1. Introduction to CaseWare Financials IFRS CaseWare Financials IFRS is designed to assist users in meeting industry, regulatory, and financial statement presentation and disclosure standards while enabling you to customize the financial statements to meet the needs of specific entities. Presentation styles and formats are separate from content and can be set globally to ensure that each individual financial statement incorporates your firm s standards. Financials IFRS can be used as is, or it can easily be customized by your firm and the installation repackaged for distribution within the firm. If you choose to customize the template, you can modify content to your firm s requirements and set how much flexibility to give users to modify the firm s standards. See Installation for more details on installing Financials IFRS. Financials IFRS provides an extensive number of formats and sample notes. It is the accountant s responsibility to ensure the examples chosen are modified for a particular entity to ensure compliance with required disclosure standards in your jurisdiction. When working in the Financials IFRS template, the software can be used by two user types. The first type is the Author or Template Author, who customizes the content in the master template and repackages the template for use by the firm's engagement teams. The second type is the User or Engagement Team, who works on client files, either based on the master template or in corporate documents from the master template brought in through the document library. 1.1 System Requirements Before you can install the Financials IFRS template, you must ensure that the following system requirements are met: Working Papers 2012.00.078 or higher, or 2013.00.047 or higher, must be installed before installing Financials IFRS. Minimum requirements must be met to run CaseWare Working Papers: Hard disk requirements: 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor, 2GHz or higher recommended for improved performance Minimum 1 GB system memory, 2GB RAM (higher recommended for improved performance) Minimum screen resolution is 1366 x 768. Minimum 343.1 MB for Financials IFRS content, libraries, and help Minimum 41.4 MB for each open Financials IFRS client file Minimum 5.63 MB for each compressed Financials IFRS client file Make sure that you have write privileges in the folders specified for the installation. - Copyright 2014 CaseWare International Inc.- 4

2. Installing Financials IFRS Installing Financials IFRS is a simple process. The wizard guides you through the installation and sets up all the necessary files, program groups, and buttons to run Financials IFRS. Financials IFRS currently does not support a network installation. Financials IFRS must be installed on each workstation where it is to be used. Please make sure no other programs are running before you install Financials IFRS. In addition, disable any virus-checking software until you have finished the installation. Most virus-checking software interferes with the copying process done by the installation program. There are three methods of installing Financials IFRS. Select the method that is appropriate for your firm. Note: 1. Installing Financials IFRS for firm customization - A firm can customize Financials IFRS with firm-specific content and repackage the customized installation for distribution to users. 2. Installing the firm-customized Financials IFRS template - A user can install the firmcustomized template created by your Firm in option 1. 3. Installing the Financials IFRS template "as is" - If your firm has not customized Financials IFRS, you should install it from the CD. The installation process may take several minutes. If you are using a firm-customized Financials IFRS template, you should not install from the CD. Please refer to the section Installing the Firm-Customized Template for installation instructions. In situations where a reinstallation is necessary, ensure that any customized files that you wish to retain are backed up prior to reinstalling. Reinstalling replaces all items in the currently installed template including any customization made to the libraries. 2.1 Installing Financials IFRS for Firm Customization A person in the firm can customize Financials IFRS with firm-specific content. The customized template can then be repackaged and deployed to staff to serve as the base template that they will use. If your firm has chosen to customize Financials IFRS, you should install from the CD to the local workstation of the individual responsible for the firm s customization. 1. Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive. 2. The Setup program starts automatically when the CD-ROM drive is closed, and guides you through the installation process. Follow the instructions on the screen. 3. Select the Financials IFRS template and click Next. 4. Define the path of your Working Papers program and the path of the Document Library folder located within your Working Papers program directory. 5. Click Finish. The template installation will begin. Upon successful completion of the template installation, a dialog will appear indicating such. Click the Close button to continue. Note: The installation process may take several minutes. 6. After you install the template, refer to any existing Release notes for information on environment settings and any issues or enhancements. - Copyright 2014 CaseWare International Inc.- 5

2.2 Firm Customization Follow this process when creating a firm-customized template: 1. Review the content included in the master file. You may prefer to maintain the default content provided and not make any of your own changes. In that case, just distribute the original Financials IFRS installation provided by CaseWare; there is no need to repackage. 2. Customize any of the content in the Master file for your firm standards. 3. Repackage the customized template. 4. Distribute the repackaged installation to your users. The user then installs and applies the firm customized version of the template to the client files. For more detailed information, consult the help or the CaseWare QuickVids at www.caseware.com. 2.3 Installing the Firm-Customized Template If your firm has customized the Financials IFRS template, you need to install the customized template on your workstation. 1. Using Windows Explorer, locate the FinancialsIFRS11.00Setup.cwp file. Your firm should provide the location of this file. 2. Double-click the file and the Setup program opens. The on-screen instructions will guide you through the installation process. 3. Define the path of your Working Papers program and the path of the Document Library folder located within your Working Papers program directory. 4. Click Finish. The template installation will begin. Upon successful completion of the template installation, a dialog will appear indicating such. Click the Close button to continue. Note: The installation process may take several minutes. 5. After the installation is complete, refer to any existing Release notes for information on environment settings and any issues or enhancements. 2.4 Installing the Financials IFRS Template "as is" If your firm has not customized the Financials IFRS template, you should install it from the CD. If you are using a firm-customized Financials IFRS template, you should not install it from the CD. Please refer to the section Installing the Firm-Customized Template for installation instructions. 1. Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive. 2. The Setup program starts automatically when the CD-ROM drive is closed, and guides you through the installation process. The on-screen instructions will guide you through the installation process. - Copyright 2014 CaseWare International Inc.- 6

2.5 Troubleshooting: Did you encounter problems? Make sure that you have write privileges in the directories specified for the installation. Make sure that there is enough free disk space on the hard drive to meet the system requirements. Refer to the Norton AntiVirus section below if you receive a message indicating a malicious script being detected. 2.6 1 Norton AntiVirus If you are using Norton AntiVirus and running Financials IFRS, you may receive a warning from Norton that a malicious script has been detected. This warning tells you that a running program is creating documents on your system. Since this is how Financials IFRS generates many of its files, Norton AntiVirus identifies Financials IFRS as a potential problem. The first time that the message appears, select the option Authorize this Script to tell Norton that it is a trusted application. This prevents any future alerts when using Financials IFRS. Note that activities by the FileSystemObject continue to be monitored, so any worms using this object will still be detected. 1 Symantec, DeepSight, NetBackup, Norton AntiVirus, and Veritas are trademarks or registered trademarks of Symantec Corporation or its affiliates in the U.S. and other countries.
