Customer Release Notes Color Controller E-22B/E-22C, version 1.1 This document contains important information about this release. Be sure to provide this information to all users before proceeding with the installation. NOTE: This document uses the term E-22B/E-22C to refer to the Color Controller E-22B/ E-22C. This document uses the term copier/printer to refer to the Pro C5100S/C5110S / MP C6502/C8002 / MP C3003/C3503/C4503/C5503/C6003. Restart options Correction to E-22B/E-22C restart options In Configuration and Setup, the restart options for the E-22B/E-22C are described incorrectly. The following descriptions replace the content in step 4 of the procedure To shut down, reboot, or restart the E-22B/E-22C in the Administration chapter: Restart Fiery Service Restarts the E-22B/E-22C system software, but not the Linux operating system software on the E-22B/E-22C. Restart System Completely restarts (reboots) the E-22B/E-22C, both the E-22B/E-22C system software, and the Linux operating system software on the E-22B/E-22C. Color Printing Selecting JMPA for the CMYK Source If the CMYK source profile that you want does not appear as a selection for the CMYK/ Grayscale Source setting, the profile may be available on the User Software DVD. You can import CMYK source profiles from the User Software DVD to the E-22B/E-22C to make them available as CMYK/Grayscale Source settings. For more information about additional profiles, including JMPA profiles, see Installing additional ICC profiles on your computer in Color Printing. Setup Reset to factory defaults When you reset the E-22B/E-22C to factory defaults, the Fiery icon on the copier control panel will appear momentarily then disappear. Wait till the Fiery icon reappears, at which point the rebooting of the E-22B/E-22C is complete. If you mistakenly press the Fiery icon the first time it appears, the main screen of the copier control panel will appear instead of the E-22B/E-22C control panel. Press the Home button, and then press the Fiery icon when it appears. 2013 Electronics For Imaging 16 September 2013 45120908 *45120908*

Changing the time and date If you change the time settings on the E-22B/E-22C in Configure), be sure to restart the E-22B/E-22C after making the change. Note that the time stamps of jobs in the Job Log are not updated by the change. Length of User Name A User Name entered in Users and Groups in Configure should be between 1 and 64 characters, although other applications such as the printer driver may allow more than 64 characters in the User Name text field. Maximum Entries in LDAP search If you enable an LDAP server and set Maximum Entries to 0, it means that the number of entries is unlimited or limited to the maximum specified in the LDAP server. If you set Maximum Entries to a number greater than 0, LDAP searches return two results for each entry (one for the users and the other for the group). User names with LDAP enabled When LDAP is enabled, enter LDAP user names in Configure with the domain name first, followed by the user name. For example, if the user name is Joesmith and the domain is EFI, the user must enter EFI\Joesmith. If the user name is not accepted in this format, for instance, when logging on to Remote Scan, the user must enter the user name without the domain, for example, Joesmith. Printer driver Mac OS X printer driver and number of copies In the Mac OS X printer driver, the Copies field in the Job Info window of Fiery Features is read-only. To change the number of copies, select Copies & Pages from the printer driver main window (instead of Fiery Features). Installing printer driver on Windows 7 On Windows 7 (64-bit), if you download the printer driver using WebTools and extract the files, an error message appears that indicates that the installer cannot be run. If you try to extract the files a second time, the installer runs. Print options Limitations of Booklet Maker The following are limitations of Booklet Maker: Scale and Scale to Fit (on the Layout tab of the Job Properties window) are not applicable when using Booklet Maker settings for a job. Booklet Maker settings cannot be specified for an Adobe PDF file with security settings.

