English 1 User instructions CPX-analogue I/O modules are exclusively intended for use in CPX terminals. Analogue I/O modules for CPX terminals consist of an electronics module that is assembled in an interlinking block of the CPX terminal along with a combinable connection block. The specified limits of the technical data must be complied with during operation. For more detailed information, see the description of the CPX analogue I/O module (P.BE-CPX-AX-...) and the CPX system description (P.BE-CPX-SYS-...). Warning Before carrying out installation and maintenance work, switch off the following: Compressed air supply the operating and load voltage supply. Connect an earth wire with sufficient cable cross section to the terminal marked with an earth symbol. The I/O modules contain electrostatically sensitive devices. For this reason, do not touch any components. Observe the handling specifications for electrostatically sensitive devices. Note Only put a completely assembled and wired CPX terminal into commission. 3 Installation instructions 3.1 Combinations analogue I/O modules/connection blocks Analogue I/O modules can be combined with various connection blocks. Refer to the following table for acceptable combinations: Connection block type CPX... 3.2 Assembly The plugs connected to the connection block may remain attached whilst dismantling the connection block. Dismantling the I/O module (see fig. in section 2): 1. Unscrew screws 6 and carefully take off the connection block 1. 2. If necessary: Carefully remove the electronics module 2 from the contact rails. Assembling the I/O module (see fig. in section 2): 1. Align the electronics module correctly and carefully push into interlinking block 3. 2. Check seals and sealing surfaces, align the connection block correctly and fit. 3. Screws must be placed so that the available threads can be used. Tighten them by hand crosswise. Tightening torque 0.9... 1.1 Nm Note With a combination of connection blocks and interlinking block with metal on plastic or plastic on metal, always use the appropriate screws for the interlinking block: for plastic interlinking blocks use thread-cutting screws for metal interlinking blocks use screws with metric thread 6 Festo CPX-AX 2017-11e English

3.3 Setting the DIL switches (only 2AE-U-I, 4AE-I and 2AA-U-I) Set the signal range for modules 2AE-U-I, 4AE-I and 2AA-U-I by using the switch elements of the 2-element DIL switches (see following table). 3.4 Installation How the sensors and actuators are connected to the analogue I/O module depends on the connection block used. Note When connecting sensors and actuators, observe the instructions in the description of the CPX analogue I/O module (P.BE-CPX-AX-...). To transmit analogue signals, use shielded cable only. Caution Long signal lines reduce the resistance to interference. Do not exceed the maximum permitted I/O signal cable length of 30 m. Screening When connecting the cable screening, the following variants are permissible: Screened connection to the FE pin of the I/O plug without connection to additional potential, External FE connection without connection to the FE pin of the I/O plug. Recommendation: Connect the cable shield to both sides of the FE with sufficient equipotential bonding. If the cable screen is connected to one side of the FE, it should be connected to the signal receiver side. 8 Festo CPX-AX 2017-11e English
