The Past > Clarity 7.5 7.5.3 was released in May 2006. Last Fix Pack release was 7.5.3_FP08 in August 2008. Mile-high Perspective > Clarity 7 to 8 was a major shift for some customers. Data model refactoring. Replaced some core tables with views and migrated data. Enhanced core UI views that customers had configured. Moved from Orion to Tomcat, and Java 1.4 to 1.5. > Clarity 8 to 12 is a minor shift 8.1 SP2 and 12.0 nearly identical but for Requirement Planning, Sharepoint Integration and New Product Development Accelerator. > Checklist 7.5 is no longer serviced. 8.1 is serviced but gets only some of the fixes and none of the improvements. 12.0 gets all of the fixes and all of the improvements. The upgrade improves with every release, and 12.0 is up to SP5. Timing > It varies Depends on database size, features used, hardware capacity. Depends on your starting Clarity version. 7.5.3 to 12.0 takes the longest as there are multiple hops. 8.1 to 12.0 takes longer than 8.1 SP1 to 12.0 due to BO/Actuate and EV migration humps in 8.1 SP1. About 8.1 SP1 > Reporting server changes require planning Business Objects is the new standard, free for all customers.
