In the following lab instructions, you are going to configure using Kofax Capture Import Connector -- XML (KCIC XML) to import documents into Kofax Capture. An XML file will provide the information for a batch to be created automatically. You will also have experience using Kofax Front Office Server (KFS) to capture documents and send them directly into Kofax Capture for processing, bypassing the Scan module. Lab 12-1 Lab Kofax Capture Import Connector -- XML NOTE: Make sure that the image file names and locations in your Orders.xml file exactly match your image file names and locations as they exist on your C: drive. (spaces in file names matter.) 1. Open Kofax Capture Administration. From the Batch tab, right mouse click in the open area and select New Batch Class. 2. From the General Tab enter the following information: a. Name: Import Orders b. Priority: 1 c. Description: XML Import Connector Orders Accept the default directory for the images. 3. Open the Queues tab and select the following queues by highlighting and clicking on [Add] or double clicking: a. Scan b. Recognition Server c. Validation d. Export 4. Highlight the Scan queue and click on the [Properties] button. Select Import. Click [OK]. 5. On the Separation and Form Identification tab, select Kofax Page Recognition. 6. On the Advanced tab, select the following: a. Partial Batch Export select Scan from the drop down list b. Sort Options select Validation from the drop down list 7. Click [OK] to close the window. 8. Right mouse-click on the Import Orders batch class and select New Document Class. Enter Import Docs for the Name. 9. Click [New Index Field]. For the Field Name enter Customer Number and select Alphanumeric10 for the Field Type. Default for the field options. 10. Click [New Index Field] and enter Order Total and select Decimal10 for the Field Type. Change the Total column to True and click [OK]. 11. Create a new form type linked to the Import Docs document class. Enter NW Form for the name. On the Image tab, check Register all pages. Click [OK]. 12. Add a sample page to the NW Form form type. (Note: Make sure Software Import appears as your scan source.) Select C:\Sample\Order 1.tif for the page. Expand the tree view for the sample page. Set up Page Level Bar Code properties and link the Customer Number field to the first bar code. Click [OK]. 13. Set up one index zone on the sample page. Using the New Index Zone icon, draw a box inside the area on the page that contains the Total. Associate the zone with the Order Total Field. Select ICR Amount for the profile and click [OK]. 14. Set up a Form ID zone. Locate the text Northwest. 15. From the Insert tab, select the Form zone icon. 16. Draw a box around the four characters of the word Northwest and release the mouse button. 17. Choose Kofax High Performance OCR as the Recognition profile and enter Nort in the Search text box. 18. Click the [Test] button. Nort should appear in the Results pane in the Test window. Close the Test window. 19. Click [OK] to close the Form Identification Zone Properties window. 20. Set up the text export connector for the Import Docs document class. 21. a. Name: XML Text Export b. Storage ([Index Storage] tab): C:\Export\Lab12 c. File name: data.txt d. Image output ([Advanced] tab): C:\Export\Lab12\Documents e. Export images ([Advanced] tab) as: TIFF CCITT, Group 4 22. Click on [OK]. Close the export connector window. 23. Publish your new batch class. Click [Close] and close Administration. 24. Open Windows Explorer. Highlight the C: drive and create a new folder named: ACXMLAID. 25. Browse to the Class Resource flash drive and open the XML Import Connector folder. Highlight the Orders.txt and Orders.xml files, right mouse click and select Copy. Browse to your newly created C:\ACXMLAID folder and paste the files into the folder. Open the C:\ACXMLAID folder and right mouse click on the Orders.xml file and select Properties. Make sure the Read Only property is unchecked. Click [OK]. 26. Double click on the Orders.xml file, which will launch Internet Explorer and open the file. You will view the contents of the file in your browser. When executed, this file will create an import session that will: a. Create a batch called XML1 based on the Import Orders batch class b. Set the expected Batch Total to $377.81 c. Import five images d. Separate the five documents and close the batch. All without ever running the Scan module 27. Close Internet Explorer. 28. We re going to create a shortcut to KCIC-XML. From Windows Desktop Explorer, browse to and locate this file: C:\Program Files(x86)\Kofax\Capture\Bin\ACXMLAI.exe 29. Right mouse-click on this file and select Create shortcut. 30. Highlight the new shortcut and drag it to your desktop. Minimize Windows Desktop Explorer. 31. Locate your new shortcut on your computer desktop, right mouse-click, and select Properties. 32. In the Shortcut tab in the Target window, enter these parameters exactly as printed here at the end of the existing target location: -GUI -PollDir:"C:\ACXMLAID (Note: there needs to be a space before and after -GUI ) Your Target should look like this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\kofax\capture\bin\acxmlai.exe" -GUI -PollDir:"C:\ACXMLAID". 33. Open the General tab. 34. Change the name of your shortcut from ACXMLAI.exe Shortcut to: KCIC-XML 35. Click [OK]. You now have a functioning shortcut to KCIC-XML. 36. From your desktop, double-click on your new shortcut to activate KCIC-XML. 37. The KCIC -- XML window will open and after a few seconds the Orders.xml file will be processed. This will all be done on an automated basis. After the batch XML1 is created and closed, the Polling timer will start and every 60 seconds the ACXMLAID folder will be polled for any new files that have not been processed. 38. From the Tools menu select Polling Interval. Change the interval to 10 Seconds. Click [OK]. 39. Wait for polling to occur at least one additional time. Notice that the file Orders.xml is opened and closed. The file has been marked as Processed and will not be used again. (NOTE: To view Orders.xml, navigate to your C: drive, locate Orders.xml, right mouse click and open the file with Notepad. Inside the file, you will see a line that reads Processed = 1. This is the flag that indicates the file has already been processed). 40. After polling has occurred, close the KCIC -- XML window. 41. Open Batch Manager. The XML1 batch is ready for the Recognition Server. WOW that was easy, and all without using the Scan module! 42. Process your batch through to Export. Check your results by looking in the C:\Export\Lab11 folder. Lab KC10 12.doc Last Revision: 04/01/14 4

