3. Main Features Exterior Design and the Slide Mechanism Durable, quiet and smooth slide switch The DS-4000 slide switch mechanism is equipped with a combination of twin rubber rollers and plastic bumps. The rubber rollers are pressed against the plastic bumps with metal springs, and move together with the slide switch offering a crisp clicking feel while maintaining durability and silence.(patent pending) The 3 advantages 1 The rubber rollers roll smoothly over the plastic bumps, reducing the plastic bumps wear out and provide the user with a reliable slide switch mechanism. Rubber rollers Slide Direction of rotation Direction of rotation Internal view of the slide mechanism Rotation of rubber rollers caused by sliding the slide switch 2 The rubber rollers produce very little clicking noise, undesired clicks are not captured in your important recordings. 3 When moving the slide switch, one of the 2 rubber rollers move over the click bump, while the other moves over a flat surface, thus ensuring that the slide switch stops properly at each position. REC STOP PLAY REV REC Position STOP Position REC STOP PLAY REV In competitor products, the clicking noise is obtained by using metal parts, which tend to wear down, and produces loud clicks that are embedded into the recording. There are also products that use plastic rollers and bumps, but these too are subject to wear, and it is also difficult to attain crisp feeling without clicking noises. Switch layout focusing on quick response A quick response for fast switching between the REC and STOP modes is realized by a layout that uses 2 switches to detect the recording/stopped status. Fast switching is accomplished in both the STOP REC and the REC STOP mode transitions. In competitor products, there is only 1 switch to detect the recording status. DS-4000, on the other hand, uses 2 switches to detect the recording/stopped status, offering high reliability that allows you to record even if one of the switches fails. Enclosure that fits naturally into your hand The functional enclosure fits naturally into your hand, allowing for hours of stress-free use. Cheerful, gentle and down-to-earth exterior The mild finish on the exterior metal surface is for a gentle and down-to-earth appearance that blends well even into a medical environment. Considering its intended market and users, the DS-4000 is designed to have a more cheerful and gentle appearance. 2
