Installing the SQL Server Management Studio Express The component is not compulsory to install to run Links Modular Solutions, but provides a very useful tool when solving support queries or data corruption. Repeat the first steps to get to the download and install area as you did for the first part of the installation. The screen should look like it does below 1. Click on the DOWNLOAD for the SQL Server Management Studio Express 2. Click on SAVE 3. Save the file to a specified folder on your machine i.e. C: Drive

Attaching a database backup in SQL Server Management Studio Express 1. Select the SQL Server Management Studio Express from the programs list 2. You will need to change the authentication to SQL Server Authentication 3. Enter the Login as sa 4. Enter the password you entered earlier when setting up the server 5. Click on
For those familiar with Enterprise Manager this is the new version of it 6. To restore a database RIGHT click the databases option
7. Select RESTORE DATABASE 1 2 8. Type in the name of the database you wish to restore 9. Select the option FROM DEVICE 10. Click on the button 11. Click on

If the backup came from a computer where the data was either stored in a separate folder i.e. D:Links or on a version of SQL 2000 you will need to rename the file paths 15. Enabling TCP/IP Network Access You will need to access TCP/IP Network access before you will be able to read the database from the client machines. 1. Go to the Start Menu 2. Select Configuration Tools 3. Select SQL Server Configuration Manager 4. The screen will look like this 5. Select SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration 6. Then select Protocols for MSSQLSERVER 7. Right click on TCP/IP and select ENABLE 8. You will need to stop and start the instance to recognize the changes
Accessing the SQL 2005 Database through Links Modular Solutions Open up the database options screen of links 1. Enter the SQL Server Name even if it is on the local machine 2. Enter the database name 3. Enter the user id as SA 4. Enter your password **Remember to access the user id and password fields you will need the Database User password.
