Enter the hyperlink in the browser or scan the QR codes below to access the e- book: http://basiclawebook.edb.hkedcity.net/bookweb/ 3. Teachers will have access to the teachers version after Login with their HKEdCity ID. Select and download the booklet(s) required. * Teachers will have access to the teacher s version after Login with their HKEdCity ID. Students will have access to their personal documents after Login with their HKEdCity ID in order to sync their answers, notes, highlights, and bookmarks, etc. via the cloud for their learning activities. Understanding the Law, Access to Justice Basic Law Learning Package (Junior Secondary) User Toolbar Table of contents (TOC): The user can click or touch the TOC item to go directly to the page containing the item. Sketchpad: This allows the user to draw on the drawing board with different lines of different thickness (4) and colours (9). Highlighter: This allows the user to highlight the text on the e- book using pens of different thickness (13), opacity (5) and colours (4). Dictionary: This allows the user to go online to search words and terms using free online dictionaries (Yahoo). Page 5 of 28
Student Word Bank: This allows the user to build his/her own word bank for revision and reference. Bookmark: This allows the user to bookmark a page. To undo the bookmark, the user simply clicks or touches the bookmark icon. This function allows the user to view all the bookmarks s/he has entered. Notes: This allows the user to write notes on sticky notes that can be positioned anywhere on the e- book. Full- text Search: The user can search any word within the e- book using this function. Sync to Cloud: This function allows the user to upload all the notes, bookmarks, highlighted text, answers, drawings, etc. they have made on the e- book to the cloud server. Restore from Cloud: This function allows the user to download all the notes, bookmarks, highlighted text, answers, drawings, etc. they have made on the e- book from the cloud server. The user can therefore share these to more than one computing device via the Internet. Menu Switcher: The user can click to toggle between the 2 main menus. Page 6 of 28

9. Dictionary 1. Click the Dictionary button of the toolbar. 2. Enter the word to be searched in the search box. 3. Click OK. Page 21 of 28
10. Synchronize Page Turning: 1. Open teacher s version e- book. 2. Enter class number. 3. Click the sync button - > to activate the sync page function. 4. Click the page navigation buttons and the student will sync to the same page. Page 22 of 28
11. Student group activity 1. Open the teacher s version e- book. 2. Click the sync button - > and then click to sync to the same page. 3. Click the button. 4. The submission panel will be shown as follows: 5. When the students finish the activity, they can type the student name or group name and press the submit button. 6. At the same time, the teacher can see the student name or group name in the activity panel. 7. The teacher can click on the student s name or group name to show the corresponding answer of the student or group. Page 23 of 28
12. Recording activity 1. To record a verbal response to a question, click the button to start recording. 2. Click Take Video. 3. Click the button. 4. Click the button to play the audio recording. Page 24 of 28
13. Add notes Add Notes 1. Click the Notes button of the toolbar. 2. Type the notes or handwrite the notes by clicking the Handwriting Input button to activate a pop- up box. Notes sizing 1. Click the button to adjust the size of the notes. 2. When a note is shrunk to the point that it cannot be shrunk any further, the note will be shown as 3. The user can drag the notes and drop them to the desired location on the page of the e- book. Delete note Page 25 of 28
1. Click the button and confirm deletion. 14. Input answers Typing input After clicking the button, the text input box will be shown. Handwriting input After clicking the button, the handwriting input box will be shown.
