1 1.1 New Functions The following table lists the new functions and indicates the version in which the new function was introduced: New Functions in Software V1.40: Version Function V1.40 Support for FSW-B2001 V1.40 Support for VSE-K96 OFDM VSA V1.40 Analog Baseband Support with RTO1000 and RTO2000 series V1.40 Support of external and IF-Power Trigger for FSW-B1200 V1.40 Update of R&S Visa to Version 5.8.2. V1.40 Support for 20GHz sampling rate when using RTO in Waveform mode V1.40 VSE-K70: Start of the current result range within the capture buffer can now be queried with sample precision by [SENSe:]DDEMod:SEARch:MBURst:STARt:SAMPles? VSE-K70: All eye diagrams support two horizontal and two vertical display lines, which allow a manual measurement of the eye size (Limits -> Vertical/Horizontal Line ). VSE-K70: Predefined display configurations are offered for e.g. PSK/QAM signals and FSK signals (File -> Preset-> Predefined Display ) V1.40 K6: Increased pulse analysis limit to 200,000 pulses V1.40 K100/104: The parameter Channel Estimation can now be set to Off, which deactivates the equalizing filter. V1.30 Remote trace query and IQ trace query now support 64 bit (more precise) or 16 bit (faster). Select the format with the commands FORMat REAL,64 or FORMat REAL,16 prio to querying the trace data. This feature requires K102. K100/102/104 Downlink: Added new Softkey Auto LTE Config detecting automatically the Signal bandwidth and MIMO mode in EVM measurement. This functionality only works for signals with a valid PBCH and requires K102. K100/102/104 Downlink: Supports new LTE-Advanced test models with 256QAM allocations. This feature requires K102. K100/102/104 Downlink: Supports 1024QAM demodulation in Detection Mode Predefined. This feature requires the K102 option. K100/102/104 Downlink: Readout of EVM, Power and Allocation ID by SCPI in the diagrams EVM vs Symbol x Carrier, Power vs Symbol x Carrier and Allocation ID vs Symbol x Carrier K100/102/104 Downlink: Implementation of SCPI query command MMEM:LOAD:TMOD:DL? V1.30 K100/102/104 Uplink: Supports Subwindow Coupling. This functionality requires FSW-K102. K100/102/104 Uplink: Supports Single Subframe Mode which analyzes only one subframe for performing high speed measurements K100/102/104 Uplink: Supports PUSCH and PUCCH identities different from the cell Identity K100/102/104 Uplink: Supports n_pucch Auto for PUCCH K100/104 Uplink: Support of 256QAM demodulation. Version Function K100/102/104: Supports measuring of up to 2 component carriers in EVM measurements with one sweep. This feature requires V1.30 K106 Uplink: Support of NPRACH analysis K106 Downlink and Uplink: New measurement Spectrum Emission Mask 1.2 Modified Functions The following table lists the modified functions and indicates the version in which the modification was carried out: Modified functions of Software V1.40: Version Function 1.40 VSE-K70: FSK Ref Deviation can now be set to 60 * Symbol Rate (15 * Symbol Rate before) VSE-K70: The maximum number of Display Points/Sym for all result windows is now limited to 32 (exceptions: Result Summary and Capture Buffer Displays) Modified functions of Software V1.30: Version Function V1.30 Spectrum Emission Mask: For the file 802_11ad_2160MHz_60GHz_band.XML in subfolder WLAN\802_11ad\ the VBW is changed to 300 khz according to the change in the WLAN802.11ad standard. V1.30 Scrolling in result tables is now possible by swiping inside the table in addition to using the scroll bars. V1.30 The query answer string of *OPT? is now always terminated with a comma to simply string comparison. V1.30 Remote Control: The length of the Error Queue has been changed from 5 to 16 entries. Now, after 16 errors, the error queue is full and the last error will be "Queue Overflow". It is possible to clear the error queue, e.g. with *CLS, or to read the errors with SYST:ERR? and empty the queue entry by entry. V1.30 K7: Maximum FM scaling setting increased from 100 to 250 MHz/div V1.30 K70: The error message Pattern not found is replaced by Pattern symbols incorrect or Pattern waveform not found depending on the actual issue. K70: If the symbol table format is binary, the leading zeros are no longer suppressed when the values are queried with TRAC:DATA? STR. K70: Changed behavior upon manual refresh, if the statistic count exceeds the number of possible evaluations within the current capture buffer. V1.30 K70: Switching the symbol table between hexadecimal, decimal, octal and binary, can now also be done via Remote Control (CALC:FORM). When reading the symbol table via remote control this setting is taken into account if the command TRAC:DATA? STR is used. Release Notes 1177.5385.06-03 5

1.3 Improvement The following tables list the improvements and indicate since which version the issue could be observed: Improvements of Software V1.40: since Function 1.10 VSE-K70: File input can now be selected by INP:SEL FIQ Improvements of Software V1.31: since Function CMA-K305 and CMA-K310 were not recognized correctly. This issue is solved. Improvements of Software V1.30: since Function I/Q Analyzer: In spectrum displays the trace copy function did not work. This issue is solved. Creating and then loading a Save Set while not in Multiview Mode would lead to missing windows. This issue is solved The marker entry field was not continuously updated while dragging a marker symbol via the touchscreen. This issue is solved. The remote command for setting the trace ascii export format :FORMat:DEXPort:FORMat CSV DAT is now working. K6: Fixed an issue where exporting the Result Range could export more than the selected Result Range length. K6: Exporting the Pulse Results table would lockup the firmware if a K6S license was not present. This issue is solved. K6: Fixed an issue with the ASCII trace export of the Result Range