Developed for Creative users, Multimedia Artist, Producers, and Digital Recording Studios looking for a better way to manage 3 rd party plugins and improve workflow. This is possible because UDPM works like a switcher, UDPM switches plugin(s) "On" or "Off" before you launch your DAW, or NLE software. Note: The Ultimate DAW Plugin Manager Requires a Unique ID to unlock the registered version. This unique ID can only be obtained by downloading and running the UDPM demo version of the software. 4 This Quick Start Guide is designed to give you a basic overview of the Ultimate DAW Plugin Manager, and aims to get you up and running with the software. Installing the Ultimate DAW Plugin Manager on the OSX platform After your purchase of UDPM, you are sent to your accounts Your Purchased Products page. Download the dmg image file for your build version of OS X. You can also download the License Key file here as well. You were also sent a confirmation email containing the License Key file as a file attachment UDPMosx License Key.txt this file is very important. Save this attached file to a location that you will remember. We suggest the desktop. This file can be moved to a safer location after UDPM authorizes. If you did not receive, or download this file, please visit http://ultimatepluginmanager.com, click on the Account link, log in and download this key file. P a g e 4 32
5 Once you have the UDPMosx License Key.txt key file saved to your computer. Open the UDPMxxx dmg image file Read the License Agreement if you agree, click the Agree button. After the Agree button is clicked the disk image file will open. and drag the UDPM file to the Applications alias as illustrated. UDPM will then be copied to your system applications folder. 6 After the UDPM app is dragged to your Applications folder, run UDPM normally, from the Finder, Launchpad, Spotlight, etc. We did not pay tribute to gods at apple so depending on your OSX security setting will may receive this screen. Just click Ok open the OSX System Preferences panel from the Apple symbols pull down menu, click on Security & Privacy you will be presented with the screen below. 7 Just like any other application downloaded from the Internet you ll see a warning, and be asked Are you sure you want to open it? Just click the Open button and away we go. When the paid version of UDPM is launched for the first time. The UDPM authorization panel opens. The UDPM Authorization Procedure The Authorization Panel Click the Authorize button, locate and select your UDPMosx License Key.txt file. P a g e 7 32
8 then click the Select button. If the UDPM one-time authorization was successful, the following screen will appear. Click the Done button to continue. If there was a problem with the UDPM authorization The "UDPM Registration Failure!" panel will appear. P a g e 8 32
9 The "UDPM Registration Failure!" panel If you encounter this screen, please send your UDPM receipt as a reply Email to support@ultimatepluginmanager.com with authorization failed in the subject line. Possible causes for UDPM authorization failures The wrong unique ID was entered at checkout. Your trying to authorize a different system, or user account. UDPM licenses a single user account, on one system drive, and Operating system. Multiple licenses are available on request. UDPM detects tampering and scrambled a critical UDPM support file. 10 After successful Authorization of the registered version of UDPM, or after launching the Demo version of UDPM, The UDPM "Preferences" panel will open. The UDPM Preferences panel is where you configure the settings that determines how UDPM looks and works. The preferences panel opens when UDPM is started for the first time to allow you to define and enable 7 different plugin manager's file directory locations, and color schemes. This panel also allows you to insure all selected Plug-In folder paths are writable. Note: The UDPM will continue to start by opening the Preferences panel until at least one Plugin Manager is defined and enabled. There are 7 Plugin Managers available in this tabbed interface. 11 The UDPM Preferences Panel QUICK START setup controls UDPM will pre-define all standard Plugin manager folder path locations but you can change these locations using the Browse button. This is an example of how to enable the AAX plugin manager. If your Plugin Manager folder path matches the UDPM defined location, just click the Enable AAX Plug-In Manager check box, or use the Browse button to locate and select the correct path. When a UDPM Plugin Manager is enabled, UDPM checks to insure the folder path exists and that it is writable. P a g e 11 32
12 In this example the AAX plugin manager s folder path is not writable. If you encounter this screen (above) click the Set AAX folder path/items permissions to Owner: logname etc. button. Enter your User login name, and password then click the Done button. P a g e 12 32
13 In this example we see the AAX Plugin folder is writable! The UDPM AAX plugin manager is now setup and ready to go. The Path to the AAX Plug-In Folder shows Path to the AAX Plug-In Folder WRITABLE -. Leave Extension, Developer, Plugin Type, and Tab Caption options as is. Just repeat the same steps for the Plug-In Managers you wish to enable and make available to the UDPM launch panel. P a g e 13 32

