Window Menu 1. Window > Cascade Windows All open windows that aren't minimized at the bottom of the screen will be offset diagonally so you can see the title bar of each. 2. Window > Tile Windows All open windows that aren't minimized at the bottom of the screen will be arranged so that they fill the screen without overlapping. 3. Windows > Stack Design Windows All design windows will be resized the same size as the active window and stacked behind it so that only the active window is visible. 4. Windows > Arrange Icons If you have a number of windows minimized, it will neatly arrange the icons for those windows. Page 1 of 10 Revised 4/10/2009

5. Show Welcome Dialog Specifies whether the "Welcome to Hummingbird BI" dialog box opens when you start the program. A check mark beside the menu item indicates that the dialog box opens at startup. To enable or disable this feature, click the menu item. If you click the "Show this dialog at startup" to clear the checkmark when you are in the "Welcome to Hummingbird BI Query" dialog box, use the Window menu "Show Welcome Dialog" to restore it later. 6. List of Active Windows Displays a list of active windows. Only shows up to 9 windows. 7. More Windows Opens the Select Window dialog box, which displays all open windows in a scrollable list and lets you select which window you want to make active. This menu item is available only when there are ten or more open windows. Page 2 of 10 Revised 4/10/2009

There is a known bug in this box. Once you get about 11 windows open, selecting a window will bring up instead the window above it. The work around is to select the window below the one you really want, or close some windows, if you have unneeded reports or results sets open. If you really want the bottom window, either select that window another way, or open a new window so that it will no longer be the bottom window. Closing Windows You can't close most model windows. If you click the red X on most model windows, the window will just minimize. The exception is that closing the first window created in the model will close the entire model, sometimes without warning. In Retail Golf, if you try to close any window other than the Sales window, it will just minimize at the bottom of the screen. If you try to close the Sales window, e.g., the window containing the Sales Road Map, you will close the entire model. There is a known bug in BI Query version 9 related to windows sizing. If the results window isn't fully maximized, and has more columns that will display without scrolling, the initial size of the results window is larger than the display area. This means that the scroll bar on the right side of the results set window, and the maximize, minimize and close buttons in the upper right hand corner are not easily accessible. Go to the Sales Road Map Open the Store object. Select all the attributes and submit the query. Page 3 of 10 Revised 4/10/2009

The scroll bar that is visible on the right side of the window is for the display area for the entire application, not just for the results set. There are some alternatives you can choose as work arounds to access the Maximize, Minimize, and Close functions. 1. Single-click on the icon in the upper left of the results set window, just to the left of the results set name in the title bar, to get a shortcut menu of window options or double-click to close the results set. or Page 4 of 10 Revised 4/10/2009

2. Double-click on the results window title-bar (but not on the icon), to maximize the window within the application window so that the window control icons are in the upper right of the screen, just below those for the application. 3. Repeatedly click and drag the title bar of the results set until you have moved it far enough to see the upper right corner of the window. This is generally the least efficient option. Page 5 of 10 Revised 4/10/2009

The Form View window also has a similar bug. When entered from a maximized window, the window doesn't have a vertical scroll bar on the right side, so you can't scroll down to see the rest of the fields. To get the scroll bar to appear, click the Restore Down button to resize it back to a floating window, and then maximize it again. Navigation Toolbar The navigation toolbar lets you navigate across and within data model windows, and resize the contents of Design windows. To keep track of the order in which you visit windows in a data model, BI Query maintains a navigation history list. The history list records the order of any design, query, results, attribute, super query, and standard reports windows that you have opened (up to a maximum of 10 windows). The navigation toolbar also lets you navigate through this list. Page 6 of 10 Revised 4/10/2009

If the navigation toolbar isn't displayed in your model, you can turn it on. View > Toolbar > Navigation The Navigation toolbar contains the following objects: Home Button Opens the startup window for the data model. Back Button Opens the previous window in the navigation history list. To open a particular window in the list, click the down arrow button besidee the Back button; then, select the window from the menu that opens. Next Button Opens the next window in the navigation history list. Use the down arrow button beside the Next button to open a particular window. Design Window List Listss the Design windows in the data model. To navigate to a particular Design window, select it from the list. Actual Size Button Resizes the contents of the active Design window to their original size. Fit in Window Button Resizes the contents of the active Design window so that they fit within the Design window. Zoom In Button Increasess the current magnification of the active Design window by 10%. Zoom Out Button Decreases the current magnification of the active Design window by 10%. Pan Button Changes the mouse pointer into a multidirectional scrolling tool. Find Tool Locates items (attributes and data objects) within the current Design window. Type the full or partial name of the item into the Find box, and then click the Find Next button to locate all matching items in the current Design window. If BI Query finds any items that match the search text, it opens the corresponding item in the appropriate window and selects the matching item. You can also use the Find dialog box to locate items. Find Next Button Locates matching items (attributes and data objects) in the current Design window. Click repeatedly to find successive matches. Create New Model Window You can create a window that you can customize and save in the user layer of your model. Drawing > Windows Click in the Name box. Type a new window name, like "My New Window". Click the right arrow to create it. Page 7 of 10 Revised 4/10/2009

Click Close. to exit design mode. File > Save (Please don t do this step in the lab.) Rename Model Window You can go back later and change the name of a window that you created. Drawing > Windows Select a user-created design window, like "My New Window". Click in the Name box and make the desired changes. Click the Rename button to apply the changes Click Close File > Save (Please don t do this step in the lab.) Create Button to Navigate to New Window In addition to creating buttons to run queries/reports, you can create a button that will navigate you to the desired design window. Navigate to My New Window. Right-click and choose Create Button Page 8 of 10 Revised 4/10/2009

You can leave the "Name" and "Output to" areas alone. The Name is used internally but not displayed, so there is no need to change from the default. The "Output to" section is not applicable in this situation. Select My New Window under Locations, if it isn't already selected. An object can appear on one or more design windows. If it repeats on multiple windows, it will be exactly the same on each window and will appear in exactly the same position, regardless of what else is on the other windows in that location. You can Shift-click or Ctrl-click to select additional windows. Click" Edit Text " to define the appearance of the button. Type the name "Sales Reports" and format the text, then click OK. Check Border, if you want a 3-D effect to make it look like a raised button. Instead of text, if you have an icon file or picture file that you want to use on the button instead, choose the desired option and select or apply the desired picture by pasting it from the Windows Clipboard. Type "This button will take you to the Sales Reports window" as the screen tip. After the button has been created, when you hover over it with your mouse, the text description will pop up adding more info to the text or graphics on the button. Use the drop down to select Design Window in the "Link to" section instead of the default of query. Then use the drop down box to the right to select the desired design window that clicking on the button will take you to (Sales Reports, in our example). When done, click OK. Move or resize the button as needed. When satisfied, exit design mode and save your changes (unless you are in the lab). Page 9 of 10 Revised 4/10/2009

Insert Object You can insert an embedded object into your model window. The menus and toolbars from the application associated with your object will be accessible from within BI Query. Navigate to the results set we created earlier, or rerun the query on the Store object from the Sales Road Map window. Copy some Store IDs Navigate to My New Window. Edit > Insert Object Create New Select MS Office Excel Worksheet Click OK Paste the IDs Click outside the worksheet to deselect it. Move and resize as needed. File > Save (Please don t do this step in the lab.) to save this object in the user layer of your model. To use those IDs later, double-click on the object and select the IDs. Delete Model Window You can go back later and delete a window that you created. Drawing > Windows Select a design window Click the Delete button Click Close File > Save (Please don t do this step in the lab.) Page 10 of 10 Revised 4/10/2009
