1 INTRODUCTION This DICOM conformance statement specifies the behavior and functionality of the MODALITY WORKLIST module of Microprint application. This software provides the following capabilities: 1. Acts as a dicom C-FIND Modality Worklist scu service to retrieve Patient Data 1.1 Revision History Version Date Author NOTE 1.0 19/10/2002 R.Ruggeri Initial release 1.2 Abbreviations and Acronyms ASCII American Standard Code for Information Interchange AE Application Entity ANSI American National Standards Institute CR Computed Radiography CT Computed Tomography DICOM Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine ECR European Congress of Radiology GSPS Grayscale Softcopy Presentation State HIMSS Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society IE Information Entity IHE Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise IOD Information Object Definition ISO International Standards Organization NEMA National Electrical Manufacturers Association OSI Open Systems Interconnection PDU Protocol Data Unit RSNA Radiological Society of North America SCP Service Class Provider SCU Service Class User SOP Service Object Pair SR Structured Reporting TCP/IP Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol TLS Transport Layer Security UID Unique Identifier VM Value Multiplicity VR Value Representation Microprint - DICOM MODALITY WORKLIST SCU Conformance Statement Pag 3 / 11
1.3 Scope This DICOM Conformance Statement documents the conformance of the MODALITY WORKLIST software module of Microprint application with the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) standard. This document is essential in order to evaluate whether or not another DICOM compliant device can communicate with this software product. This statement is conformant with the recommended format as described in PS 3.2 of the DICOM standard Microprint - DICOM MODALITY WORKLIST SCU Conformance Statement Pag 4 / 11
2 IMPLEMENTATION MODEL 2.1 Application Data Flow Diagram Microprint consists of an application which query Modality Worklist as a Service Class User (SCU). Modality Worklist SCU is activated by Microprint application when the user requests to query patient demographics data from a remote node. The application entity titles are freely configurable. Microprint C-FIND Remote Modality Worklist SCP DICOM Standard Interface Disegno 1Implementation Model 2.2 Functional Definitions of Aes 2.2.1 Modality Worklist SCU Modality Worklist SCU is an application entity that implements the DICOM Modality Worklist Service Class as SCU. Modality Worklist SCU is started when user requests to retrieve patient data from a remote node. This prevents the need to enter patient demographics manually. 3 AE SPECIFICATION 3.1 Modality Worklist SCU This application entity provides standard conformance to the following DICOM SOP classes as an SCU: SOP Class Name SOP Class UID Modality Worklist Information Model - FIND 1.2.840.10008.5.1.4.31 3.1.1 Association Establishment Policies 3.1.1.1 General The DICOM standard application context name, which is always proposed, is: Application context name 1.2.840.10008.3.1.1.1 The maximum PDU length can be configured at installation time in the range 4096..131072 bytes. The default is 16384 bytes. SOP Class extended negotiation is not supported. 3.1.1.2 Number of Associations Modality Worklist SCU will only propose a single association. 3.1.1.3 Asynchronous Nature Asynchronous mode of operation is not supported. 3.1.1.4 Implementation Identifying Information The implementation UID of this application is: OFFIS DCMTK 3.5.1 Implementation Class UID 1.2.276.0.7230010.3.0.3.5.1 3.1.2 Association Initiation by Real-World Activity 3.1.2.1 Real-World Activity Modality Worklist QUERY Microprint opens an Association with remote Worklist SCP for the purpose of querying for a Modality Worklist. Microprint sends an C-FIND query to remote server. It queries its database using the attributes from the C-FIND Request and returns 0 to N C-FIND responses depending on matches returned from the database. Worklist SCP sends the final C-FIND response then Microprint closes the Association. 3.1.2.1.1 Proposed Presentation Context The default behavior of the Modality Worklist SCU is to propose as SCU for each of the supported SOP classes a single presentation context containing one or more of the following transfer syntaxes: Microprint - DICOM MODALITY WORKLIST SCU Conformance Statement Pag 6 / 11

Only a single information model, Study Root, is supported. All queries are initiated at the highest level of the information model (the STUDY level), and then for each response received, recursively repeated at the next lower levels (the SERIES and then IMAGE levels), in order to completely elucidate the tree of instances available on the remote AE (from which the user may subsequently request a retrieval at any level). No CANCEL requests are ever issued. Unexpected attributes returned in a C-FIND response (those not requested) are listed in the browser at the appropriate level if present in the dictionary. Requested return attributes not returned by the SCP are ignored. Non-matching responses returned by the SCP due to unsupported (hopefully optional) matching keys are not filtered locally by the FIND-SCU and thus will still be presented in the browser. No attempt is made to filter out duplicate responses. Specific Character Set will always be included at every query level. If present in the response, Specific Character Set will be used to identify character sets other than the default character set for display of strings in the browser. 3.1.3 Association Acceptance Policy This application entity never accepts associations. 5 EXTENSIONS/SPECIALIZATIONS/PRIVATIZATIONS 5.1 Standard Extended/Specialized/Private SOPs Not supported or negotiated. 5.2 Private Transfer Syntaxes Not supported or negotiated. Microprint - DICOM MODALITY WORKLIST SCU Conformance Statement Pag 9 / 11
6 CONFIGURATION 6.1 AE Title / Presentation Address Mapping The mapping of application entity titles to presentation addresses is configurable in the configuration file, see details below. 6.2 Configurable Parameters 6.2.1 Modality Worklist SCU For the Modality Worklist SCU component, the following parameters are configurable for each send target: Presentation address (DNS hostname or IP address) IP port number Called application entity title Calling application entity title Microprint - DICOM MODALITY WORKLIST SCU Conformance Statement Pag 10 / 11
7 SUPPORT OF EXTENDED CHARACTER SETS This application supports only ISO_IR 100 (ISO 8859-1 Latin 1) as extended character set. Microprint - DICOM MODALITY WORKLIST SCU Conformance Statement Pag 11 / 11
