1 Background IT and IP promote the rapid development of enterprise information, and information technology development will further promote the enterprise business development. With the constant expansion of the enterprise network, the business types that network supports are constantly increasing. Network that supports enterprise integrated business becomes a key element of the network and is also a risk factor for business continuity. This requests more on enterprise wide area network. We must enhance its reliability, security, and operation and maintenance of enterprise wide area network, so as to reduce the risk of business disruption. According to the analysis of authoritative organizations, more than 50% of world s network outages and failures are caused by power supply problems; these network outages inflicted thousands of economic loss to the enterprises. Reliable network energy power supply devices are inevitable and necessary. At the same time, reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions has become a global consensus and trends. All governments have integrated energy-saving and emission-reducing into their policy agenda and national planning, while all trades and professions have also developed and signed the corresponding planning and protocols. Efficient and reliable, green and energy-saving are drastically changing the status quo that all trades and professions last for decades. 2 Network Power Supply Solutions 2.1 Huawei power supply solutions overview Aiming at the reliability, safety and management problem of WAN power supply system, Huawei provides intelligent and efficient power supply equipments which could reduce power consumption and ensure a stable power supply, and mange the network devices and energy equipment intently. It builds an efficient low OPEX WAN and makes the network run in a "low-carbon" and "safe" way. For routers, switches, and other medium power supply demands in WAN convergence layer Huawei has power supply solutions, like indoor power, outdoor power, hybrid power PowerCube 1000, UPS2000, etc. Huawei power supply solutions, like micro-power stations, hybrid power PowerCube 500, etc meet the switch, AP, video surveillance and other small power supply requirements in WAN access layer. 2

In addition, we can use Huawei hybrid power PowerCube 5000 power supply solutions to meet the central power supply for the park without grid. 2.2 Huawei power supply solutions for access network For WAN, there are various kinds of enterprises, institutions and factories etc., the corresponding access sites vary too. Power distribution room in the building, corridors, offices and the outside street, rooftop, lamp post, tower and so on has become the preferred scenarios. In these scenarios, to ensure the security and stability of the WAN devices, an efficient, flexible and reliable network power is indispensable. 2.2.1 Indoor Power Supply Solutions In the WAN, in order to establish an efficient and simple network, avoid the energy consumption of redundant equipment and redundant link, the access switches in the buildings are typically deployed in the distribution room floor or corridors. Access network power solutions in corridor Challenges People come and go in the corridor, anti-theft should be considered; Devices should have pleasing shape and integrate into the office environment easily; Easily affected by weather conditions, humidity, and dust etc. Network power supply solutions For access network in corridor, Huawei provides unique and innovative wall-power solutions. It has features like IP55 high protection, integration, saving area, easily concealed installation, free from dust and wet, and high efficiency, high reliability and industry-leading. 3

Figure 2-2 Indoor Wall Point Power Solutions Values Smallest, flexible installation, support lithium battery, good temperature adaptability; North and south, optional DC/AC configuration, wider application scenarios; IP55, safety first; High efficiency, high reliability, environmental adaptability; Intelligent monitoring, perfect battery management. 2.2.2 Outdoor Power supply Solutions In order to ensure a widespread access network in WAN, usually the switches, wired / wireless AP and other access sites are arranged to the open space in the campus, street and rooftop. 1) Switches In Base Cabinet Challenges Base cabinet is usually used in outdoor cable access network, the power supply cabinets and equipment cabinets are separated, with different sizes and large footprint; The cabinet is always located in dust, high temperature or exposure environment, which brings about easy fault and a short lifespan of the equipment; The complicated environment makes it susceptible to be stolen or destroyed, brings to frequent operation and maintenance cost. Network energy solutions For outdoor access site, Huawei provides integrated outdoor mini cabinet power supply solutions, the output capacity ranges from 0 to 200A, with IP55 protection, triple anti-theft design, standard 19-inch rack, the largest user space. 4

heat exchange, AC and DC air conditioning), meet the needs of different temperature, heat consumption, power grid (three-dimensional coverage) environmental requirements. It supports bulk delivery and on-site assembly; Not only its installation scenario is unlimited, but also its high integration design, can accommodate outdoor macro station, outdoor distributed base station and integrated base station. 2) Pole installation scenarios of AP access Challenges Various outdoor pole installation types, dispersed deployment; The harsh outdoor environment, included high temperature and dust, rain, thunder and other unavoidable factors, would cause unstable power supply, lightning damage, etc.; The large WAN increases distress to the operation and maintenance for monitoring and cabinet anti-theft. 2.3 Network energy solutions for medium and small rooms in WAN convergence layer With the rapid development of network technology and the smooth evolution of WAN, small and medium-sized room of convergence layer need better energy-consumption equipment, matching customer room space flexibly and remaining more extended configuration space. Figure 2-6 Typical application scenarios of small room solutions Various WAN solutions are related to medium and small digital room solutions: monitoring control center, network management center, the control center, video conference network center. The network deployment specification and flexibility has been increasingly high. Challenges Low power consumption -- small room only support 2-4kW/cabinet, only several equipment cabinets are required; Footprint -- network computer room covers an area of about 8m 2-30m 2, the overall layout should be flexible and fast; Energy-saving -- enterprises need to reduce the development trend of operating costs, equipment is apt to green and low noise; Stable and efficient -- the stability of business operation need priority protection and fast and uninterrupted network connectivity. At the same time, the overall network efficiency of the system needs to be improved. 9

