Inspection rates vary depending on spring diameters from 80 to 200 springs per minute. NCTP-Non Contact Thread Inspection System NCTP instruments are used to "error proof" automatic machining processes such as threading. Spring-loaded, inductive probes sense internal threads by the amount of metal removed or displaced in the tapping/rolling operation. Variations in shape and amount of metal in the electromagnetic field are detected and displayed on a digital touch pad screen.

It s a high-speed vision based measuring machine that uses a series of front and back lit cameras to calculate a part s height, profile and inner/outer diameters. Microsoft Windows based software makes part setup easy, and allows for part storage and retrieval. Optional cameras are available to check for internal threads and surface imperfections. And optional Eddy Current lets you check for metallurgical defects such as cracks, seams, and missing features (like weld nibs and chamfers) along with plating or hardness variations. Tilt head laser technology, precision split/narrow laser beams, multi laser velocity gauge and three wire modeling with true system 22 thread measuring capability are all GI s inventions. They re used to accurately measure all profile characteristics on cylindrical parts. The tilt head laser automatically positions itself to the appropriate angle to remove cosine error. Time saving software measures external features and easily scrolls across the screen to display every feature s details. A three wire thread modeling technique is used to measure thread characteristics on every part. The laser optics system with its narrow/split laser beam allows accurate measurements of small non-symmetric features. SOFTWARE User-friendly, menu-driven software allows for easy navigation to all areas and simple part set-up and retrieval from just one screen. Add features by highlighting the area that needs inspection and then select the desired feature to be added. Edit the tolerances from the same screen. Digital Eddy Current allows for easy user interface. A zoom feature allows detection of smaller variations in part signatures. Automatic signal optimization allows for quick learn good/learn bad part set-up. Vision software allows for the user to easily set up features to inspect for head cracks and defective tool cavity. By utilizing sophisticated image analysis software, surface and lighting variations are minimized. Capable of analyzing a wide variety of head configurations. Data reports tell you which parts have passed and which have failed based on actual print dimensions. Part reports include data on all selected external features. And because the software uses Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) for storing all inspection data, the information on the report can be accessed remotely by any computer connected to the network.
FEEDERS Each feed system is equipped with metering to provide proper part spacing. This eliminates false rejects caused by parts traveling too closely together through the sensing zones.