The UDPM MAS Plugin Manager select: If your Plugin Manager folder path matches the UDPM defined location, just click the Enable MAS Plug-In Manager check box, or use the Browse button to locate and select the correct path. The UDPM VST Plugin Manager select: If your Plugin Manager folder path matches the UDPM defined location, just click the Enable VST Plug-In Manager check box, or use the Browse button to locate and select the correct path. 16 The UDPM VST3 Plugin Manager select: If your Plugin Manager folder path matches the UDPM defined location, just click the Enable VST3 Plug-In Manager check box, or use the Browse button to locate and select the correct path. Set Permissions if necessary to Insure The Path to the VST3 Plug-In Folder shows Path to the VST3 Plug-In Folder WRITABLE -. The UDPM Waves Plugin Manager select: If your Plugin Manager folder path matches the UDPM defined location, just click the Enable Waves Plug-In Manager check box, or use the Browse button to locate and select the correct path. Set Permissions if necessary to Insure The Path to the Waves Plug-In Folder shows Path to the Waves Plug-In Folder WRITABLE -. P a g e 16 32
17 Finished UDPM Plugin Manager selections There are also Light Theme, and Dark Theme check boxes which allow you to quickly change the UDPM main panels screen background (BG) and text colors. You can return to the UDPM preferences panel at any time to further customize UDPM. For QUICK START leave the Use Alternate Row Highlighting, and Enable Launch Panel check boxes checked and click the Done button. After clicking the Done button the UDPM Launch panel will open. 18 The UDPM 8 Work Station Initial Launch panel After configuring at least one Plugin Manager the UDPM launch panel will now open. Disabled Plugin Manager(s) will be grayed out. This screen shot shows Work Station 1 selected with 5 Plugin Managers available and 2 unavailable. Hovering your mouse pointer over a check box or button will detail its operation in the UDPM launch panel information window. P a g e 18 32
19 The UDPM 8 Work Station Launch panel Plugin Managers selected Hovering your mouse pointer over Work Station 1 shows the selected work station name and each selected Plugin Manager(s) currently active preset. In this example Work Station 1 has the VST & VST3 plugin managers selected. The UDPM launch info window shows the active preset for VST is DEFAULT and the VST3 active preset is blank. The DEFAULT preset for VST indicates the VST Plugin Manager has been ran at least once. The blank VST3 preset indicates that the VST3 plugin manager is being selected for the first time and has never been catalogued or indexed to the UDPM relational database. P a g e 19 32
20 The UDPM 8 Work Station Launch panel assigned & named Hovering your mouse pointer over the UPDATE button saves changes to all check boxes, Workstation names, and Plugin Manager selections. In this example Work Station 1 has been changed to Ableton Live 9, the 64bit indicator has been checked, the path to the Ableton Live 9 Suite.app file has been established, and the Audio Unit, and VST plugin managers are selected. The Ableton Live 9 work station is now defined. Click the Start button to proceed to the UDPM main panel. P a g e 20 32
21 The UDPM Main panel QUICK START Ableton Live 9 plugin management This screen shot shows how the UDPM main panel looks when it is opened for the first time. Ableton Live 9 can work with 2 types of 3 rd party plugins Audio Units, and VST. As stated in the UDPM main panel you must first select a preset to enable the main controls and to begin deciding what plugin(s) are loaded when the Ableton Live 9 app starts. Note: If you use other DAW software that also works with Audio Units, and VST the plugin(s) you disable here will also be disabled in other software. In other words, the plugin(s) you disable or enable will be hidden or seen by all DAW software. So it s important to start UDPM first load and activate your configured DAW workstation, then allow UDPM to launch the DAW software. P a g e 21 32
22 The UDPM Main panel QUICK START Ableton Live 9 the DEFAULT preset When UDPM indexes and catalogues a plugin(s) for the first time a DEFAULT preset is created and given the ACTIVE preset status. The ACTIVE preset displays what plugin(s) are currently On (enabled), or Off (disabled), and is always highlighted. The Rename Set, and Delete Set buttons are always disabled for the Active preset. If changes are made to the ACTIVE preset before the Activate button is clicked, the ACTIVE preset can be reloaded by clicking the Reload Set button. It is advisable to leave the DEFAULT preset unchanged. The DEFAULT preset and all created presets can be used as a clone to create new presets. Type a preset name in the preset search box (located above the Create Set button) and click the Create Set button. Presets can also be tasked to search for added or removed plugins by clicking the Update Set button. Note: If the preset assignment check box is ticked, the Update Set button will also assign the selected preset to a workstation. Allowing the preset to be activated from the UDPM launch panel without entering the UDPM main panel. This option is useful for those of you who just want to define a Work Station select its Plugin Managers, setup a preset, and have the UDPM auto-activate that preset and launch your DAW host application without entering the UDPM main panel. 23 The UDPM QUICK START Ableton Live 9 with only 3 rd Party Instruments Ableton Live before UDPM Instrument only preset activation. In this Example we have 90 audio unit plugins installed, only 1 of the 90 is an instrument so we need to create an audio unit preset with 89 non-instrument plugins switched off. 1. Create the preset. In this example we name it Instruments Only by typing the name into the preset search box and clicking the Create Set button which changes to CREATE when selected. Once the preset is created the preset is also selected. P a g e 23 32

The MPowerSynth is enabled, all other plugins have the On/OFF check box un-checked, there is also a small o next to each disabled plugin. P a g e 26 32
27 The UDPM QUICK START Ableton Live 9 with only 3 rd Party Instruments Ableton Live after UDPM Instrument only preset activation. The UDPM has successfully switched off 89 plugins. The Instruments Only preset can also to assigned to the Ableton Live 9 workstation and made to auto-activate the preset, and launch the Ableton Live 9 DAW without opening the UDPM main panel. Of course when adding plugins to any DAW you must perform a rescan and or re-indexing of the DAW software s plugin database. To force Ableton Live to search for and re-index new or missing plugins: P a g e 27 32

29 The UDPM QUICK START Ableton Live 9 auto preset-activation and launch This example demonstrates the UDPM Auto Preset Activation and DAW launch option. The Auto Activate managed Preset(s), skip main panel... check box engages the Auto Preset Activation option. The UDPM launch panel info box details its operation. Leave this box unchecked to enter the Main panel, define your preset, then click the Update Set button or the DEFAULT preset will be used. Check this box to skip the Main panel and Activate a preset for each selected Plugin Manager(s) assigned to the selected Work Station." P a g e 29 32
30 The UDPM QUICK START Ableton Live 9 auto preset-activation procedure This example demonstrates the UDPM Auto Preset Activation and DAW launch option. To set this up we launch the UDPM main panel. a. Insure the Auto Activation check box is checked (highlighted). b. Select the Instruments Only preset. c. Click the Update Set button. UDPM first confirms no plugins were added or removed since the preset was created, and displays a confirmation message box. Click the OK button. Note: In this example the Instruments Only preset is the already the active preset UDPM will determine this and skip re-activating already active presets. P a g e 30 32
