Introduction MarketSight is a web-based software application for analyzing data and sharing results online. MarketSight is used for creating crosstabs, performing statistical tests, creating charts and dashboards, and exporting results to, Excel, and PDF files. This brief guide will help new users learn how to use the main features of MarketSight, providing step-by-step instructions for each feature. MarketSight currently supports Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome and Safari. How to Use This Guide How to Use This Guide This guide is designed to help new MarketSight users get up and running quickly with the basic product features. We recommend that you follow the guide from beginning to end while following along with MarketSight open at the same time so you can complete each example provided.. For each page, read the overview on the left first. Then, follow the step-by-step instructions in this section. Use the screenshots below to follow along 4. Throughout this Guide, you ll see several hyperlinks to Online Training videos. Click on any link to view a short training video about that feature 5. Log in to MarketSight and try each exercise yourself

4 5 Your MarketSight Login Each MarketSight user has unique login information. For account security, you should not share these details with other users. If you have lost your password or are unable to log in to the application for a different reason, please email Customer Service at customerservice@marketsight.com, or call at (67) 58-800 or (866) 6-76.. Go to marketsight.com to begin. Click on the Sign In button in the upper corner. Choose your server link 4. Enter your login username and password 5. Click Login

4 5 6 Uploading your survey data to MarketSight is easy and virtually all survey tools can output datasets in a format supported by MarketSight, including the following formats: SPSS, Excel, SAS, and Triple-S.. Click on sets in the menu. Right-click on the folder you want to place the dataset in. Mouse over New 4. Select set from the drop-down menu 5. Browse your computer for the dataset to be uploaded 6. Click OK

5 4 Working with Once you ve uploaded your data, you can work with the different survey questions, or variables, in your dataset. From the list page, you can organize, delete, modify, and add variables to your dataset.. Click on the menu item to view the list page. Create categories to organize your variables. Left-click on the variable name to edit the variable 4. Right-click on the variable name to view summary statistics 5. Click the New button to create a variable

4 Working with display individual survey responses and can be filtered to show some or all of the records in a dataset. If needed, view the value codes instead of value labels by clicking the Show Value Codes button 4. Export the data view to Excel by clicking the Export button

Creating can be created from the list page or generated automatically by drilling down from a cell in any crosstab. Simply choose the variables to be included as the columns of the View and optionally filter the View on a subset of responses.. Click on the menu item. On the list page, click the New button to manually design a new data view. Alternatively, click on any cell in a crosstab to create a data view containing only the responses in that cell

The Designer Whether designing a data view manually or automatically by drilling down from a cell in a crosstab, the designer is the same. Simply choose the variables to be included as the columns and optionally filter the data view on a subset of responses.. Choose your columns by dragging and dropping variables from the list on the left to the Columns panel on the right. Optional: add a filter by moving variables from the list to the filters area on the right and checking the values for the responses you want to include in the data view. A preview will appear to the right of the designer

4 5 6 Working with The Crosstab list page shows the crosstabs that have been created and saved for a particular dataset. They can be organized into categories. From the list page you can view, edit, copy, export, delete, create, and import crosstabs. The List Page. Click on the menu item to view the list page. View an existing crosstab by clicking on the name. Click the New button to create a new crosstab 4. Modify an existing crosstab by clicking the Edit button 5. To export to Excel or PDF, select one or more crosstabs by checking the box next to the name, then click the Export button 6. To re-use a crosstab from another dataset with some of the same variables, click the Import button

4 Crosstab Details A crosstab is a grid that summarizes variables in your dataset. You select the variables for the columns and rows for each crosstab. The individual cells in a crosstab can include count, percentage, mean, median, or other calculations corresponding to the respondents at the intersection of each column and row. Using the Crosstab Results Page. Cells highlighted in blue indicate statistically significant results; mouse over for details. Quickly sort your crosstab. To create a single chart from this crosstab, simply click on the charting icon by the row variable name 4. To create multiple charts from this crosstab, click on Batch Charting

Crosstab Details The Sample Size is shown for each variable in this crosstab. with continuous data will show the mean calculation in each cell. Discrete variables, such as Current Provider, will show the count and column percent in each cell by default. Using the Crosstab Results Page. To create a data view from the data in this crosstab, right-click on any cell. Share this crosstab in or by sharing a URL. Quickly export this crosstab to Excel or PDF

5 4 6 Designing are very easy to create with MarketSight. Simply click the New button on the crosstab list page and follow the basic steps provided on the right to create your crosstab. The basic process for designing a crosstab involves working your way through the tabs at the top of the designer, from Design to Display to Statistics, etc.. Click New on the crosstabs list page tool bar. Name the crosstab on the Design tab. Drag and drop variables from left to right to choose your columns and rows on the Design tab 4. Optional: Apply a filter to the crosstab to include only certain responses 5. Optional: Configure your Display and Statistics settings 6. A preview will appear to the right of the designer

5 4 Creating are created by clicking on the Charting icon next to any row variable included in a crosstab. can be saved, modified, and exported, Excel and an image format. They can also be shared online using.. Click the charting icon next to the variable name on a crosstab. Select the chart type from the drop-down menu. Optional: Modify the chart type, chart data, and many other chart formatting options 4. Export the chart to, Excel, or a graphic file format 5. Save the chart online in MarketSight

Custom Templates 5 4 Working with Custom Templates Save time by creating customized templates and uploading them to MarketSight. When exporting charts to 007 and newer, choose your custom template, and all of your formatting will automatically be applied to your exported charts.. Click on the menu item to display the chart list page. Click on the Templates button. Open the Standard Template in by clicking on the name 4. Modify the template as needed and Save As with a new file name 5. Click the New button on the templates page to upload a new template to MarketSight

5 4 Working with are convenient means of sharing multiple and charts at once with other users of MarketSight and your clients. Enterprise level accounts can choose to include interactive controls that enable viewers to work with selected data.. Click the New button on the dashboards list page. Set the desired formatting. Click and drag charts and crosstabs to the cells in the dashboard area 4. Save and view the dashboard to see interactive chart controls 5. Share the Dashboard with others through Key Findings or a URL

4 Key Findings Highlighting The feature enables you to highlight your most important crosstabs, charts, data views and related files from any dataset in your account. User IDs are free with every MarketSight Account. This is a great way to provide convenient, secure access to important results for colleagues and clients. The Page. The Table of Contents on the left is organized into folders and can contain crosstabs, charts, data views and related files.. The main window displays the item selected in the Table of Contents.. The top section lists the dataset, the name of the item, and any description that has been provided. 4. Full access users will see all functions listed here, while Only users will only see the Export and Share buttons.

4 Key Findings Adding an Item to Any MarketSight item can be added to the Key Findings page while viewing that item or from that item s list page.. Open any crosstab, chart, or data view and click on the Share button while viewing the item. Alternatively, open the sets list page and right click on any item, then choose Share. Choose Add to. MarketSight automatically inserts the item s name, which can be edited for 4. Select the folder where you want the item to appear in 5. Click OK to create the new Key Finding
