Technical Publicatins The Servers Table, lcated n the left, lists the servers that prvide vice sessin access t MX devices. The Prperties Table, lcated n the right, cnfigures the address used t access the servers and specifies transmissin characteristics f SIP packets that set up the vice sessins. 2.1 Servers Table The Servers table in the SIP Servers and ITSPs tab lists the SIP servers accessed by the MX t establish vice call sessins. Each rw crrespnds t a SIP server. The fllwing parameters identify the characteristics f each SIP server. Name: This parameter identifies the SIP Server t the MX. Other UI windws, such as the Dial Plan: Ruting panel, reference SIP Servers by their names. Active: This parameter specifies the active status between the MX and the SIP server. If this parameter is nt selected, the MX cannt use the specified SIP server t rute a call. Type: This parameter specifies hw incming calls frm the SIP server are handled by the MX. Valid parameter settings include: Internal: The number specified in the SIP INVITE is treated as a dialing pattern that is evaluated by the Ruting panel f the Dial Plan windw. External: The number specified in the SIP INVITE is treated as a DID and ruted t the user that is assigned t that number. Calls with unrecgnized DID numbers are handled as specified by the Outside panel f the Dial Plan. All servers in the ITSP panel are external. This parameter is nt listed in the Servers table f the ITSP panel. Cdec Prfile: Specifies the list f cdecs that the SIP server can use fr negtiating cmmunicatin settings with ther SIP devices. Cdec Prfiles cnfigured in yur system are listed in the Cdec Prfiles windw. SIP Prfile: SIP prfiles define SIP packet characteristics fr packets utilizing the specified SIP server. Click the SIP Prfiles buttn lcated at the bttm f the panel fr a list f SIP Prfiles and their definitins. T add a SIP Server t the table, right-click the muse while pinting at the table and select New. Enter the server parameters in the new rw. 2.2 Prperties Table Technical Publicatins The prperties Table defines cnnectin, registratin, and SIP packet characteristics fr the SIP server highlighted in the Servers Table. The text at the tp f the table, abve the Servers List, identifies the server cnfigured by the Prperties Table. Servers List: This table sectin defines the access address f the selected SIP Server: Request using DNS_SRV: Select this ptin t specify an FQDN that is assciated with the SIP server. The MX uses the DNS server t reslve the IP address and prt f the server. Use the fllwing servers: Select this ptin t specify ne r mre SIP Server addresses (using dtted decimal ntatin r FQDN) and prt number cnfiguratins thrugh which the MX perfrms vice calls. T add server addresses t the table, pint the cursr at the table and right-click the muse. Register: Check this bx t enable the MX t register as a client t the specified SIP Server. User Name: If the Registratin ptin is enabled, this parameter specifies the string that is designated as the user name in the Frm field fr INVITE packets sent frm the MX t the SIP Server. The Frm field derives the Dmain name n the basis f the Dmain in Frm Header parameter. Timeut: If the Registratin ptin is enabled, this parameter specifies the registratin perid fr the MX. Frce Symmetric NAT Transversal: This field regulates hw RFC3581"An Extensin t the Sessin Initiatin Prtcl (SIP) fr Symmetric Respnse Ruting" is used. There are three pssible ptins fr this field: Off: RFC3581 defined behavir is disabled. On: The MX always enfrces RFC3581 when cmmunicating t this ITSP. OPTIONS SIP message is used t maintain NAT binding. Aut: The MX attempts t determine via rprt parameter if it is behind the NAT and if s enfrces NAT binding using OPTIONS SIP message. With the intrductin f SBC in versin 5.0.15 sftware and later, it is recmmended nt t use this cnfiguratin ptin. Technical Publicatins In the example in the screensht belw: Netwrk 192.168.15.0/24 is the private side (LAN) f the MX. This is where all the lcal phnes are cnnected t the MX. Netwrk 0.0.0.0/0 is mapping all ther netwrks t the public side f the MX, thus perfrming the SBC functins t crrect all RTP packets by inserting the public IP listed in the Public IP field, and the External SIP prt with the prt listed in the External SIP Prt field. Sessin Brder Cntrller RTP Prt Range is the prt range that the sessin brder cntrller will use t send and receive vice packets. External RTP Prt Range is the prt range that is frwarded by the edge firewall t the MX, this prt range is independent f the Sessin Brder Cntrller RTP Prt Range (in the example belw, they were made t be the same). 5.1 Netwrks T cnfigure SBC in the 0.0.0.0 rute, enable prt mapping, and assign the Public IP and prts in the fields circled in the screensht abve. If yu are nt using SBC and have the MX in ruting mde with public IPs assigned t interface 2/WAN, d nt check the Prt Mapping bx. 5.2 RTP Mapping Check each netwrk fr the MX t perfrm ALG/SBC mdificatins fr. RTP mapping must be dne if using SBC r if yur MX is directly cnnected t the internet. The 0.0.0.0/0 rute must be checked fr all netwrks as seen belw. Requirements 7.1 General The MX must be running 9.0.4 r better t ensure prper functinality. P-Asserted Identity is nt supprted. Only G711 is supprted by the carrier, a custm cdec prfile must be created. 7.2 MXnetwrk When the deplyment includes a MXnetwrk, yu will need t mdify the cdecs used between ndes. This is accmplished by setting the cdec prfile applied t calls within the same lcatin as well as between lcatins t the previusly created custm cdec prfile. Technical Publicatins The parameters that are set in the Cdecs panel include: Within the same lcatin use: This parameter determines the cdec prfile fr vice calls between SIP devices at the same lcatin. Between lcatins use: This parameter determines the cdec prfile fr vice calls between SIP devices that are at different lcatins. Exceptins: This table determines the cdec prfiles fr vice calls between SIP devices that are in tw specific lcatins. Cdec prfile settings in this table verride the default settings in the upper part f the panel. T add an exceptin t the table, pint the cursr in the table, right click yur muse, and select Add Exceptin. The Lcatin 1 and Lcatin 2 ptins are Lcatin names, as cnfigured n the Lcatins windw. Imprtant: Cdec panel changes d nt take effect until yu press the Apply buttn. If yu press the Cancel buttn befre pressing Apply, all pending changes t the Cdec panel and the Cdec Prfile panel are disregarded.