Three-hole punch When you print on A4/Letter paper or smaller and try to do a 3-hole punch on the short edge, punching will not be performed due to the relationship between the punch width and the paper width. In this case, an Invalid Paper Size error might be displayed, but you can continue by changing to a 2-hole punch or by changing the punch side to the long edge. Nested Saddle booklet If you print a Nested Saddle booklet, the booklet is composed of complete saddles (you set the size of the saddle by setting Number of sheets in a subset ). This may cause blank pages to be added to the end of the booklet, depending on the number of pages in the document. Mixed Media When the Mixed Media option is set for a processed job, changing the job properties causes the job to be reprocessed, even if the changes are ones that do not normally require reprocessing, such as changing the number of prints. Duplex printing and Orientation In applications that use a PPD, such as Adobe PageMaker, if print orientation is set to Landscape, and two-sided printing is turned on, the data may not be printed in the selected orientation. To print two-sided, Landscape documents, use the following procedure. TO PRINT DUPLEX LANDSCAPE DOCUMENTS 1 Open the application s Printer Settings dialog box. 2 Set the Orientation Override option to match the orientation of the job that you want to print. 3 Print the document. NOTE: You can also use Command WorkStation to open the job s print properties. On the Layout tab, set Orientation Override to match the job s orientation. Stapling with mixed page orientations Before printing a stapled job that contains both Portrait and Landscape pages, set Bypass Tray Priority on the copier control panel to the input tray that is set for long edge feed. Half Z-fold The following table describes printed results with various combinations of Portrait and Landscape orientations, A3 and A4 paper sizes, and Z-fold settings. Results may vary, depending on your operating system and the application that you use. Some combinations of settings are not supported

NOTE: The table shows PCL printer driver settings. Page combination Left Fold Right Fold Bottom Fold Not supported. A3 A4 When you specify an A3/Z-fold/landscape page followed by an A4/ non-folded/landscape page......your output prints as shown....your output prints as shown. Not supported. A3 A 4 When you specify an A3/Z-fold/landscape page followed by an A4/ non-folded/portrait page......your output prints as shown....your output prints as shown. Not supported. A 4 A3 When you specify an A4/non-folded/ portrait page and an A3/Z-fold landscape page......your output prints as shown. Not supported....your output prints as shown. Not supported. A3 A 4 When you specify an A3/Z-fold/portrait page and A4/non-folded/ portrait page......your output prints as shown

Page combination Left Fold Right Fold Bottom Fold Not supported. Not supported. A4 A3 When you specify an A3/Z-fold/portrait page and A4/non-folded/ landscape page......your output prints as shown Not supported. Not supported. A4 A3 When you specify an A4/non-folded/ landscape page and an A3/Z-fold/Portrait page......your output prints as shown Half Z-fold with stapling If you print from the PCL6 printer driver and select both Half Z-fold and Staple, your document might be printed rotated 180 degrees. In this case, select the Rotate by 180 degrees check box to print the document in the correct orientation. Printing Energy Saver Mode An out-of-paper alert may be displayed for about 1 to 3 seconds when you give a print command to a copier/printer in Energy Saver Mode. The alert will automatically stop, and printing will begin normally. Error alerts If either the Tools, Scan, or Fiery tab is displayed on the E-22B/E-22C control panel and an error occurs when a job has been sent for printing, an error alert is displayed without an accompanying sound alert. Sheet count does not reset When a paper jam occurs during a job where finishing, such as stapling, is enabled, even if you print again from the first page, the sheet count displayed on the copier control panel or in Command WorkStation does not reset.

Windows Separator Page The Windows separator page feature is not supported for the E-22B/E-22C. Note the following limitations: The separator page does not work correctly with N-up, Booklet, and Gang-up jobs. The separator page does not output to the Shift Tray with stapled jobs if the default output tray is set to the Upper tray. When you insert a new page through New Insert in a Mixed Media job, an extra page or sheet may be inserted. When you define a front or back cover through Define Cover in a Mixed Media job, an extra page or sheet may be inserted. The content of the first page of a FreeForm job is printed on the separator page (the first page content and the separator page content overlap). If you print from the PCL printer driver and select a Windows separator page, the separator page is treated as a mixed-page job, and therefore the display of the job title, paper size, and/or media type might be different from the settings specified in the printer driver. Also, the Windows separator page efipcl.sep is a separator page file supplied for use with the PostScript printer driver. If you select efipcl.sep in the PCL printer driver, the name specified in the separator file is displayed as the job title, instead of the file name. Printing custom paper sizes If you specify a custom paper size for printing in Command WorkStation, the custom paper size may slightly differ from the media size shown in the job log. This is an issue only with the view and does not affect actual printing. When you print a custom page size from an application, the page size passed to the E-22B/E- 22C may change slightly from the size specified in the application (for example, a 89.96 mm page is printed as 90 mm). To print to the size specified in the application, change the page size specified in Command WorkStation > Job Properties.

