Retailers using Microsoft Excel 2007 should upgrade to Executive Assistant 8.0 to correct an error introduced by Microsoft s upgrade. Software contained in this release The media for the Executive Assistant release contains the following software: SPSS ShowCase Suite 8.0 SPSS patch number 8.00.340 CD-ROM label The media label should include the following information on the CD-ROM. Executive Assistant Version 8.0 Patch 8.00.340 Superseded software You do not need to retain software release media indefinitely. You should retain the release described in this PC Load Bulletin and the one immediately preceding this one. All previously loaded media can be discarded. You can determine the current release level from a given application by selecting Help -> About to display the application version. Workstation requirements CAUTION: Executive Assistant does not support Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows NT Workstation, or Windows ME operating systems. Table 1. Load Executive Assistant 8.0 WARNING: The Executive Assistant installation wizard will uninstall the previous version of Executive Assistant. This is necessary to install Executive Assistant 8.0. WARNING: If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed, you will receive an error message that the installation process cannot execute C:\Install.pdf. The installation will abort. You will need to install Adobe Acrobat Reader before you can install Executive Assistant 8.0. CAUTION: You must have a compatible spreadsheet application installed to use some of the advanced features of Executive Assistant 8.0. See Table 2. System Software Requirements for a list of compatible spreadsheet applications To load the Executive Assistant release, complete the following procedure. CAUTION: If your PC uses Microsoft Windows Vista, log in as the Administrator. 1. Insert the Executive Assistant 8.0 installation CD-ROM into your CD- ROM drive or DVD drive. The installation process begins automatically. If the installation process does not begin automatically, your Autorun feature is turned off. Start Windows Explorer, open the D: drive, or whatever drive you regularly use to load CD-ROMS, and double-click the setup.exe file. 2. 3. If your PC uses Windows Vista, the Autoplay screen displays. Figure 1. The Autoplay screen (Microsoft Windows Vista only) 4. Select Run SETUP.EXE. The User Account Control screen displays. 5. Select Allow. The File Download screen displays. Figure 2. The File Download screen 6. Select Open. 7. An EA Setup window displays. It asks if you want to read the install guide. Select Yes. 8. After you close the Load Bulletin, the installation process continues and the Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for ShowCase Suite screen displays. Figure 3. Query > Program files Query > Query add-in for Excel Note: These are the only program components ADP supports. Unselect (uncheck) the following components. 20. When the installation wizard finishes loading ShowCase Suite components, a window might display asking if you want to install Microsoft Web Services Enhancements 2.0 SP3 for Microsoft.NET. 23. The License Agreement displays. Figure 11. License Agreement 24. Read the agreement, select I accept the terms in the license agreement, then select Next. The Ready to Install the Program screen displays. 25. Select Install. The InstallShield Wizard Completed screen displays. 26. Select Finish. 27. Whether or not you had to install the Microsoft Web Services Enhancements 2.0 SP3 for Microsoft.NET, the Question screen displays. Figure 12. Question screen 28. Select No to go to the next step. Close all your applications, ensure Yes, I want to restart my computer now is selected, then select Finish. Your computer reboots. CAUTION: If you choose to reboot later, your computer could behave erratically after the reboot. We highly recommend that you reboot now. 32. Log in as Administrator. 12 of 19 February 2009 ADP, Inc. 33. The Connection setup screen displays. Figure 14. The Connection setup screen 34. Select the LPAR time zone appropriate for your retail facility and select Next. A message appears - Installing latest EA Client patch. Please Wait. This message will disappear after the patch is installed. 35. A message appears Installing EA Add-Ins. This message will disappear after the patch is installed. 36. The EA 8.0 successful installation screen appears. Select Finish. Your computer will finish rebooting. 37. A message will appear Error on reload. Select OK. 38. If you are using Microsoft Windows 2000 or Windows XP, Executive Assistant 8.0 has successfully completed the installation. Configure Executive Assistant 8.0 Accept Microsoft Excel macros by default Spreadsheet macros automate frequently used tasks. The Executive Assistant spreadsheets contain macros that Microsoft Excel 2007 considers a possible virus. When you open an Executive Assistant spreadsheet, the Message Bar of Microsoft Excel 2007 s Trust Center appears to notify you of a potentially unsafe macro. This message will appear every time you open an Executive Assistant spreadsheet. You can prevent the macro warning from displaying every time you open an Executive Assistant spreadsheet by enabling all macros. Re-install Microsoft Excel Add-Ins Microsoft Excel Add-ins sometimes disappear from the menu bar or tool ribbon. The instructions for installing a Microsoft Excel Add-in like Executive Assistant 8.0 are found in KB article 948403 EA 8.0 How to Add-In to Excel 2000/2002 and 2003v for Showcase. Test Automated Tasks If you have a licensed copy of Network Automations Automate, you can test your automated tasks to ensure they are functioning properly. 1. Open the Automate Task Administrator by selecting Start > All Programs > Automate 5 (or 6) Task Administrator. 