Installation Guide McAfee Client Proxy 2.3.2 Managing Client Proxy You manage McAfee Client Proxy from the McAfee epolicy Orchestrator (McAfee epo ) or McAfee epolicy Orchestrator Cloud (McAfee epo Cloud) platform and console. Client Proxy software Client Proxy consists of server and client software, whose deployment details depend on which management platform you are using. Server software The server software, which you install on the McAfee epo server, adds the Client Proxy server functionality to the McAfee epo platform. Because the server software extends the McAfee epo functionality, it is called the extension software or extension. Client software The client software is checked in to the Master Repository on the McAfee epo server as a package and then deployed to the client computers in your organization. Client computers are called endpoints. Deployment from McAfee epo vs. McAfee epo Cloud Client Proxy can e managed from McAfee epo, McAfee epo Cloud, or oth platforms at the same time. Management platform McAfee epo McAfee epo Cloud Server software (extension) Install the extension software on the McAfee epo server. The extension software is pre-installed on the McAfee epo Cloud platform. Client software (package) Check in the client package to the Master Repository and deploy the package to the endpoints. The client package is already checked in to the Master Repository. You only need to deploy the package to the endpoints. Client computer requirements Client Proxy software runs on the endpoints in your organization. Before deploying the software to the endpoints, verify that they meet these requirements. Deploy Client Proxy with McAfee epo Download the product files Download the Client Proxy server and client files from the McAfee Content & Cloud Security Portal to your administrator system. 1 Log on to your administrator system as administrator. 2 Click McAfee Content & Cloud Security Portal. 3 Enter your user name and password, then click Login. 4 Select Software McAfee We Gateway Tools McAfee Client Proxy. 5 Select and save the server software.zip file: MCPSRVER1000_a..c.x_package.zip, where a..c is the version numer of the release, and x is the numer of the software uild. 6 Select and save the client software.zip file for the operating system running on the endpoints: Mac OS X or macos Mcpdistriution.zip Windows mcp-win a..c Build x Package #y.zip, where a..c is the version numer of the release, x is the uild numer, and y is the package numer. Install the extension software Install the Client Proxy extension.zip file on the McAfee epo server. The extension.zip file includes: Client Proxy manager (the server software) McAfee Common Catalog 1 From the McAfee epo menu, select Software Extensions. 2 Click Install Extension, then click Browse to locate the extension file: MCPSRVER1000_a..c.x_package.zip, where a..c is the version numer of the release, and x is the numer of the software uild. 3 Select the file, click Open, then click OK to open the Install Package window. 4 Click OK. Check in the client software package Check in the client software package to the Master Repository on the McAfee epo server. 1 From the McAfee epo menu, select Software Master Repository. 2 Click Check In Package. 3
3 For Package type, select Product or Update (.ZIP), then click Browse to locate the client software.zip file corresponding to the operating system running on the endpoints: Mac OS X or macos McpDistriution.zip Windows mcp-win a..c Build x Package #y.zip, where a..c is the version numer of the release, x is the uild numer, and y is the package numer. 4 Select the.zip file, click Open, then click Next. 5 Review the package options, then click Save. The client software package is added to the Packages in Master Repository list. Install the client software on the endpoints Install the client software on the endpoints running Windows, Mac OS X, or macos. Before you egin Before installing the client software, make sure these prerequisites are met: The extension software is installed on the McAfee epo server. The latest uild of the client software is checked in to the Master Repository. A compatile uild of McAfee Agent is checked in to the Master Repository and installed on the endpoints. After installation, the client software runs immediately without restarting the endpoints, ut does not redirect we traffic until a policy is deployed to the endpoints. 1 From the McAfee epo menu, select Systems System Tree. 2 Select the organizational level where you want the client software installed. To select all endpoints managed y your platform, select My Organization. 3 Click Assigned Client s. 4 From the Actions drop-down list, select New Client Assignment. 5 In the Client Assignment Builder, configure these options in the order shown, then click Create New. Product Select McAfee Agent. Type Select Product Deployment. 6 In the Client Catalog: New window, configure these options, then click Save. Name Specify a name for the task. Description (Optional) Descrie the task. Target platforms Select Mac or Windows. Products and components From the drop-down list, select the version of McAfee Client Proxy (for Windows) or McAfee Client Proxy for Mac OsX that you want installed on the endpoints. Then from the Action drop-down list, select Install. 7 Click Next to open the Schedule page. 4
8 From the Schedule type drop-down list, select Run immediately, then click Next to open the Summary page. 9 Review the task summary, then click Save. McAfee Agent runs the task the next time it checks for updates. To run the task immediately, issue an agent wake-up call. Remove Client Proxy software with McAfee epo Remove the extension software Remove the extension software from the McAfee epo server. 1 From the McAfee epo menu, select Software Extensions. 2 From the Extensions list, select McAfee Client Proxy. 3 Click Remove. Remove the client software from the endpoints Remove the client software from the endpoints. 1 From the McAfee epo menu, select Systems System Tree. 2 Select the organizational level where you want the client software removed. To select all endpoints managed y your platform, select My Organization. 3 Click Assigned Client s. 4 From the Actions drop-down list, select New Client Assignment. 5 In the Client Assignment Builder, configure these options in the order shown, then click Create New. Create Client Proxy queries and reports Create and run a dataase query Create and run a dataase query to return information aout client tasks and policies. 1 From the McAfee epo menu, select Reporting Queries & Reports. 2 From the Groups menu, select McAfee Groups McAfee Client Proxy, then click New Query. 3 In the Query Builder: a From the Dataase Type drop-down list, select epo. From the Feature Group list, select Policy Management. 4 Select a Result Type, then click Next: Applied Client s Returns the names of client tasks and the organizational levels where they were applied. Applied Policies Returns the names of policies and the organizational levels where they were applied. Client Assignment Broken Inheritance Returns the names of client tasks and the organizational levels where task assignments were roken. Policy Assignment Broken Inheritance Returns the names of policies and the organizational levels where policy assignment was roken. The Chart page opens. 5 Configure how you want the query results displayed in chart format: a Select a chart type. c Specify laels, units, sort orders, and other values as needed. Click Next. The Columns page opens. 6 Configure how you want the query results displayed in tale format, then click Next: In the Availale Columns menu, click column names to select them. In the Selected Columns pane, close columns to remove them. To reorder selected columns, drag and drop them or use the arrow keys. The Filter page opens. 7 Configure how you want the query results filtered: a In the Availale Properties menu, click property names to select them. c From the Comparison drop-down list, select an operator for each property. For each operator, select a value. 8 Click Run to see the query results, then click Edit Query to make changes as needed. 6
9 Click Save, then on the Save Query page: a Specify a name and optional description for the query. c Select an existing group or specify a new group. Click Save. The dataase query is saved for later use. Create a Client Proxy report Output in.pdf format the numer of endpoints where Client Proxy installation succeeded and failed in the past month. 1 From the McAfee epo menu, select Reporting Queries & Reports. 2 From the Groups list, select McAfee Groups McAfee Client Proxy. 3 Click the Reports ta, then click New Report. 4 From the Toolox, drag one or more templates to the Report Layout area, then configure and position them: Image Page Break Query Chart Query Tale Text When adding a query chart or tale, select MCP: Endpoint Install Success/Failed events in last month from the Query drop-down list. 5 To customize the report, click these options: Header and Footer Page Setup Runtime Parameters 6 Click Run to view the report in.pdf format. 7 Click Save, then on the Name, Description and Group dialog ox: a Specify a name and optional description for the report. c Select an existing group or specify a new group. Click OK. The Client Proxy report is saved and can e run again. 7