Custom page size is displayed incorrectly If the page size of a PDF job is the smallest custom page size and the job is imported into Command WorkStation, the page size displayed for the job list is different from the actual page size. Custom pages sizes on Mac OS On Mac OS X, if you print from the PostScript printer driver and specify a custom page size, the page size displayed in the completed jobs list in Command WorkStation and the page size in the Media column of the job overview may be different. If you print the job again, make sure that the page size in the job properties is correct before printing. Using long edge feed from the Bypass tray When setting a document to use long edge feed from the Bypass tray, set Bypass Tray Priority to Panel Setting on the copier control panel. NOTE: This does not apply to the MP C3003/C3503/C4503/C5503/C6003. Error message for Bypass tray If the Bypass tray is closed, an error message appears. When this message appears, you can still print a job that uses a tray other than the Bypass tray. To resolve the error, open the Bypass tray. Printing on Mac OS X When you print from the PostScript printer driver on Mac OS X 10.6.x, the Waste warning symbol appears. This is an issue only with the view and does not affect actual printing. Changing the order of jobs In Command WorkStation, if you change the order of jobs in the Print queue by using functions such as Move Up or Move Down, the jobs may not be printed in the order you specified, depending on the number of waiting jobs or the size of the jobs. In this case, cancel all the jobs, and then print them in the order you want. If you change the order of jobs in the Print queue by using functions such as Print Next or Rush Print, the jobs may not be printed in the order you specified, depending on the number of waiting jobs or the size of the jobs. To print a job in the Print queue immediately, cancel the job, select the same job in the Printed jobs list, and select Actions > Rush Print.

Variable data printing methods You can perform variable data printing using either of the following methods: Create a PostScript file by printing with the PostScript printer driver, import the file in Command WorkStation, and then specify the file as either the master or the variable data using Job Properties. Import a PDF file to Command WorkStation, and then specify the file as either the master or the variable data using Job Properties. If you submit the master and the variable data using different methods, an error may occur and the data may not be printed. To print correctly, use the same method to print both the master and the variable data. Variable data printing When you perform variable data printing, you cannot use a scanned job for either the master or the variable data. Use data from a non-scanned job for variable data. Color printing counts Even when printing with only one color, such as magenta, the E-22B/E-22C may perform a full color count. To count by single colors (C, M, Y, K), set the Print by Color Selection option to select the color(s). PDF files with transparent objects When you print a PDF document that includes transparent objects and specify 16 in 1 aggregate printing in the PostScript printer driver, some color loss may occur. As a workaround, disable the transparent setting or select 9 in 1 aggregate printing. Autodetect Interposer tray The E-22B/E-22C may not automatically detect the paper size designated for the Interposer Upper tray. This may occur if the copier/printer is configured for a particular region, for example, EU vs. North America. If the copier/printer does not detect paper size automatically, you must specify the paper size for the Interposer tray in the printer driver paper settings.

Direct connection limitations Jobs or job-related information sent to the Direct connection are not saved to the hard disk. With the Direct connection, jobs or page rasters cannot be saved to disk. Therefore, any operation that requires disk access is not possible. These operations include: Spooling for PDF jobs PDF jobs must be saved to disk, as the interpreter must have random access to the file. Most PDF jobs cannot be processed as a stream of data like PostScript. PDF jobs sent to the Direct connection from Command WorkStation or the printer driver are redirected to the Print queue. Direct connection printing for VDP jobs VDP jobs sent to the Direct connection are redirected to the Print queue. (For more information, see Variable Data Printing.) Reverse order printing for large jobs Reverse order printing requires processing the entire job before printing. Collation for large jobs Collation is not supported for the same reason that reverse order printing is not supported. Note that Collation is turned off automatically for jobs printed to the Direct connection. FreeForm jobs, including the following PPD options: Booklet Maker Combine Separations Page Order Duplex Collate Create Master Use Master Printing N-up job The page count for a N-up job on the copier control panel and Command WorkStation does not operate correctly. Printing jobs when hard disk drive capacity is insufficient When the available space on the E-22B/E-22C hard disk drive is insufficient, the system may not operate normally. From the copier control panel or from Command WorkStation, verify the available hard disk drive space and make sure that enough memory is available.

