Overview How To Use Guide: 4G LTE Activation Last updated: 7/27/2011 With the introduction of 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) service, Verizon Wireless now requires the activation of a SIM card. SIM card activation applies only to 4G devices. The equipment activation process has changed to support new 4G LTE SIM card activations. Table of Contents: General Information User role access How To s Activate a new 4G device and order a Verizon Wireless SIM Activate a new 4G device with an existing Verizon Wireless SIM User role access The following user roles have access to activate a 4G device: Primary Contact Administrator Analyst Buy Maintain Maintain & Pay Activate a new 4G device and order a Verizon Wireless SIM If you have a 4G LTE device but do not have a Verizon Wireless-certified SIM card for the device, you will need to order one. To activate a new 4G device and order a SIM card: 1. Hover your mouse over the Account Maintenance tab, and select Lines and Services. 1
2. On the Wireless Numbers page, locate the wireless number you want to activate. From the dropdown menu, select Activate Equipment, and click the Continue button. Note: You may also begin the Activate a Device process from the Wireless Number Center. For the wireless number you want to activate, click on the Update link next to Device ID (view screenshot). 3. For the Reason for Device Change, select Other from the dropdown menu, enter the New Device ID for your new 4G LTE device (see the instructions below for help locating this ID), then click the Continue button. 2
4. Select Purchase New SIM, and click the Continue button. 5. Select your desired SIM Card, and click the Select SIM Card and Continue button. 6. If you are on a current, 4G-eligible price plan, please skip to step 9. If you are not on a current, 4G-eligible price plan, you will be required to change your price plan. 3
7. Select your desired price plan, then click the Select Plan & Continue button. 8. Select your desired feature(s), if applicable, then click the Select Features & Continue button. 4
9. Review your Plan & Feature selections, enter your Requestor Email Address and Requestor Phone Number, and click the Submit button to begin the checkout process. 5
Activate a New 4G device with an existing Verizon Wireless SIM This transaction is for customers who have a 4G LTE device and already have a Verizon Wireless certified SIM card for the device. 1. Hover your mouse over the Account Maintenance tab, and select Lines and Services. 2. On the Wireless Numbers page, locate the wireless number you want to activate. From the dropdown menu, select Activate Equipment, and click the Continue button. Note: You may also begin the Activate a Device process from the Wireless Number Center. Select I have a SIM, enter your New SIM card ID from your new device, and click the Continue button. 7
5. If you are on a current, 4G-eligible price plan, please skip to step 8. If you are not on a current, 4G-eligible price plan, you will be required to change your price plan. 6. Select your desired price plan, then click the Select Plan & Continue button. 8
7. Select your desired feature(s), if applicable, then click the Select Features & Continue button. 9
8. Review your Plan & Feature selections, enter your Requestor Email Address and Requestor Phone Number, and click the Submit button to process the activation. 10