2. In the Automate Task Administrator window, select the task to test (i.e. D2D, Integralink, Dealer Pulse Pro..) and click Run. 3. Executive Assistant will automatically run the report/upload files. CAUTION: Do not touch keyboard or the mouse while the task is running. The progress of the task will display in the lower-right hand corner of the desktop window. 4. Repeat steps 1 3 as needed for each task. Additional information regarding Automate are found in KB article 948408 EA How to manually run Automate error messages after upgrading to Ver. 8.0 Install Help text patch If you are using Microsoft Windows Vista, you will need to download a Help text patch so you can use the online help available with Executive Assistant 8.0. If you do not install the patch, you will receive the message Failed to launch Help when you try to read any online help. The Help text patch is available at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917607. Where to Get Help Troubleshooting Steps Error Message Could not execute the external program C:\\Install.pdf Cause You do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your PC. Resolution Download Adobe Acrobat Reader from the Adobe website http://www.adobe.com before you begin the Executive Assistant 8.0 installation.. Error Message Cause Resolution The workbook cannot be opened under High Security Level because it contains a type of macro (Microsoft Excel 4.0 macro) that cannot be disabled or signed. The workbook contains a type of macro that cannot be verified. Follow the directions that accompany the error message. Error Message Cause Resolution Some active content cannot be displayed (Microsoft Excel 2007) The workbook contains a type of macro that cannot be verified. Click the Options button to resolve. Error Message Cause Resolution Collection.Table < C:\...\...\..*.*report.csv > is not found in the data source <EAText> You have run a custom query that uses a CSV file in the query table. You will receive this error message whether you run a manual custom query or you use an automated task that uses a CSV file in the query table. Use DealerSuite.com to open a case with ADP Alliance. Include the report or task name that you are attempting to run. Symptom Cause Resolution Your previous version of Executive Assistant is missing. The Executive Assistant installation wizard uninstalls the previous version of Executive Assistant. This is necessary to install Executive Assistant 8.0. Symptom Cause Resolution Executive Assistant Add-In disappears from the Excel menu bar or tool ribbon. This is a Microsoft Windows registry error. The instructions for installing a Microsoft Excel Add-in like Executive Assistant 8.0 are found in KB article 948403 EA 8.0 How to Add-In to Excel 2000/2002 and 2003v for Showcase. The instructions for re-installing the Microsoft Excel Add-ins are found in KB article 948404 EA 8.0 How to add back the version 8.0 Showcase Add-In into Excel 2007. Symptom EA Query created in EA 2.5 will not open in EA 8.0 Cause EA 2.5 is incompatible with EA 8.0. Resolution Refer to KB article 948405 EA Query created in EA 2.5 will not open in EA 8.0 for conversion steps.. Symptom Cause Resolution EA Query created will not execute when one or more variables has been left blank. By default, query variables cannot be left blank. Refer to KB article 948406 EA Prompt can not be left blank. For Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word troubleshooting tips, refer to the appropriate user guide or online help available at Microsoft.com. Online documentation All Client documentation for Executive Assistant 8.0 is available at your PC after Executive Assistant finishes the installation. To open the documentation: 1. Select Start, then All Programs, then ShowCase Suite 8.0. 2. Select Documentation or Online Help > Query Help Ordering printed documentation To order printed copies of this bulletin, call 800-669-7706 option #1. esupport Use esupport to follow up on an existing case or to create a new case regarding a system issue. 1. In your browser, type www.dealersuite.com. The DealerSuite page displays. 2. At the DealerSuite Login, type your username and password. These are case-sensitive fields: Make sure you use the correct case capitals or lower-case. 3. Select Login. 4. Select Support Solutions under Related Links located on the right side of the page. 5. Next, select Support, then Case Management. The Case Management page displays. 6. Select Support from the menu bar at the top right of the page and select Case Management from the dropdown menu. The Case Management page displays. 7. You can select to either search for an existing case by selecting Search or open a new case by selecting New Case. 8. In order to create a new case, select New Case. Required fields have a red asterisk (*) next to them and they must be filled out in order to create a new case. 18 of 19 February 2009 ADP, Inc. 9. Type, verify, or select information at the following fields to create the case: CMF System Name Comment Email Service Region Phone Number Priority Application Code 10. After all the above fields have been completed, then type the problem in the Problem field. 11. Include the case details in the Details field, within the details field include the following information: Company Number, if applicable Detailed description of the current issue Details of troubleshooting already performed Associated case number, if applicable 12. Select the home center check box if you only want this case to be in your home center. 13. Select the phone call check box if you would like to get updates by phone in addition to Email updates. 14. To complete the case, select Submit. A case number will be generated. Please record the case number for further inquires. 15. Log off from DealerSuite.
