Page 2 Printer drivers Chinese printer driver For a Simplified Chinese printer driver, contact your local sales or support representative or go to w3.efi.com/fiery/fiery-support/download. Printer driver properties not saved (Windows 7) For a Windows 7 printer driver installed using Point and Print, if you open the Properties window, change settings for finishing options (such as stapling and punching), and save the changes, the changes may be undone when you open the Properties window again. To avoid this situation, you must first install the printer driver while logged on as Administrator. 1 Log on to the client computer with Administrator privileges. 2 Install the printer driver with Point and Print. 3 Open the Properties window for the printer driver and click the Installable Options tab. 4 Click Update and then click OK or Apply. After you perform these steps, you can log on as any user and install the printer driver using Point and Print, and the printer driver will retain changes to finishing option settings. European language Windows printer drivers (Windows 7, Windows Vista) You cannot install European language (French, Italian, German, and Spanish) printer drivers on UK English Windows 7 and Windows Vista. You must install the English printer driver on Windows systems with a regional setting of English-UK. For more information, see the Microsoft website. Mac OS Bonjour printer When you create a Bonjour printer on a Mac OS v10.7 computer, you may encounter the following message, The printer software was installed incorrectly, would you like it to be repaired?. Click Repair and the installation will complete correctly. Changing cover page and paper feed settings On Mac 10.7 and above, if Mac OS-side settings for cover page and paper feed are changed from an application print window, some Fiery driver settings are not applied to jobs. Installation Fiery User Software Installer does not support partial update If you have existing Fiery software on your computer, the Fiery User Software Installer does not offer the option to add or update individual programs. Instead, the Fiery User Software Installer uninstalls all of the Fiery programs (but not user settings) and then installs the selected Fiery programs. This is because this release of Fiery software has components that do not work with the older Fiery software.
Page 3 Setup Enable Direct Mobile Printing If the Enable Direct Mobile Printing option in the Bonjour settings of the Fiery E100 is turned on, two printer entries are added when you add the Fiery E100 to a Mac OS computer as a Bonjour printer. The printer with Bonjour in its name is for Bonjour printing. The printer without Bonjour in its name is for Direct Mobile Printing. Security Account Track When you use the Account Track feature on the copier and set the Print without Authentication option to Allow, you must delete the user name in the User Authentication area in the Job Info tab in the Fiery E100 printer driver. The user name field is filled in by default. Printing Job interrupted by Fiery E100 reboot while spooling If the Fiery E100 is rebooted while a job is spooling, the job may result in an error. You must exit the application from which you submitted the job, restart the application, and then reprint the job. Printing a job with Mixed Media If you change the Mixed Media setting and then print a document, printing does not begin until processing is complete. Configuration page from application using SNMP When you use an MIB browser or an application that uses SNMP, multiple copies of the Configuration page may be printed. To avoid extra copies, increase the timeout on the client MIB browser or application. For more information, see the documentation for your copier or MIB browser. Printing on A3W and other wide paper sizes causes paper jams If you switch from printing on Letter size to A3W (or another wide paper size), the paper size on the copier touch panel is incorrectly shown as A3, resulting in a paper jam. Click the Change Size button to display the correct dimensions (16 9/16 x 11 1/16) for the A3W paper size. Printing a job with the Copy Protect setting When you print a job with the Copy security option on the Stamping tab in Job Properties set to Copy Protect, the Copy Protect images may not appear in the same orientation as the document when imposition options, such as Booklet and Gangup, are also used.
Page 4 Print options Wide paper sizes and full bleed Wide paper sizes such as A4W are used to simulate Full-Bleed output. To print the entire image correctly, the output paper must be larger than the job page size. Print options (such as Booklet and Scale to Fit), may result in clipping if the paper is not larger than the image or page size plus the required copier margins. For printing on Wide paper sizes, use a size that is 0.5 to 1 inch larger than the page size to avoid clipping. Custom paper sizes If you print a job with a custom paper size and the output is rotated 180 degrees, select the Rotate 180 option (in the Layout tab in Job Properties or the printer driver) and reprint. Saddle booklet with cover If you print a saddle booklet job with a half-fold (with or without a center staple) and a cover paper type of Thick 1, Thick 1+, Thick 2, User Setting 3, User Setting 4, or User Setting 5, the cover paper type is ignored and the cover is printed using the paper specified by the Booklet Cover Source option. In addition, if Auto Tray Select is specified as the paper tray for the body pages, the body pages are printed from Tray 1. If Auto Select is specified as the Booklet Cover Source, the cover is printed from the Bypass Tray. Select specific paper trays instead of the automatic selections. Booklet printing In Booklet printing, scaling, spine size, page placement and other options can cause some edges to be clipped. Position images carefully to ensure the desired output. Mixed Media job with Thick 4 or Thick 1+ paper In a Mixed Media job, if you specify a page range with a paper type of Thick 1+ - Duplex side 2 or a blank insert with a paper type of Thick 4, an extra blank page may be added to the job. Process the job and use Command WorkStation to preview and remove any unwanted pages before printing. Banner printing If you print a job in Banner mode (Banner mode is set on the copier), you must set the paper type to Thick 1+. Copy Protect If you select the Copy Protect option for a job, you must type some text in the Copy Protect field. If you leave the field blank, the job is canceled.