Spectrum display. K6: The first time a file is loaded after creating a Pulse channel, the measurement does not run until the user toggles between Instrument and File. This issue is resolved. K70: Improved accuracy of recursive calculation of standard deviation for result summary. For small sweep counts, this results in slightly higher values. K70: The graph of the equalizer Impulse Response Phase measurement was corrected. All other measurements with active equalizer are not affected. K70: Improved burst search algorithm robustness K70: Improved average measurement signal processing algorithms for I/Q bandwidths <= 80 MHz. K70: Improved demodulation stability for non-msk modulations in combination with a GMSK filter with a roll-off of <=0.6 and a Gauss filter with a roll-off of <= 0.4. (This change might slightly reduce the measurement speed for the abovementioned scenarios.) K70: Measurement filter for Shaped Offset QPSK modulation is now applied correctly. K70: Known Data files for 512QAM, 1024QAM, 2048QAM and 4096QAM modulations could not be loaded. This issue is solved. K70: TRAC:DATA? is now supported if the result type is Real/Imag. K70: If a known data file is used, the reference signal in the I/Q constellation diagram now displays the reference signal based on the settings made for fine synchronization. K70: User-defined standards now support user-defined modulations. K91: the remote command SENSe:DEMod:FORMat:AUTO 1 did not work correctly. K91: The marker readout now matches the set amplitude unit. 1.4 Known Issues The following table lists the known issues and indicates since which version the issue could be observed: since V 1.05 V 1.10 Function IQ Vector display can slow down VSE when choosing a long record length K6: The following commands are not available: [SENSe:]FREQuency:CENTer:STEP V1.10 Saving and Recalling Matlab Files (*.mat) only supports ASCII compatible File names unless activated in windows. In order to allow Unicode characters in file names, make sure to enable support for 8.3 file names on the drive(s) the file is being read from or exported to. The following table lists known issues with supported instruments and additional Software: Function VSE-K100/104: Using the current FSV or FSW Firmware the Frame Start Offset calculation has an accuracy of less than +/- 100ns with the current FSV and FSW Firmware K72: Using the current FSV or FSW Firmware the Trigger to Frame calculation has an accuracy of less than +/- 100ns Instrument / Software FSV FSW FSV FSW FW/SW Version all all The Auto Level doesn t finish when connected with an RTO. The Reference Level Setting doesn t work reliable The VSE Software will stop working at random when visa packages from different vendors are installed in parallel on the PC. Removing the ambiguity solves this issue. Using the R&S Visa (V5.5.4.0) can cause the R&S VSE to stop measuring IQ data. The issue was observed using the Waveform Mode of the RTO (default in VSE-K6) or with high traffic on the LAN connection. Software Installation 2 Software Installation The software installation file for the R&S VSE is one file including the main version number e.g. VSESetup_V1.30.exe. It will be referred to as VSESetup.exe later in the text. The file can be found on the Rohde & Schwarz web page. The R&S VSE can only be installed on the 64 Bit Version of Windows 7 or Windows 10 2.1 Installing the Software on your PC Performing the installation on your PC: The R&S VSE needs some additional software components to run properly. The following components are needed: Microsoft.NET Framework Version 4.0 VISA (Virtual Instrument Software Architecture) Install Microsoft.NET Framework The R&S VSE installer will try to install the.net 4.0 from the internet. Install VISA It is necessary to install VISA (Virtual Instrument Software Architecture) to access instruments connected to the PC via IEEE or LAN bus. Please use the R&S VISA. Software Installation 2.2 Installing Software Options 2.2.1 Software options included in base software The K7 application software package is included in the base software. Therefore, it does not have a separate item in the installer to be selected. 2.2.2 Other Firmware Options within the VSESetup.exe File The R&S VSE-K70 and other application software packages have their own installation item and are therefore added to the selection list during the software update. Ensure that the checkboxes are checked if installation is requested. The R&S VSE V1.40 is compatible to the following options: VSE-K6 VSE-K10 VSE-K60 VSE-K70 VSE-K72 VSE-K91 V1.40 V1.40 V1.40 V1.40 V1.40 V1.40 VSE-K96 VSE-K100 VSE-K102 VSE-K104 VSE-K106 V1.40 V1.40 V1.40 V1.40 V1.40 2.2.3 Enabling Options by Entering Option Key Codes This section can be skipped if the option key was entered once. To activate application software packages, you must enter a license key for validation. If a XML-file with an option key was sent to you see the install description below. The license key is in the device certificate or delivered as a part of the software package. The process is performed in the following steps: 1. Go to the "Help" menu 2. Press the "License" menu item. 3. Press the "Install Option" Button A dialog box is displayed. 4. Enter the option key number. 5. Press "ENTER". After a successful validation the message "Option Key valid" is displayed. If the validation failed, the option software is not installed. 6. Restart the software. Release Notes 1177.5385.06-03 10

Software Installation Installation of options via XML-file 1. Go to the "Help" menu. 2. Press the "License" menu item. 3. Press the button "Install Option by XML" button. A file browser is displayed. 4. Select the path to the XML file (e.g. network drive or USB stick). 5. Press "Select". After a successful validation the message "Option Key valid" is displayed.
