features and benefits Low Deployment Cost Flexible and Scalable Architecture Carrier-Grade Management Connects over existing CAT 5e/6 cabling infrastructure utilizing existing Ethernet jacks Simple installation: System can be deployed in days, with minimum disruption to the enterprise. VAPs are remotely powered using Power-over-Ethernet (PoE). No local power required. Cost optimization by leveraging the Full-band CELL-PCS 8-Port VCU as a second-tier controller Minimum macro-network impact with low-power distributed coverage Seamlessly coexists with the Enterprise LAN and does not consume LAN capacity Full-band support for CELL and PCS spectrum Connects to all types of capacity sources: BTS, Picocells, Femtocells and BDAs VAPs can be easily relocated for coverage modifications as needed Ease of expansion provides pay as you grow scalability Support of connected IP devices (Wi-Fi APs, IP Phones, etc) with Ethernet/IP pass-through and PoE maximizes placement flexibility Remote end-to-end system monitoring, management and configuration using a standard web browser and SNMP The VE Dual-Band solution provides enhanced, cost-effective, in-building coverage for any enterprise environment. This solution is quickly and easily deployed using existing cable infrastructure to provide instant coverage without affecting existing LAN services or performance. VE minimizes operational disruption while providing a scalable and flexible solution at a significantly lower total installation cost. The VE Solution The VE solution consists of the following main components: VE Control Unit (VCU) Interfaces with the Service Provider s RF capacity sources and VE Access Pods. The VCU combines wireless services with the Ethernet services and distributes them to VAPs over CAT 5e/6 cables. Each VCU can support up to (12) VAPs and coverage can be expanded by connecting up to (12) Slave VCUs supporting a second-tier architecture. Within the Full-band CELL-PCS platform, both an 8-Port and 12-Port VCU is offered for greater cost optimization and design flexibility within a second tier controller. A Master VCU supports a mixed-mode architecture; allowing Slave VCUs and VAPs to be connected simultaneously. VE Access Pods (VAP) The VAP distributes wireless services and provides Ethernet/IP connectivity, and PoE pass-through to connected IP CPE devices, such as Wi-Fi Access Points (AP). VAPs are distributed at strategic locations across one or more floors and are connected to the VCU via existing CAT 5e/6 infrastructure, which maintains Ethernet communication coexistence. The VAPs are remotely powered by the VCU utilizing PoE (Full-band only [Phase II]), eliminating the need for remote AC powering. VAPs are equipped with internal antennas for both horizontal and vertical orientations, and can support (optional) external vertical, directional or omni-directional antennas via external SMA antenna ports.