If the available hard disk drive space is insufficient and the system fails to operate normally, cycle power on the E-22B/E-22C and the copier/printer, and then delete unneeded print jobs that are stored on the hard disk drive. Printing from a USB device Automatic printing from a USB device does not work if the USB device is already connected to the E-22B/E-22C when the E-22B/E-22C starts up. You must connect the USB device to the E-22B/E-22C after the E-22B/E-22C reaches Idle. Paper or finisher mismatch If you print a job for which the specified paper is not available, a message indicates that you must load the requested paper. Printing resumes after you load the paper. If you print a job with a print option that requires a finisher that is not installed on the copier/ printer, a message indicates that you can continue to print the job, but the job will be printed without the print option that requires the missing finisher. Normally, you cannot select a print option for a job if the required finisher is not installed. Printing pauses in middle of job If a job contains a large number of pages, printing may pause for several minutes and then resume. Mismatch Action = Suspend for a large job When Mismatch Action = Suspend is selected, if the paper required for a job is not loaded in the copier/printer and the job is larger than 500 pages, an error message appears in Command WorkStation and on the copier control panel. However, it takes time to display the message and the E-22B/E-22C does not reboot. Document Server Deleting documents Do not delete any documents stored in the Document Server during printing. Impose on Document Server You cannot save an imposed job in Document Server. Document Server does not support Impose.

Command WorkStation Opening a FreeForm job in Impose When you open a FreeForm job in Fiery Impose, the number of pages shown in the Hold queue or Job Summary may differ from the number of actual pages. In this case, select Download as Softfont for True Type Font Setting in the PostScript tab of the printer driver. Also, when you open a FreeForm job in Impose, the preview displayed in Job Summary may differ from the actual print output. In this case, use the following procedure to specify the paper size in applications. TO SPECIFY PAPER SIZE ON WINDOWS XP: 1 Open Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. 2 Select File > Server Properties to open the Print Server Properties window. 3 Select Create a new form check box in the Forms tab. 4 Enter Form name and Units, Paper size, and Printer area margins in Form description (measurements). 5 Click the Save Form button to add the form that you created. 6 Start Microsoft Word, and then open the file to be printed. 7 Select Page Layout > Size, and then specify the paper size added in step 5. Maximum number of duplicable jobs in Command WorkStation The maximum number of duplicable jobs is 1000 in Command WorkStation. If you duplicate jobs greater than the maximum number, an error will appear and the jobs will not be performed successfully. Rotated preview image When a Landscape job is sent to the Hold queue using a PostScript printer driver on Windows and previewed in Command WorkStation or opened from Impose or Compose, the preview image may be rotated 90 degrees. If you are doing imposition processing and you import a PDF directly into Command WorkStation, this issue does not occur and the preview is displayed in the correct orientation after it is processed. Previewing a Portrait job In Command WorkStation, if you display an image preview in Portrait orientation, the background might be displayed in white. In this case, minimizing the view of Command WorkStation and then maximizing it displays the preview correctly. This issue occurs only with the image preview, and does not affect actual printing.

Rush Printing If Rush Printing is selected when a job is processing, the Rush Printing job starts after the processing is finished. Job List screen If more than one job is scheduled, and the jobs include printing and copying jobs, do not use the Job List screen. Properties of queued jobs When displaying the job properties of a queued job in Command WorkStation for which the paper is specified as the custom paper size, the width and height of the paper size might not display correctly. However, the job prints correctly. Files with mixed page sizes For a job created by scanning a document with mixed page sizes and then placed in the Hold queue, if you either hold the job after processing it or print it from Command WorkStation, the default page size is displayed in the Media column of the job overview instead of Mixed. In addition to the incorrect display, when you print the document it is printed using the page size set in the copier/printer. PCL job media information incorrect If you print a job using the PCL printer driver, the paper size and paper type for the job that is shown in Job Summary is incorrect. Large jobs in Fiery Compose If you open a job in Compose that is too large (because of a large number of pages or large amounts of data on pages) and Compose stops responding, you might have to restart the E-22B/E-22C. Divide the job into two or more smaller jobs before using Compose again.

