Firmware: ProJet 35X0 firmware version 5.13.9889 Software: 3D Modeling Accelerator 5.12.9890 Release Date: January, 2018 1 INTRODUCTION We are proud to announce the new printer firmware versions 5.13.9889 and 3D Modeling Accelerator 5.12.9890 For more help and information, please visit the InfoCenter. 2 INSTALLATION INSTALLING 3D MODELING ACCELERATOR Installation of 3D Modeling Accelerator 5.12.9890 Visit Info Center to download the software. 1. Log in with your credentials. Note: If you do not have an account, create one by clicking Create an account. 2. Go to Software > Printer Software > ProJet 35X0 3. Under Software Download, click the appropriate 3D Modeling Accelerator package to download the installer. Determine if you are running an X32 bit Windows Operating System or X64 Operating Systems. Right click on My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (Windows 7 & 8 & 10) Choose Properties If it does not state X64, then the system is likely 32bit Download the following Microsoft Installer (.msi): 4. Extract and run the installer. 5. When the installer opens, click Next. 3D Modeling Accelerator - 5.12.9890.msi for 32 Bit 3D Modeling Accelerator(x64) - 5.12.9890.msi for 64 bit 6. Please thoroughly read over the License Agreement; then click Next to proceed. 7. Choose the destination folder and then click Next. 8. To start the installation, click Install. 9. INSTALLING THE FIRMWARE Note: The printer must be in idle state before starting the update process. Please verify that the printer is not printing, and that the status indicator is green before starting the update. Follow these steps to upgrade to firmware version 5.13.9889: 1. Start 3D Modeling Accelerator from the start menu or desktop. 2. The client manager will open, see registered printers on the network. If a printer is not currently registered in the client manager software, you can add it by clicking add modeler. 3. Once the printer has been added to the client manager, double-click the added printer. 4. The print queue for the printer will open. On the top menu, click Modeler > Upgrade. 5. A message will appear. Please verify that the printer is being upgraded to the correct software version. After verifying the information, click Upgrade to start the upgrade process. 6. The printer will restart after the upgrade has been completed. 3D Systems, Inc. 2
3 ENHANCEMENTS AND FIXES 3D Modeling Accelerator Client 5.12.9890 The following issues have been addressed since the last Accelerator Client Release. 1. Added support for ProJet 35X0 Control Code 5.13.9889 2. Users are no longer required administrator rights to operate Client Accelerator 3. Users are able to obtain debug log files by using Client Accelerator. ProJet 35X0 Firmware 5.13.9889 The following issues have been addressed since the last ProJet 35X0 firmware release. 1. Verification Strip Option Users of the 3510 and 3500 wax printers are able to disable and enable the verification strip for UHD and XHD build modes. Disabling the verification strip does not persist, and will require the user to reselect the option upon submitting a new print job. If a user selects Large Volume Mode, then they will not be able to disable the verification strip. (ProJet Accelerator ONLY feature) The following pop-up will appear if the verification strip is successfully disabled: 2. Backing up Parameter files Whenever upgrading printers to 5.13.9889, the parameter files are automatically backed up and timestamped. 3. User Interface Enhancements a. There are several enhancements in 5.13.9889. i. Removal of redundant pop-ups ii. Abort Button is visible while finishing the print process iii. Job names no longer overlap functional buttons iv. Updates have been made to the history information box v. When submitting large jobs, the UI no longer times out 4. Email Notifications Users are now able to receive email notifications for material estimations, build statuses, part and support cartridge statuses, and printer activities. 5. JetStack 2 Over Temp Issue A small percentage of users, who installed firmware version 5.9.7889 or later, experienced consistent Jetstack 2 over temp issues. This was due to the over exertion of the CPU. To address this issue, 5.13.9889 firmware contains better handling of hardware resources on the main control board.
6. Noisy Fan Issue A small percentage of customers experienced noisy filter fans. Whenever upgrading to version 5.9.7889 or later, some filter fans would run constantly. In the 5.13.9889 firmware the filter fan setting is dependent on the temperature of the chamber. 7. RFID Issues Users of 5.9.7889 software or higher experienced build failures due to RFID issues. 5.13.9889 firmware contains enhanced handling to combat hardware failure and poor tag readings. 8. Build Report Issues The build reports would show bad data for build times. These issues are resolved with the latest 5.13.9889 firmware release. 9. Notch in Verification Strip Users of 5.12.8830 software experienced a notch in the verification strip. In some cases, the print might have missing part material on the build platform in the y direction as well. This issue only exists on the 5.12.8830 release, and is resolved on the 5.13.9889 release. 10. Printer User Interface Shows Disconnect Users of 5.9.7889 or later firmware on rare occasions experienced Disconnect on the printer UI and a non-responsive ProJet service. This issue was due to a runtime exception and it is resolved in 5.13.9889. 11. Build History Page on Printer UI Build extents and material usage information were shown as zero. This issue is resolved by the 5.13.9889 firmware. 12. Missing FINISH_OF_BUILD token Issue Users who installed 5.12.8830 firmware experienced the error FINISH_OF_BUILD token whenever reprinting a print job or whenever printing a pending job after a printer reboot. This issue has been resolved with the 5.13.9889 release. 13. Print Jobs Not Starting If a print is started and not enough material is available to complete the print job, then the printer wouldn t notify the user on the printer s UI. The 5.13.9889 firmware will prompt the user to add more material by presenting a pop-up notification. 14. TCP Issues A small percentage of customers experienced the ProJet service crash. This issue was due to unhandled exception and has been resolved with the 5.13.9889 release.
4 KNOWN ISSUES Verification Strip in LVM Any print jobs that are shorter than 40mm will cause a defect within the verification strip. This defect will not affect the user s print job. Wax Bottles that are 1.75/kg Are not shown as full bottles on the material page of the printer UI. 3500 Only and fixed on 3510 series Empty bottles are shown as None Present on the printer s UI HMS Progress Bar The progress bar for the head cleaning cycle isn t accurate. It doesn t update in real-time. Abort Button Abort button isn t visible or operable whenever the print head is homing. Viewing Status Screen during MCO Perform a material changeover wizard, the Part Verification job title is displayed on the UI Status screen when navigating from the MCO screen.
