AsteraApp with AsteraBox Quick Start Guide
Welcome to the AsteraApp. This Quick Start Guide tells you how to set up the AsteraApp with your AsteraBox and how to start controlling Astera lights. Download the AsteraApp from the website: www.astera-led.com/downloads. Install it on your Bluetooth-enabled Android device. Launch the AsteraApp and switch on Bluetooth. Then turn on the AsteraBox. Pair the AsteraApp with the AsteraBox. Enjoy!
Pairing App and Box. To turn the Box on, press and hold the power button for 2 secs. When the indicator LED starts to flash blue, the device is ready for pairing. When the App opens for the first time, it will prompt you to connect to an AsteraBox (see next page). On the Settings page (see below), choose Connect an AsteraBox to switch between AsteraBox devices. Connect an AsteraBox
Choosing your AsteraBox. When on the AsteraBox Pairing page, you can select your Bluetooth device. The device to choose is AsteraBox ### (set as the last three digits of the serial number). example: 123_4567_890 You will then be prompted for a PIN code (see PIN code label on your AsteraBox ). When complete, your Android device (via the AsteraBox ) can control Astera lights.
The Basics. The status bar consists of a signal indicator, a current target and brightness dropdown, and on the far right is the More Options menu which contains the Settings page for pairing an AsteraBox, setting a Radio PIN and other advanced settings. The signal indicator shows if the AsteraApp is connected/transmitting. Pressing the icon reveals details/options for your AsteraBox. Choosing a Program. There are 25 predefined programs on the AsteraApp. Press any program to display effects on the targeted lights. Flip through the pages to see all programs. These programs are completely customizable; simply press and hold a program until the pop-up appears. Then choose to edit, clone, or remove the program.
Customizing a Program. While in the Program Editor, you will be able to browse the effect categories, change which effects and colors are being displayed, adjust the speed, the fade, the brightness and the direction of the light flow, and choose to activate the Strobe option. It is possible to rename your created program by tapping the default name and editing. When you ve finished editing, press Save. Effects Sub Effects Color Tab
Color Picker. By pressing one of the Color Tabs, the Color Picker will reveal itself, and you will be able to choose any color from the index. Drag the cursor to your desired color. You can choose exact colors by inputting the RGB values just below the Color Picker, as well as choosing popular white color temperatures. When you ve finished editing, press Save. Function Tiles. Direct Control is a function tile where you can practice effects and settings on all targeted lights without saving these effects as a program. Tap-Sync is a function tile for adjusting the BPM of the currently chosen program. To use, double tap the tile to the tempo of the music. The chosen BPM will be shown within the tile. Blackout is a function tile toggle switch for setting the lights to 0% or 100% brightness. Tap-Sync Direct Control Blackout Add a Function Tile
Add a Program or Function. Press the + icon on any page. This will take you to the Add a Tile page. There you will be able create a New Program or add a Function tile. Adding a New Program will open the Program Editor and you can create a program from scratch. When you ve finished creating your program, press Save. When back on the main screen, you will see your new program tile. Create a program or add a function.
Targeting a Light. On the main screen, press the targeting icon (set to ALL LIGHTS). From the dropdown menu, press Add New Target... to be taken to the targeting page. From here, you can target all of a particular light model (i.e. AL3-M), make groups and sets or target individual lights. Basic Targets. These options are to be used when you wish to make a set. Choose either Sync Set or Flow Set. When on the Sync Set screen, you will notice that all in-range, same-pin lights start to flash. Simply tap the lights you wish to assign to this set. The same applies to the Flow Set, but you will need to set the number of positions, then confirm each position on the AsteraApp before you can tap the next light.