Lab 12-2 Lab Installing Kofax Front Office Server In the following lab exercises, you will be installing and using Kofax Front Office Server (KFS) as an alternative means to bring documents into Kofax Capture. 1. Open Kofax Capture Administration module. Click on the Tools tab. Click on Profiles from the Users & Groups subpanel. Re-enable User Profiles by clicking in the checkbox at the top of the User Profiles window. Click [Save] and [Close]. 2. Expand the Import Orders batch class. Open the properties of the Import Docs document class. Toggle the Total column to False on the Order Total field and then click [OK]. 3. Publish the batch class. 4. Close the Administration module. 5. Insert your Class Resource flash drive. Locate and copy the following directory to your desktop: KFS4Software 6. Open Windows Desktop Explorer, and then open the following directory from your desktop: KFS4Software/Prerequisites 7. Double click on this file: Kofax.KFS.Util.StandardDBInstaller.exe This action will launch a utility that preinstalls the necessary database for use with Kofax Front Office Server (KFS). Be patient as this installs the necessary software, and respond to any prompts. 8. At completion of the utility, again from Windows Desktop Explorer, access the following directory from your desktop: KFS4Software 9. Double click on: AutoRun.exe The KFS installation menu will launch. 10. Click on [Install Kofax Front Office Server]. The first installation screen will be displayed. 11. The Welcome screen appears. Click [Next]. 12. Review the KFS license agreement and select I accept the terms of the license agreement to continue with the installation. Click [Next]. 13. You will be prompted to confirm that ports 80 and 443 are available. Click [Next]. Lab KC10 12.doc Last Revision: 04/01/14 5

14. Accept the default destination location. Click [Next]. 15. Select Standard database and click [Next]. 16. Select Local System Account for the default service account. This is the Windows user account used for starting the KFS service. Click [Next]. 17. When prompted, click [Install] to begin the installation. The installation begins. 18. A screen will indicate when the installation is complete. Click [Finish] to close the installer. KFS is now installed on your computer. Remember that when you install KFS on the same system on which Kofax Capture is installed, an Administration Plug-in is added to the Kofax Capture Administration module. Let s take a look. 19. Once again, launch the Kofax Capture Administration module. 20. Next, take a look at the ribbon. You ll see a new tab entitled Kofax Font Office Server. Clicking on this tab displays the contents of this tab which includes the following items: Devices, Device Profiles, Users, Settings, Destinations, Thin Client Permissions, Groups, Shortcuts, Notifications, and Transaction Review. 21. Close the Administration module. Reboot your computer. Lab 12-3 Lab Using KFS and the MFP Emulator to Import Documents into Kofax Capture You will be using the MFP Emulator (part of KFS) to capture documents and send them to Kofax Capture for processing. The MFP Emulator is a Windows-based application that can be used to demonstrate KFS MFP clients without requiring a physical device to be present. 1. Open Windows Desktop Explorer and browse to the following directory: Program Files(x86) \ Kofax \ Front Office Server \ Resources \ Share \ MFPClients \ MFPEmulator Doubleclick on the following file: MFP Emulator.exe 2. Enter the following information for the server: localhost Click [OK] Lab KC10 12.doc Last Revision: 04/01/14 6

3. In the next screen, enter the following credentials: User ID: Admin 2 Password: password 4. Click [Scan]. 5. In the next window that launches, select the NW Form form type from the drop down. You don t need to enter any other data. 6. Click [Scan]. 7. When the next window opens, browse to the following directory: C:\Sample 8. Select the following file: Order1.tif and then click [Open]. 9. The Scan Complete window will open shortly, displaying your document for review. Without making any changes, click [Send and Exit]. 10. Back on the Kofax Main Menu screen, click [Scan History] to view the status of your captured document. After viewing the status of your captured document, click [OK]. 11. Returning once more to the Kofax Main Menu screen, click [Exit] to close the MFP Emulator. 12. Return to the Kofax Capture program group and launch Batch Manager. Log in as Administrator to the Batch Manager. 13. Open the View tab and click on the Refresh icon in the Refresh subpanel. You should see a batch ready for processing through Recognition Server identified with a name derived from the MFP Emulator. Process this batch through Recognition, Validation, and Export. 14. Once more, open Administration and log on using Administrator and password. From the Tools tab, select Profiles select User Profiles and uncheck the Enable User Profiles check box.
