Introduction This document explains how to install Citrix receiver and how to use it to remotely connect to your European Parliament standard configuration desktop environment. This will allow you to work is the same environment as in the office from any device anywhere in world with an internet connection. Giving you access to all the files and software that you can normally use only in the office. In this guide you will learn how to install Citrix Receiver and how to use it to remotely access your work desktop on an Apple ipad. Prerequisites Install and connect with ipad To be able to use Citrix Receiver to remotely connect to your work desktop you need: - An Internet connection, - An RSA key for secure authentication (hard token or SMS token), - You must be a member of the Remote Desktop Services group. Page 3/20

1 Download and Install Citrix Receiver Go to the App Store and search for the "Citrix Receiver" application. Download and install the application. A new icon is now available. Page 4/20

2 Security Authentication If you are connected to an internet network within a European Parliament building go straight to step 3. If you are connected to the internet from anywhere else you must be allowed through the European Parliament firewall. You must complete this step every time you want to use Citrix Receiver outside an EP WIFI network. Open Safari and go to... It is recommended that you add the address to your "favorites" folder because you will need to repeat this step whenever you connect with Citrix from a non EP network. If your main work location is in Brussels, go to this address: https://bauth1.europarl.europa. eu:8443/ If your main work location is in Luxembourg, go to this address: https://lauth1.europarl.europa. eu:8443/ Input your EP user name (The same one you user to access the computers in the office) and tap on "Submit". The next step depend of your RSA authentication method. Page 5/20

2.1 Case 1: You have a physical token. Input your personal pin-code followed by the current 6 digits code as displayed on your RSA key. Tap on "submit". These should have been given to you by your Local System Administrator (LSA). If you do not have a personal pin-code or an RSA key you may not have access to the remote desktop services. Ask your LSA for more information. Select "Standard Sign-on". Tap on "submit". Page 6/20

Wait for the authentication process to complete. Once the process is done you will have 6 minutes to complete step 3 or 4. If you take longer you will have to perform this step again. 2.2 Case 2: You have an SMS token. Input your personal pin-code for SMS Token and tap on "submit". These should have been given to you by your Local System Administrator (LSA). If you do not have a personal pin-code or an SMS Token system, you may not have access to the remote desktop services. Ask your LSA for more information. Page 7/20

You will receive an SMS with a onetime token code that expires after use or after 5 minutes. Enter the received code and tap on "submit". Select "Standard Sign-on". Tap on "submit". Page 8/20

Wait for the authentication process to complete. Once the process is done you will have 6 minutes to complete step 3 or 4. If you take longer you will have to perform this step again. Page 9/20

3 Setting up your Citrix Account Depending on your place of work some details of your account will change. A Luxembourg account will still work when in Brussels and vice versa. You can also set up two accounts, one for Brussels and one for Luxembourg. This way you will have a backup account if one of the servers goes down. If you are not using a European Parliament WIFI network you have to complete step 2 before setting up your account. Start the Citrix Receiver App. Select "Add account". If your main workplace is Brussels write: https://tswebbru.secure.europarl.europa.eu/ pnagent/config.xml If your main workplace is Luxembourg write: https://tsweblux.secure.europarl.europa.eu/ pnagent/config.xml Page 10/20

On Description write: "Bru" or "Lux" depending on your location. On Username write your EP user name On Password write your EP password On Domain write: "ep.parl.union.eu" Tap on the "Save" button. If this does not work and you are not using an EP WIFI network make sure you completed step 2 under 6 minutes ago. Tap on the "+" button next to EP 7 Desktop. This will add an icon to the Citrix Receiver main screen. Page 11/20

4 Access and Use the Remote Desktop Remember that whenever you want to use Citrix Receiver outside an EP WIFI network you must complete step 2 (Security Authentication). If you are connected to an EP WIFI network you only need to complete this step. Start the Citrix Receiver App Enter your EP password : And Click Connect Tap on the Desktop 7 icon to remotely access your desktop. Page 12/20

Use your ipad as if it were a standard European Parliament configuration PC. With access to the same programs and files as you would in the office from anywhere in the world. Tap on the arrow at the top of the screen to bring up the Citrix Receiver Menu. This is the menu, it allows you to navigate through the different features of Citrix Receiver Remote Desktop. Return to the main screen, exiting Remote Desktop but not logging off (See step 5 for instructions on how to log off). Pair a Bluetooth device (e.g. keyboard). Page 13/20

Brings up virtual arrow keys. Brings up a virtual keyboard. Tap on to discard keyboard. Alternative touch control where you drag the mouse pointer with your finger around the screen Zooms in the area where the pointer is allowing for more precise control and better legibility. Page 14/20

Opens a gesture menu explaining the different multitouch gestures that can be used to navigate on the desktop. Switch to another application run from Citrix Receiver. Currently only Remote Desktop is supported so this feature is useless/ Page 15/20

5 Quitting and Logging Off After using Remote Desktop Services it is important that you quit and log off. Failure to do this is a security risk. This is particularly important if you are using RDS somewhere outside the EP. Note that if the RDS session is inactive for more than one hour it will automatically log off and you will lose any unsaved work. There are two ways to log off RDS using the ipad. The first is to open the start menu (1) and click on the log off button (2). This will end your RDS session and take you to the Citrix Receiver interface. Here tap on the "+" button on the left hand side of the screen. Page 16/20

This will bring up a menu. Tap on the "Log Off" button at the top left corner. You have now fully logged off your RDS sessions and Citrix Receiver Alternatively, on the RDS virtual desktop you can tap on the arrow on the top of the screen. Page 17/20

This brings up the ipad specific menu. Here tap on the Home button. This will take you to the Citrix Receiver interface. But note that you will not have logged off from the RDS session. If you now tap on "EP 7 Desktop" you will return to your RDS session as you left it. If you take more than an hour to return however the RDS session will have automatically logged off. You can now fully log off by tapping on "+". Page 18/20

This will bring up a menu. Tap on the "Log Off" button at the top left corner. Because you have not logged off your RDS session a message will appear. This is a standard Citrix Receiver message. Ignore what it says about unsaved data. Because of security reasons your session will be automatically logged off after one hour on inactivity, this means you will lose all unsaved data. Tap on "Log Off". You have now fully logged off your RDS sessions and Citrix Receiver Page 19/20

6 Troubleshooting 6.1 Keyboard issue You can encounter a mismatch between the letter you tap on the virtual keyboard and the one displayed on the remote session (i.e. you tap on Q and you see an A on your Word document). In this situation, you have to change an option on the Citrix Receiver for Mac application. Start the Citrix Receiver App. Tap on the gear at the top right corner. Tap on Keyboard Options. Tap on Automatic keyboard button so that it changes from green to grey. Tap on Done. You can then start a new EP 7 Desktop session. Page 20/20