Page 5 User Authentication with 2-byte characters Japanese language only: Although you can create user names on the copier that have 64 characters of either 1 or 2 bytes, the User Authentication feature of printer driver supports user names of up to 32 characters of 2 bytes. In languages that use 2-byte characters, do not specify user names that are longer than 32 characters for User Authentication. Define Each Chapter As A Separate Finishing Set In Mixed Media print settings, the Define Each Chapter As A Separate Finishing Set option has no effect. Command WorkStation Pages missing from imposed job If you impose a large (greater than 500MB) job, the operation may take several minutes. If you save the job and exit Impose without waiting for all of the thumbnail images to appear, some pages may be lost from the job. Wait for all thumbnail images to appear before you exit Impose. Custom imposition templates If you create a custom imposition template in Impose, and then try to view the template from Job Properties in Command WorkStation, the template settings may appear blank. To restore the settings, edit and save the template in Job Properties. Editing the calibration target In Calibrator, if you edit the calibration target (C, M, Y, or K) value, do not type a leading 0 for a number that is less than 1.0. For example, type.95 rather than 0.95. Printing jobs with a pre-printed front cover and tab sheets When you print a job with a pre-printed front cover and tab sheets, do not insert a tab sheet before the first page, otherwise the printed output is incorrect. As a workaround, insert the tab sheet after the first page. Gangup layout When you edit a PDF portrait job in the Layout tab in Command WorkStation Job Properties, do not set Gangup - Cut & Stack for Right & Left Binding. The job may print as Top Binding. As a workaround, print from the Adobe Acrobat Reader application with the Fiery E100 printer driver. Garbled characters in the job log If a RIP error occurs, garbled characters display in the job log under RIP Error and Print Status.
Page 6 Virtual printers Virtual printer installed using Point and Print has incorrect settings (Windows 7) On Windows 7, if a user has two accounts that both have Administrator rights, Two-Way Communication on a virtual printer that was installed using Point and Print may not work correctly for both accounts, resulting in one printer driver not having the correct Properties settings of the virtual printer. Avoid assigning two Administrator accounts to the same user. Hot Folders Imposition template names partially visible In Hot Folders, the names of imposition templates may be only partially visible in the display, but if you move the cursor over a template icon, the full name is displayed. Hot Folders Microsoft input format In a hot folder, if you set the output type of the Microsoft input format to PDF, Landscape jobs in Microsoft Word that are submitted to the Hot Folder may print and staple with the binding on the opposite side from what is specified in the job. If this occurs, select the Rotate 180 option in the Job Properties of the Hot Folder (on the Layout tab). Hot Folders cannot be re-opened after changing language When you change the language preference for Hot Folders, do not close the application by clicking the X in the upper-right corner of the Hot Folders Console. You must choose File > Quit to close Hot Folders, and then restart it. Image Enhance Visual Editor Working with duplicate jobs In Image Enhance Visual Editor, changes are applied to both the selected job and any duplicates of the selected job. Zoom controls (Mac OS) In Image Enhance Visual Editor on Mac OS v10.6, if you zoom in 500% or greater, the slider control displays 500% and not the actual zoom value. To avoid this situation, install Mac OS v10.6.7 (a new installation, not an upgrade from an earlier version). Fiery Bridge Fiery Bridge with User Box Scan Support If you log on to a Fiery E100 in Fiery Bridge and then log on to a Group Box, you must log out of the Fiery E100 to log out of the Group Box.
Page 7 Scanning Scan jobs with both color and black-and-white images When you acquire a mixed color and black-and-white scanned document from a User Box on the copier touch panel, do not use the TWAIN module because an extra page or extra image may appear. As a workaround, use the Fiery Remote Scan utility to acquire the scan to a local disk and then open it with the desired application. PrintMe Importing jobs When you import jobs through PrintMe, multiple jobs with different duplex settings may cause incorrect duplex output. As a workaround, import jobs individually. PrintMe Driver The PrintMe Driver does not support Direct Printing. PrintMe button on the copier If you are using the PrintMe button located on the copier, PrintMe may report the Please Wait... message for a very long time. As a workaround, on the copier, press Menu. On the copier touch panel, press Utility, and then press Controller Details. On the copier touch panel, press Menu, and select PrintMe. Fiery SeeQuence Suite Impose When you open a job in Impose, always save it before you exit Impose. Some job settings may be lost if you do not save the job. Impose Custom Templates Impose templates created in SeeQuence Impose and then opened in Command WorkStation Job Properties, may appear blank. As a workaround, edit the template from Job Properties to restore the settings, and then save it to retain the settings. Other applications Document size in Adobe applications When you print a job with a standard page size from an Adobe application, the Document size may be displayed in Job Properties as Custom instead of the standard size. This is a known Adobe issue, case number 3857f1-1COUZT9. For more information, see the Adobe website. Online Help Internet Explorer 8 and 9 When you display Help files for the Fiery E100 utilities, all steps start with the number 1. To view Help files correctly, use another browser or an earlier version of Internet Explorer.
