WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM 750 IO-Link Master

What is IO-Link? Line Control IODD 750-657 High Functionality (Smart) IO-Link is the first, globally standardized I/O technology (IEC 61131-9) for communication with both sensors and actuators. The powerful point-to-point communication is based on the well-known 3-wire sensor/actuator connection, and places no additional demands on the cable material. IO-Link is thus not a fieldbus, but instead the further development of previous, tested connection technology for sensors and actuators. Simple and Compatible (Universal) The connection between the IO-Link master and device takes place using an unshielded, 3-wire cable, maximum 20 m in length. The wiring is standardized. Each port of an IO-Link master can process binary switching signals and analog values (e.g., 8, 12, 16 bits). Serial IO-Link communication takes place using the same port. The simple wiring, automated parameterization, and expanded diagnostics are only a few advantages of IO-Link. Two bytes of process data are available per cycle, as standard. Transmission between the IO-Link master and device takes place within 400 μs at a speed of 230 kbaud. The user can also select larger data packets (frame types). Therefore, greater process data with up to 32 bytes in length can also be transmitted at a correspondingly lower cycle time. To ensure that the parameter data of a device is not lost when the device is replaced, it is possible to automatically store it directly in the IO-Link master. If a new, identical replacement device is connected, the parameters from its predecessor are transmitted automatically to the new device. Simple Handling (Easy) Each IO-Link device has an IODD (IO Device Description). This is a device description file, which contains information about the manufacturer, item number, functionality, device type, serial numbers, parameters and process data descriptions, and, depending on design, plug type and housing type, for example. This information can be easily read by the user and further processed. Each device is uniquely identified by the IODD and also by an internal device ID. Source: www.io-link.com
