HTTP Upgrade Instructions Please follow the below steps to ensure that the UME-36 Pro is configured properly for a successful upgrade using the HTTP Server method. 1. Connect an active Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port located on the top/back of the UME-36 Pro. As a reference, it is located to the right of the PC port. 2. Initiate the upgrade process by selecting Services->Upgrade->Upgrade Application Now- >HTTP Server. The UME-36 Pro will proceed to download and install all available updates. The HTTP upgrade process encompasses both the Application update and Image updates. Depending on how many updates the unit needs, this process can take anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes to complete. When it is complete the UME-36pro will notify you that the upgrade was successful and will reboot and return to the main menu. **If you encounter issues with this process please refer to the troubleshooting steps below: HTTP Trouble Shooting Steps 1. Go to Services->Upgrade->Upgrade Settings->HTTP Proxy Settings-> In this menu make sure that the Direct Connect Selection is chosen and then press the right arrow on your UME-36 Pro to save this setting. 2. Go to Services->Upgrade->Upgrade Settings->HTTP Settings-> In this menu press the F3 Button to Configure the Server Address and erase the pre-existing address by pressing the (Red C Button). You are now going to type the address: ume-update.com/ume36/usa/stores/ into the space that was just cleared. - Press F3 to continue to the next screen and make sure that the number is set to Port:80_ - Press F3 to continue to the next screen and make sure that there is nothing typed within the Username Field. (If so, Erase anything that is there) - Press F3 to continue to the next screen and make sure that there is nothing typed within the Password Field. (If so, Erase anything that is there) - Press F3 to continue to the next screen and press the right arrow button to save the settings. 3. Go to Services->Network Settings - Press F1 to Configure - Select IP Type Dynamic by pressing the Right arrow Button - Select DNS Type Dynamic by pressing the Right arrow Button - Press the Right arrow Button to Save the settings. 4. The UME-36 Pro will return to the Main Menu. Now power cycle the UME-36 Pro and follow the HTTP upgrade instructions.
Application Upgrade Instructions (Using a USB Disk Drive or SD Card) PC running Windows with a USB port CelleBrite Application update file (*.u36 file sent by email: support@cellebriteusa.com) *One of the following: USB Disk drive formatted for FAT or FAT32 File System: Also called a USB Flash/Thumb Drive/ Memory Stick, or an SD Card formatted for FAT or FAT32 File System: Step 1 Format the USB Disk Drive/SD Card Close all running applications Plug in the USB disk drive/sd Card into a free USB port on your PC Double-Click the My Computer icon on your desktop IMPORTANT Backup any important data on the USB Disk Drive before continuing. The next step will erase all files on the USB Disk Drive/SD Card!!! Right-click on the drive named Removable Disk, choose Format Choose FAT or FAT32 under File System Quick format must be unchecked Click START to begin formatting Step 2 Copy the Application Upgrade file to USB Disk Drive/SD Card 1. Locate the upgrade file that ends in *.u36 that was included in the upgrade email sent from CelleBrite Technical Support. 2. Copy the upgrade file to the appropriate removable drive. 3. Properly remove the USB disk drive/sd card from the computer. Step 3 Upgrading the UME-36 Pro 1. Plug the USB disk drive into the source USB port. If using an SD card, the SD card slot can be found on the source side of the UME-36 Pro. 2. From the Main Menu go to Services, Upgrade, Upgrade Application Now. 3. The UME-36 Pro will display Starting Upgrade and quickly reboot. 4. From the Select upgrade source menu choose USB Disk Drive or SD Card. 5. Now select the latest appropriate update from the list and push > on the UME-36 Pro. It is VERY IMPORTANT not to interrupt the upgrade process by disconnecting cables or power supply.
Application Upgrade Instructions (Using PC with Data Cable) Access to a Windows compatible PC with a CD-ROM drive and a USB port USB to Mini USB cable (Long cable included in kit) CelleBrite UME-36 Pro Utilities CD-ROM (included in kit) CelleBrite Application Patch (*.u36 file sent by email support@cellebriteusa.com) Step 1 Installing the Upgrade Utility Make sure all applications are closed. Insert the CD-ROM labeled CelleBrite UME36 Upgrade Utilities into your CD-ROM drive. Browse the CD by double-clicking My Computer -> CelleBrite (D:) -> Upgrade Utility Double-click the setup.exe icon. Setup will begin to copy files. At the setup welcome screen, click OK to continue. Click the computer icon to install into the desired directory. Click Continue. Setup will copy necessary files. Click OK to finish the installation. Step 2 Physical Connections 1. Locate the Mini-USB PC port on the top of your UFED. 2. Connect the USB cable to the port labeled PC (see picture) Connect the other end of the cable to a free port on your computer. Wait for Windows to automatically install drivers. Step 3 Upgrading the UME-36 Pro Software 1. Make sure all applications are closed. If using Palm Sync or ActiveSync software, or any other software which uses the COM ports. Make sure these programs are not running and/or disabled. 2. Locate the software patch (.u36 extension) that was emailed to you and copy this file to your desktop. 3. Start the update program by clicking Start -> Programs -> CelleBrite Mobile Synchronization -> UME-36 Upgrade Utility 4. When prompted, from the drop down box, select Upgrade UME36 Application and click OK. 5. Click Select Upgrade File button. Locate the.u36 patch file and click OPEN. 6. From the Main Menu on the UME-36 Pro device: Go to Services, Upgrade, Upgrade Application Now. 7. From the Select Upgrade Source menu choose PC. 8. The UME-36 Pro will now establish connection with the PC and will start the download and upgrade process. It is VERY IMPORTANT not to interrupt the upgrade process.
