SITRANS RD Software Remote Programming SITRANS RD software allows all setup parameters to be programmed remotely from a PC and saved to a file for reporting or programming other remote displays. Data Acquisition SITRANS RD software provides a convenient way to collect the data generated by the RD200 serial output. The user selects the logging time interval, and data is written to a file, which can then be imported into a spreadsheet or other application. Installation Load the SITRANS RD Software CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. The SITRANS RD Software CD browser should load automatically. If it does not, click on the Start button on the Windows taskbar, then click Run. Type x:/autorun.exe (where x is your CD-ROM drive) and press the Enter key. The CD is accessible from the CD browser by clicking any of the buttons on the screen. 1. Before installing software, click the Readme button under Extras. Note the code number relating to the software configuration that best suits your installation (1, 10 or 100 meters). See Software Configurations on page 4 for details. 2. Next, from the main window, click Install on the left to install SITRANS RD Software. 3. When prompted, enter the appropriate code number that was retrieved from the Readme file. During installation, the SITRANS RD Software program icon is placed on the Windows Desktop and also in the Start Menu with other related icons. After, the SITRANS RD Software CD browser may be used to access the rest of the CD- ROM, including instruction manuals, a readme file containing important information about SITRANS RD Software and free Adobe Acrobat software for viewing PDF files. Note: This software may only be installed on a single computer. It may not be shared over a network or otherwise used on more than one computer at a time, except for the purpose of remote programming of remote displays. For complete terms, refer to the End User License Agreement (EULA) found in the SITRANS RD Software registration window. Initial Setup The serial communication settings of the program must be configured when the SITRANS RD Software is initially run. On the Serial Setup window, select the communication port and the baud rate of the remote display(s) connected. Note: The selected baud rate in SITRANS RD Software and the remote display baud rate must be the same. Enable remote display and select address The actual remote display address is set in the remote display using the front panel buttons. The location where a remote display is viewed is selected on the software s Main window. To enable or select a remote display with a different serial address: 1. Right-click on the screen location of remote display. 2. Click on Enabled, if remote display is not yet enabled. 3. Click on Change Address. 4. This will allow faster response time when accessing menu items, functions, and windows. Comm>Start: resume automatic remote display scanning Help menu Help>Register SITRANS RD Software: launches registration program for SITRANS RD Software Help>About: displays the product number and version information of the SITRANS RD Software. Right-click menu From the main software window, right-click anywhere on the screen. The resulting menu shows the following options: Menu Option Enabled Change Address Mode Configure Customize Function Enable or disable a remote display on the screen Change a remote display s serial address in SITRANS RD Software Select whether or not relays/alarms are shown Access the configuration window for a remote display Customize how a remote display looks on the screen Notes: Due to the intensive processor usage, it may be necessary to click more than once before a submenu or function is launched. Accessing menus or other windows could disrupt communication with the remote display(s). Use left mouse button or tab key on the keyboard to navigate within a window. Parameters not available within a window appear grayed-out. An arrow next to a box indicates a drop-down menu. Click on arrow to display the drop-down menu. Configuration window Configure in the Right-Click menu: opens remote display s configuration window. The following settings can be programmed from this window: Input type (4-20 ma, 0-10 V, RTD, or TC) Decimal point for process inputs (dd.dd) Units (F or C) and sensor type for temperature inputs Values for scaling process inputs, values for scaling analog output, Password, Adjust (temperature only), Filter, Bypass, Cutoff (process inputs only), Transmit Delay, Function type, and Cut-off Relay settings. After the last change has been made, click Write to Meter or press Enter to send the new settings to the remote display, or click Exit to abandon changes. Before sending the new settings, SITRANS RD Software will ask to confirm that the remote display s current settings should be overwritten. Choose Yes to overwrite the settings, or No to abort the operation and return to the configuration window. The configuration window contains the following menus: File, Tools, and Password. Note: Accessing menus or other windows during configuration may disrupt communication with other remote display(s). File menu Menu options File/Save Configuration File/Load Configuration File/Export to HTML File/Import from HTML Function Save the present settings to a file Load settings from a file Save the present settings to an HTML file Load settings from an HTML file Tools menu Tools>Restore Meter: restores a meter to settings previously saved in a configuration file. The restore operation will only work with the remote display whose settings were originally saved to the file. Tools>Load Defaults: loads the factory default settings. Note: Create a configuration file before changing any setting and before any calibration operation, to keep a backup of current settings. Password menu Menu Option Lock Meter Change Password Unlock Meter Function Lock the meter and prevent unauthorized changes Change the unlock password of the meter Unlock the meter and allow changes to be made Note: The password must be a four-digit number; 0000 is the default unlocked password setting. 7ML19985JW01 SITRANS RD Software INSTRUCTION MANUAL Page 9
Input tab In the configuration window, click Input tab to view the input options. Set input type Click pull-down arrow next to the 4 to 20 ma box and then choose the desired input type. Set decimal point Click pull-down arrow next to the dd.dd box and then choose on the desired decimal point position. Decimal point selection is available for 4 to 20 ma and 0 to 10 V inputs only. Set temperature unit Click pull-down arrow next to the Degrees F box and then choose the desired temperature unit. Temperature unit selection is available for Thermocouple and RTD inputs only. Set temperature sensor Click the pull-down arrow next to the Type J box and then choose the desired temperature sensor. Temperature sensor selection is available for Thermocouple and RTD inputs only. Scaling tab In the configuration window, click Scaling tab to view the scaling settings for process inputs (current and voltage). Customize Window To customize the meter display, right-click anywhere on the main software screen. Click Customize. Setting Tag Number Display Units Display Color Relay Tag Relay Color Function Identify a meter and optionally display it on the meter. Pre-selected characters may be used by dragging the desired symbol from the Special Symbols area on the right of the screen into the Tag Number field. Identify the engineering units of the monitored value and optionally display it on the meter. Pre-selected characters may be used by dragging the desired symbol from the Special Symbols area on the right of the screen into the Display Units field. Change the color of the meter display on the screen. Change the text label of the Relay Status indicator(s). Change the color of the Relay Status indicator(s). Serial Communication Setup Note: Addresses for RD200 Meter and SITRANS RD Software are set to 00 at the factory. From the main window: 1. Click Edit>Serial Settings to access the Serial Communication setup. 2. Select the correct communication port used for the Serial Adapter. If timeout error is received, try another serial port selection or check the meter s address. To change the serial address of a meter, right-click anywhere on the main window to access the Change Address option. This setting is on a per-meter basis. Relay/Alarm status Each meter enabled in the main SITRANS RD Software window can display the current status of its relays/alarms (if the meter Mode in the right-click menu is set to Relays), and can allow the user to remotely acknowledge the relays/alarms (if applicable). The text labels and colors for the status indicators may be customized through the Customize window. Logging Meter Data to File From the main window: 1. Click the pull-down arrow next to the Interval box under Logging Settings. 2. Select an interval from 2 to 60 or select manual to log the data only when the Log button is chosen (Log button is only visible when manual is selected). 3. Select seconds, minutes, or hours. 4. Click Start button. 5. Select file location and enter a file name. Click OK. SITRANS RD Software will begin logging data to the file. Logging may be paused or stopped at any time. SITRANS RD Software will indicate logging and paused status with corresponding message flashing in the main window status bar. When logging, all other SITRANS RD Software functions and windows are not accessible. Log File Sample The HTML log file format contains pertinent information related to the meter and logging selections.
