I was involved in two projects: first, I worked in the development of an interactive system for training in the security area. This system is based in people video segmenting and tracking. To obtain the people contour (masks), it is used an active contour method which uses the gradient vector flow method. For tracking the masks, it is applied an approach that achieves real-time level-set-based video tracking and others. The other project was about the development the visual tracking for robot soccer team using a static camera. The vision system for tracking and navigation of the players (robot soccer) is based in Mean Shift method. 11/2001-10/2005 Cybernetic Vision Research Group University Sao Paulo, Brazil I worked in the development and validation of new methods for three-dimensional shape analysis in the context of computational vision, being emphasized the use of 1D, 2D and 3D wavelet transforms, which provided a multiscale analysis of the studied shapes. The analyzed shapes were divided in three different types depending on their representation: f(t) = (x(t), y(t), z(t)), f(x, y) = z and f(x, y, z) = w. Each type of shape was analyzed by a more suitable method. Firstly, such shapes underwent a pre-processing procedure followed by the characterization using the 1D, 2D or 3D wavelet transform, depending on its representation. This application allowed to extract features that are rotation- and translation-invariant, based on some mathematical concepts of differential geometry. In this work, we emphasized that it is not necessary to use the parameterized version of the 2D and 3D shapes. The experimental results were obtained from shapes extracted from medical and biological images. 07/1999-10/2001 Cybernetic Vision Research Group University Sao Paulo, Brazil I developed during my master degree program a work that used the Minkowski Sausage method using exact dilation for estimating fractal dimension to SPM surface images. I described a routine that permitted the calculation of a series of dilations of the original surface, with respect to several radii. The exact dilation method considers all the possible sausages, involving pre-calculation of the distan- 2

ces (radiuses) in the orthogonal lattice, which are stored into a list together with the relative coordinates. Afterwards, I did a multiscale analysis of log-log plot of the dilated volume in terms of radiuses, in order to obtain the dimension fractal of the studied surface. For this I applied two accurate numerical methods, which are based: on the differentiation by Finite Difference and, by differentiation using a Fourier transform property. The obtained derivative values allowed to characterize the evolution of the fractal dimension of the surface along several spatial scales, i.e., the fractal dimension presented a dynamic behavior in terms of different spatial scales defined by radiuses.