2.3.1 Indoor AC solutions Figure 2-7 Small room solutions of WAN Small modular data center - based version of a single cabinet supports 4.5 kw IT device power consumption, is suitable for ordinary building environment layout. Figure 2-8 Evolution of Indoor DC power With the further development of the network, number of network nodes is huge, the site has undergone great changes in morphology, heating and electromagnetic of the devices have a reciprocal impact on each other. The power source, master device and the battery need to be highly integrated. With additional devices collecting space, the power needs to add corresponding temperature control and protection design for mater devices and batteries. The power is not just simple equipment that goes with other devices, but the carrier of the site. Figure 2-9 Indoor power supply solutions 11

Indoor DC solutions adapt to the small and medium sized network room solutions It can be widely used in a variety of scenarios such as new construction, renovation and expansion of the room. With the expansion of network equipment, external device cabinets can also be added. Values 200A-600A rectifier rated capacity, on-demand configuration Available space of one cabinet: 18U Highly accommodating, save 50% footprint; energy efficient, reduce 70% power consumption Separated battery cabinet, optional separated temperature control and other temperature control methods. 2.4 WAN central room solutions Traditionally, WAN is responsible for end-users to and from local data center related business. As the hub and carrier between users and data center, central room is faced with the challenges of reliability, power density, energy consumption, flexible access, performance, and operation and maintenance management etc. Typical applications include large CT Network core rooms and large ICT data center core rooms. 2.4.1 Large CT DC core room power supply solutions The core rooms of all enterprises, government agencies are diverse, needs for core rooms in room type, size and grade are not the same in different areas. For the core room with only the network CT equipments, 48V DC power supply is usually required. Challenges 12

Green and Energy-saving: 100A rectifier module with efficiency of up to 96% or more, the industry's most efficient commercial module, loss reduced by 50%; variety of innovative designs such as the central parallel, twisting row design reduces the voltage drop inside, effectively improve the efficiency, reduce losses; the average annual energy saving can reach over 100,000 kwh with 90kW load compare with a rectifier module with 85% efficiency. 13

High Density: the industry's smallest 100A rectifier module, only 1U height, the industry's highest power density 25.4W/inch3, 50% less size than major vendors'; 3000A output of single cabinet, saving more than 30% footprint ; industry's largest capacity, support 24000A output capacity. Intelligent Management: Full CAN communication, fast response; 8 load current detection, disaster forecasting of main loads; monitoring unit is equipped with FE interface, support NetEco network, a network cable can realize centralized management, simple installation and no-maintenance. 2.4.2 Large IT & CT core room AC power supply solutions Challenges Long construction duration, difficult deployment cannot match flexibility changes of the business High energy consumption, high PUE, serious waste of energy Complex operation and maintenance, costly extensive management Network energy solutions In response to characteristics of large core room, Huawei provides a large modular data center solution, follow modular design concept, Huawei provides customers end to end integrated solutions with standardized, high density, high efficiency and intelligent design in order to concern on highest ROI of the customers. Each data center of the core room in traditional buildings are professionally designed, customized production according to specific requirements. Huawei modular design concept allows data center construction becomes simple, fast, flexible, and ensure data center flexibility, can be deployed on demand. 14

3 Applications and Customer Benefits 3.1 Applications In 2011, Huawei energy global sales reach fast growth; Huawei has served numerous global leading operators and enterprises, and is becoming the new global energy efficiency management expert. In the countryside, Huawei introduced the hybrid power supply solutions, make the most of wind and solar and so on other clean energy to provide enough power for sites. Huawei has deployed more than 24000 green sites at present. In the city, Huawei integrated modular design concept with site power, and launched 5~24000A full serious site power products with power modules of 97% efficiency to fulfill the requirements of power supply in big data center, energy-saving innovation of indoor sites and power supply of outdoor scenarios. More than 1000000 sets of site power have been deployed all over the world. In IT field, Huawei full serious modular data center and container data center are suitable for various application scenes, and have been applied to more than 260 sets in the world; Huawei high efficiency UPS power supply solutions ranging from 1kVA to 800kVA, shipments of UPS are more than 10000 sets.