Paper Catalog Display of paper weight values If you create Paper Catalog entries from Command WorkStation and then change the paper weight unit display (for example, from gsm to lbs), the numeric values may change slightly due to rounding errors. Changing paper orientation after Paper Catalog is registered The following occurs if you have changed the orientation after registering Paper Catalog from Command WorkStation: When using a custom paper size: The values for the height and width of the page are switched. When using a standard paper size: The values for the width and height of the page do not change. Two-Way Communication in Windows 7 In the Windows 7 printer driver, to use the Paper Catalog option when Two-Way Communication is enabled, you must have Administrator privileges. Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Print Management and choose Run As Administrator. For more information, see Printing. Image Enhance Visual Editor Working with duplicate jobs In Image Enhance Visual Editor, changes are applied to both the selected job and any duplicates of the selected job. Hot Folders Document name with double-byte characters If you use Hot Folders to store a document in the Document Server and the document name contains double-byte characters (such as Japanese characters), the characters in the document name appear garbled on the copier control panel. Printing a Grayscale booklet from Hot Folders When a booklet is printed from Hot Folders with Color Mode set to Grayscale, the first page prints in color. By default, the Color Mode for the cover is CMYK. As a workaround, set the Color Mode in the Define Cover dialog box to Grayscale, and then the entire booklet is printed in Grayscale. Scanning Scanning at high resolutions If you try to scan an A3-size document in full color or grayscale at 600 dpi, a scan file may not be correctly generated. This problem is caused by a limitation in the amount of memory available for storing scan data on the E-22B/E-22C. Select a lower resolution, and then scan the document.

Multiple scan destinations If you send a scan file by specifying both Internet Fax and Scan to Email as destinations, the paper size may be different from the one you specified. Specify Internet Fax and Scan to Email separately when using them. Specifying a scan file name Do not use 2-byte characters in the scan file name. They will not be displayed properly. Scan to hard disk drive TIFF files scanned with Remote Scan do not display correctly in the Preview application included with Mac OS X 10.4.x, 10.5.x, and 10.6.x. However, they display correctly in Adobe Photoshop. This problem does not occur in Max OS X 10.7 or Windows. Scan to SMB If you scan to SMB from the copier control panel and then perform a second scan to SMB without reselecting the SMB option, the E-22B/E-22C does not check whether the file already exists. If you do not change the scan file name for the second scan, it overwrites the first scan file. System Settings not available while scanning When the copier/printer is scanning, the User Tools button on the copier control panel is unavailable and you cannot access the System Settings display. You must wait until the scan is completed. Default scan file format values The default scan file format values for Remote Scan and the Scan tab in the copier control panel are as follows: When the Program as Default function setting is not specified (Factory defaults) When the Program as Default function setting is specified File format value for Scan tab in copier control panel Set value of Default scan file format in E-22B/E-22C Setup Set value in Program as Default File format value for Remote Scan Set value of Default scan file format in E-22B/E-22C Setup

Scan files overwritten In Remote Scan, if you save scan files to a folder on the client computer, existing scan files in the folder can be overwritten by new scan files without warning. Mailbox user names User names for registering a mailbox must be no more than 36 characters. User names created in other Fiery utilities may be longer. WebTools WebTools Downloads When you download Windows software from WebTools Downloads, the name of the software may not display properly if the language differs from the current language configuration of the E-22B/E-22C. In this case, install the required software from the User Software DVD. Downloading a large file to WebTools Docs When you download a large file (1 GB or more) to WebTools Docs, a MyDocs Service is down message displays. As a workaround, use Fiery Bridge to download large files. Other applications Printing from the PostScript printer driver When you print from the PostScript printer driver, the data may not be printed correctly due to restrictions in the third party application from which you are printing. A4 paper size in Microsoft Excel If you print to A4 paper size from Microsoft Excel (2003 or 2007), the application might automatically resize your job for Letter size. If this occurs, turn off the appropriate resizing option: Excel 2003: Clear the Allow A4/Letter paper resizing option in Tools > Options under the International tab. Excel 2007: Clear the Scale content for A4 or 8.5x11" paper sizes option in Excel Options > Advanced under the General heading. Printing from Microsoft Word 2007 If you print a document from Microsoft Word 2007, an additional blank page might be output.
