TM ISGS Intelligent SwitchGear System The Flexible Solution

Multi-Function Flexibility At The Touch Of A Key Siemens introduces the ISGS Intelligent SwitchGear System a remarkable new development in switchgear protection and monitoring. A development so flexible, you can reconfigure it from a keypad in a matter of minutes without having to replace your hardware. Plus a development so advanced, it combines protection, metering, data logging, breaker monitoring and communications into one simple-to-use unit. Protection That s Flexible And Compact For all its advanced microprocessor technology and multi-function features, Siemens ISGS Intelligent SwitchGear System is extremely flexible to work with. Its easy-tofollow configuration routine puts you totally in command. The base ISGS relay device provides 3-phase plus ground time and/or instantaneous overcurrent protection allowing you to replace four time overcurrent relays, an ammeter and a switch with just one compact unit. Moreover, its large 16-character, 2-line front panel display lets you Parameters That Change With Your Needs Electromechanical relays have their place. But you just can t stop with one. Even simple relaying arrangements, such as 3-phase plus ground overcurrent protection, require multiple relays. Add metering devices, transfer switches and communications devices, and soon you ve outgrown a standard instrument panel. Worse yet, when your needs change, you have to start over, respecifying and reinstalling new hardware. Or else making do with protection that doesn t fit the new requirements. But not with the Siemens ISGS digital microprocessor relay. Instead of limiting you to just one configuration, the ISGS unit comes with nine overcurrent curve types each one pre-loaded and field selectable. So, as your process control needs change, you can change relay or metering parameters by simply entering new values on the keypad. visually monitor all settings, configuration changes and testing parameters. An array of standard and optional metering values is also displayed, including: (Standard ISGS Metering Functions) Configu RMS and average RMS currents Ampere demand (per phase & average) (Power Metering Option) RMS and average RMS voltages Active power (kwatts) kw demand kw hours Apparent power (kva) Volt-amperes reactive (kvar) kvar hours Power factor Frequency Double The Warranty Siemens Intelligent SwitchGear System is intelligent in more ways than one. Because now, whenever you specify ISGS units for any Siemens Switchgear, you ll receive a 2-year warranty on the entire system breaker, switchgear and all. 2

Trip source and trip coil monitor (for DC control power) 2-year warranty on Siemens Switchgear furnished with ISGS devices Multiple protective functions (51, 50, 47, 27, 67 and more) LED status, pickup and trip indicators Metering of phase and ground currents Local LCD display of metered values and trip logs System data/event logging rable Drawout case (M1 size) compatiblewith commonly used XLA test plugs Keypad for local setting and control ACCESS Compatible

Advanced Communications For Efficient Power System Management A Comprehensive Data Center. Did you ever wish your electromechanical relay could tell you it s working? Or draw you a picture of your harmonic disturbances? Well the ISGS unit can. It communicates an alarm whenever your selected setpoint values are exceeded. In addition, the ISGS unit provides extensive logs of system events a real advantage for system analysis. The ISGS unit maintains a detailed log of system events for the last 8 trips, including information on pickups, dropouts and contact closures. It also maintains detailed logs on breaker activity, trips and min/max metering information. Plus it allows you to capture and analyze fault waveforms using software for an IBM compatible PC. Waveform Capture Lets You See Potential Problems When it comes to disturbance analysis, the ISGS unit lets you see the complete harmonic picture. The relay automatically samples and captures waveform sets and stores the information in a buffer allowing you to freeze and retrieve waveform data on your PC. At a trip, waveform collection with the ISGS relay is automatic so you always have the data you need to determine what happened. Using WinPM TM software, you can also determine the extent of harmonic pollution and the need for corrective action. Logged Data Helps You Analyze Events With the ISGS relay, you ll have easy access to important information about your system. Like a detective, it pinpoints the exact source of a 4 problem. More importantly, it provides data that can help you analyze events and prevent their recurrence. The ISGS unit continually monitors the power system and records historic data in several different logs for easy retrieval: Trip Log The Trip Log records information on the last 8 trip events, including time, date, interrupted amps, time in pickup and other pertinent data. Trip Log information aids in restoring the system immediately following a trip. Event Log The Event Log monitors relay functions for status changes and records data available when one occurs, organizing the event parameters in time-order. The Event Log helps you analyze the cause of events and take action to prevent recurrence thus giving you greater management control over your power system. Min/Max Logs The Min/Max logs store data from metering functions, including current, voltage, power and frequency. All entries are time stamped. In combination with the Event Log, it Direct Connection To ACCESS TM also can help identify changes in the For enhanced communications and system that can prevent similar control, the ISGS relay can be connected to the ACCESS electrical distribu- problems in the future. tion communications system. This allows you to monitor and control ISGS units from a central or remote location. Even without remote communications, you can still connect a PC to the front port to configure the ISGS relay, retrieve historic data from the logs or capture a waveform for analysis. Comm

Keep Up With Your Breakers In addition to system monitoring, ISGS relays help you keep up with historic data on individual breakers. You can access information about each breaker, including accumulated interrupted amps, number of in-service tripping operations and similar data. Like all other ISGS device data, this information is accessible through a local PC or via the ACCESS Communications System. nicating5

Built-In Flexibility Means More Protective Advantages For You Over and/or under voltage protection (59/27) Phase and ground directional overcurrent protection (67/67N) Phase sequence protection (47) Over and/or under frequency protection (81 O/U) Directional power protection (32) Four-shot reclosing (79) Extended input/output capability Add New Options As You Need Them Expanding your ISGS device is simple. What s more, it can be done at the factory or in the field. The first level of ISGS options includes voltage inputs for voltage and power metering. Additional ISGS options under development Wiring is easy. The ISGS relay even include: accepts ring-tongue terminals for current and control power connections. Multifunc Keyboard and function keys are inte- 6 grated into a membrane keypad. And the large 16-character by 2-line LCD screen makes setting and monitoring relay functions a breeze. Specify ISGS For Efficiency And Savings In a hurry? Selecting the Siemens ISGS relay can reduce switchgear cycle time from initial concept through delivery by weeks or months. Even better, when you specify ISGS units on any Siemens Switchgear, you ll receive double the warranty. That s 2 years instead of just one. Designed For Easy Configuration With the ISGS relay, you re not locked into one configuration as you are with electromechanical devices. Instead, you can add options or change configurations at any time without the expense of discarding the basic hardware. New configuration settings are keyed in directly using the ISGS keypad. The front of the relay also features a local communications port for device configuration and communication with a local PC. Simplifies Installation The ISGS device does away with the costly wiring, drilling and debugging time required to install multiple electromagnetic relays. With the ISGS unit, everything you need for switchgear protection fits in a standard M-1 drawout case. So find out today how Siemens ISGS Intelligent SwitchGear System can save you time, money and space on your next switchgear installation.
