CAF DONATE Setting up CAF Donate Overview of the CAF Donate donation tools This guide will enable you to set up a secure donation page for a Main Campaign to appear on your own website. You will need to create a Main Campaign in order to process donations. You can create as few or as many other campaigns as you like but your Main Campaign will be your default pot for processing all donations, both on and offline. You can make your donation page visible to your donors in a number of ways: add a donate button to your website embed a donation form on any page add a CAF Donate app to your Facebook profile Step 1 Setting up your Main Campaign To start, select Create your main campaign from your home screen. Then simply enter the details of your fund in the relevant fields. If you don t want to set up an online donation page, you can select I just want to process CAF Vouchers and CAF CharityCards. This will take you to a quick set-up process. Note: Please see the Adding additional campaigns Guide to add extra campaigns. 1
Setting up your main donation fund pages 1 Title This is your registered charity name. You cannot edit this. If your registered charity name changes, please let us know in writing at: Charities Aid Foundation 25 Kings Hill Avenue Kings Hill West Malling Kent, ME19 4TA 2 Display name This is the public name that donors will see on the donation page for your Main Campaign. If you wish to display a different name, enter the new name text here and this will display on your donation pages (a maximum of 50 3 Fund code This unique code of your choosing will be reflected in your online reporting, so that you can see how much has been raised through each of your campaigns (a maximum of 15 4 Logos You can use your organisation logo or a specific logo that you have for your Main Campaign. There are two logo size options: a large logo (230 by 128 pixels, 250kb) for display on donation web pages a small logo (45 by 45 pixels, 50kb) which will be displayed on mobile devices. Top tip: If you do not have a logo of the required sizes, there are many online tools that do this for free. 5 Description This should be a brief description of your charitable mission and goals. This is specific to your fundraising campaign and can be different to the text for your profile that will appear on CAF s website (a maximum of 500 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 6 More information link This could be your website address or a specific URL that sends people to more information about your charity, such as the About Us section of your website. This is not a mandatory field. 7 Return URL If you are using your Main Campaign for online fundraising, this is the page that you would link your donors to at the end of their donation journey. For example, this could be your home page or a page that invites the donor to join your newsletter. Top tip: For speed, you can copy your profile text and enter it here. 2
8 Single donation details You have the option to provide suggested donation amounts and descriptions, highlighting what can be achieved with a particular donation amount. By sharing information about what you can achieve with your donations, you are more likely to reach your fundraising target. 8 Note: A minimum 5 donation applies on single donations. 9 Payment methods Select the payment methods that you want donors to use when donating to your Main Campaign. This includes CAF Account credit and debit cards and PayPal. 9 Note: Donations are in Pound Sterling only overseas donors can give in Pound Sterling and the amount will be debited in their local currency. 10 Regular donation details You can set up regular donations by Direct Debit. As with single donations, you have the option to suggest donation amounts and descriptions highlighting what can be achieved with a particular donation amount. 10 Note: There is a minimum donation amount of 2 for Direct Debits. 11 Payment Frequency This is the frequency with which your donors can choose to give to you by Direct Debit. Your options are monthly, quarterly, half yearly and annually you can select as many or as few of these options as you wish. 12 Payment Method Currently only Direct Debit is available for regular donations. We may introduce other methods of regular giving in the future. 11 12 3
13 Thank you message This is a great opportunity to send an instant thank you to your donors. 13 Heading This is the headline message that will appear on the screen. (maximum 80 Message A brief message that will appear on screen where you can express your thanks to your donors. (maximum 255 14 Thank you email A confirmation email will be sent your donors at the end of their donation journey, containing a thank you message from you and standard text from CAF showing a summary of the donation. Subject The subject line that will appear in the email. Message A brief message that will be in the body of the email, alongside confirmation of the donation details. (maximum 255 15 Telephone number for donor queries You will need to provide a telephone number at your organisation so that donors can contact you if they need to change anything. An email address will also be included in the thank you email - this is sourced from your charity profile and can be amended in your profile. 14 15 16 16 Donation alerts This section allows you to choose whether you want to be alerted after every successful donation is made. Via email This will provide you with information regarding the donation amount and the transaction ID. You will be able to see the full details of the donation by logging onto the reporting suite the following day. Note: If you are expecting a lot of donations, this will mean a lot of emails! Via System Postback This means you will automatically receive a file of data about each successful donation made via HTTP Post. You can then import this data directly into your database for reporting. 4
Step 2 Applying the Look and Feel The design features you select will be applied across all pages, ie, your Main Campaign as well as any campaign donation pages that you set up and also the donation page, hyperlink, Donate Button and Widget. You can tailor how you want your donation pages to look when viewed through: 1 your website 2 a mobile device; and 3 the standard Widget Note: If you are unsure at this point how you want your donation pages to look, you can choose to use the default settings and come back later to amend them. These options are reflected on the tabs at the top of the page. Setting up the look and feel of your donation page The design features that you need to select are: Border The shape of the outer border of the donation tool. Header The background colour of the header as well as the colour and font type of the header text. Button The buttons used throughout the donation flow and includes the Donate button. Again you can choose the background colour for the tab as well as the colour and font type of the text used. Once you have selected your style options, these will be applied to all your donation pages.
