driver CD, following message will appear. Click [Next]. 8. A warning message [the software does not contain a Microsoft digital signature] will appear. Click [Yes] to continue with installation of the Driver. 9. When following message appears, click [Finish] to close the wizard. 7
3. For Windows Vista 1. Turn on PC power and printer power. 2. Connect Printer with PC using USB cable. (USB cable is not provided as standard accessory). Insert USB connector (B Type plug) of the USB cable to the USB connector (socket) at the rear of the printerand insert the other side connector (A Type) of the cable to PC. Plug and Play will start. 3. Select [Locate and install driver software (recommended)] 4. Insert [DPB series driver disk] at the CD drive of the PC. 5. Click [Next]. 6. A message [Windows can t verify the publisher of this driver software] will appear. Select [Install this driver software anyway]. 7. Printer Driver installation has been completed. Click [Close]. 8
2. Test Print (to check communication/operation) 1. Select [Printers and Faxes] at [start] menu. If [Printers and Faxes] is not found at [start] menu, select [Printers and other Hardware] at [Control Panel] and click [Display installed printer or Fax printer]. * For Windows2000/XP classic display, select [Printers and Faxes] at [Control Panel] and click. 2. Select [DPB-6000] from displayed printers. Right click to display menu, then select [Properties]. 3. Click [Print Test Page] for test print. 4. Check test print. 5. Click [OK] responding to the message [If the test page printed, click OK]. Click [OK] at Properties screen to end the Test Print. This completes the set up of the Printer Driver. If printing does not start, [DPB-6000] does not appear at the printer folder. >> Driver needs to be re-installed. Turn off PC power, disconnect USB cable and go through the steps for [Printer Driver Installation] again. Printer Driver is not correctly installed. >> At [Properties] screen of the printer, select [Port] to see if [DPB-6000] is displayed at [USBxxx] port (xxx will be a number). If [DPB-6000] is not displayed, delete the driver and go through the steps for [Printer Driver Installation] again. 9

Display Driver version [start] menu -> [Printers and Faxes] -> Right click [DPB-6000] icon -> [Properties]-> [Version] Version information * Contents of the displayed information differ depending on the Version. 10
2. Setting of layout [start] menu -> [Printers and Faxes] -> right click [DPB-6000] icon -> [Properties] -> [General] -> [Print setup] -> [Layout] (1) (2) (1) [Orientation] Specify vertical/horizontal printing direction. Application will set the image according to the specified direction of the print. (2) [Page Order] Specify printing order. Application needs to be able to manage multiple page printing. 11

Setting of print size [start] menu -> [Printers and Faxes] -> right click [DPB-6000] icon -> [Properties] -> [General] -> [Advanced Options] -> [Advanced Document Settings] at [Layout] (1) (1) [Paper Size] Select the print size "5x3.5inch (127x89mm)" "6x4inch (152x102mm)" "5x7inch (127x178mm)" "6x8inch (152x203mm)" "6x9inch (152x230mm)" "6x4inch x2(152x102mm x2)" * It is necessary to set correct ink ribbon and paper for printing. * For "6x4inch x2(152x102mm x2)", application needs to compose the image. 12

At default, above shown image will be displayed. By clicking [Select file] and choosing an image, a center portion (256x256) of the selected image will be picked up for preview. Note: File format must be [24bit true color bitmap image file] to be previewed. (2) [Default setting] All set up values will go back to default values. Selected image will also go back to the original image. (3) [Save configuration] Newly created Color Correction data can be saved. The saved Color Correction data may be called out again for future use. (4) [Load configuration] Color Correction data saved by [Save configuration] is called out by Load configuration. 13
(5) [Brightness] Correction Alters brightness of the image <Range>: (Dark) -10 to +10 (Bright) Note: Default is [0] (6) [Contrast] Alters contrast of the image <Range>: (Low) -10 to +10 (High) Note: Default is [0] (7) [Saturation] Alters saturation of the image <Range>: (Low) -10 to +10 (High) Note: Default is [0] (8) [Sharpness] Shapness of the image is enchanced <Range>: (Zero) 0 to +8 (Strong) Note: Default is [+2] (9) [Resize] Enlarge/reduce image <Range>: (Reduce) 90 to 100 to 110 (Enlarge) Note: Default is [100] (10) [Natural color] Choose automatic color correction of the image Color balance <Range>: Yes (Button On)/No (11) [Cyan - Red] Alter image color <Range>: -10 to 0 to +10 Note: Default is [0] (12) [Magenta - Green] Alter image color <Range>: -10 to 0 to +10 Note: Default is [0] (13) [Yellow - Blue] Alter image color <Range>: -10 to 0 to +10 Note: Default is [0] (14) [Unsharp mask] Choose unsharpness mask Unsharp mask <Range>: Yes (Button On)/No (15) [Amount (%)] Set the amount of unsharp mask to be applied. [Amount] means the increase in the pixel contrast. <Range>: 25% to 150 to 325% (in the step of 25%) Default is [150] (16) [Radius(pixel)] Set the radius to apply unsharp mask [Radius] indicates the value to determine how far around the edge pixels to be sharpened. <Range>: 0.1 to 1.0 to 3.0 (Step is 0.1) Default is [1.0] (17) [Threshold(level)] Set threshold value for unsharp mask. When difference with surrounding pixels exceeds [Threshold value], the pixel become edge pixel for sharpness. <Range>: 0 to 5 to +20 (Step is 1) Note: Default is [5] (18) [Color mode] Print in color or in monochrome. 5. Printer Driver Specification 1. OS support Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4 Microsoft Windows XP Home/Professional Service Pack 2 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic/Home Premium/Business/Enterprise/Ultimate *The Driver is not compatible for Microsoft Windows XP Professional 64bit. *The Driver is compatible for Microsoft Windows Vista 32bit/64bit. *An operation with OS under virtual environment is not guaranteed. 2. Recommended PC conditions PC CPU RAM HDD Video Card PC/AT compatible PC with pre-installed supporting OS and with USB2.0 port. Intel Pentium 4, Intel Centrino, Intel Xeon, or Intel Core Duo or compatible to those. 512MB or more (1GB or more is recommended) HDD with 1GB or more of unused memory space (more space is required during installation). Display which supports resolution of 1,024 x 768 or more, Video Card for 16bit or more, and VRAM for 64MB or more * When conditions are less than recommended level, response time may become extended. * Please follow recommendation of the application software when application handles the image data.
