STEP SETTING UP YOUR DIGTIAL VIDEO RECORDER (DVR) This set-up guide assumes you are connecting cameras (not included with this system) to the Lorex DVR. Consult your DVR s owners manual for alternative DVR connection and/or information to install a hard disk drive (HDD). ACCLVGA - Optional VGA Converter Accessory Allows the L Series DVR to be connected to a PC monitor Converts the signal to VGA NOT INCLUDED - MONITOR, CAMERAS & BROADBAND ROUTER HARD DISK DRIVE (HDD) SHOULD BE INSTALLED PRIOR TO OTHER DVR SETUP. PLEASE REFER TO STEP FOR INFORMATION ON HOW TO INSTALL HDD TO YOUR DVR. L6 VERSION INCLUDES 60GB HARD DISK DRIVE (HDD) IR Sensor Connect one end of ethernet cable (not supplied) to the DVR, the other end to the broadband router (not supplied). Power router and DVR ON if not already ON. Connect the Power Supply to the DVR; the other end 5 to an electrical outlet. STEP SETTING UP YOUR DIGTIAL VIDEO RECORDER (DVR) - HARD DISK DRIVE (HDD) INSTALLATION Carefully follow the steps to ensure correct installation of the DVR HDD. Note: Please set the HDD to MASTER OR SLAVE MODE(S) INDICATES WHERE THE ARE PLACED Open the upper cover of the DVR Loosen the two screens respectively on the two sides of the upper cover. Loosen the four screws on the back side of the upper cover. Unscrew the HDD bracket Screw the HDD onto the HDD bracket SIDE OF THE DVR HDD Screw the HDD bracket back to the DVR base 5 Connect the HDD to the power connector and IDE Bus (make 6 sure to align the HDD precisely for PIN connection). Close the upper case of the DVR and fasten all the screws you loosened in the Section. STEP SETTING UP LOCAL SECURITY MONITORING Insert the software CD (included with your system) into the computer s CD ROM and follow the installation instructions TIP: AS PART OF THE DVR SOFTWARE APPLICATION INSTALLATION, YOU MAY CHOOSE TO INSTALL THE JAVA APPLICATION PROGRAM FOR REMOTE SECURITY MONITORING 5 Once the setup is complete, double click the icon Video Server E from your desktop. Note: The application may be running if you had selected YES, LAUNCH THE PROG FILE on the final installation screen Press the Search button to obtain the DVRs MAC & IP Addresses. Please record these addresses to use in the registration for DDNS Note: Search only works if the DVR is on the local network with your PC. It will not work otherwise. STEP SETTING UP LOCAL SECURITY MONITORING - CONTINUED On the Login Screen, enter your User Name (default admin) and Password (default admin) and the press Connect button You can now view the LIVE VIDEO locally Updated to match the IP of the DVR when selected OK in step. Your DVR is now ready for Local Security Monitoring. For advanced settings, refer to your owner s manual of this product. Refer to Step for Setting Up Remote Security Monitoring. STEP SETTING UP REMOTE SECURITY MONITORING Port forwarding your router and creation of a DDNS account with Lorex is required in order for you to have Remote Internet Access. Open your Web Browser Enter http://ddns.strategicvista.net Click CREATE ACCOUNT option Complete New Account Information http://ddns.strategicvista.net Create Account. FOR PRODUCT LICENSE select the L Series option from the drop down menu. Create the NEW ACCOUNT Link 5 An Automated Registration Confirmation Email will be sent to your email. Print and Save this Registration Confirmation. Service Provider: Domain name: User name: Password: ddns.strategicvista.net house.strategicvista.net John Doe enter password from email. FOR PRODUCT CODE enter the DVR s MAC address (recorded in step, section ).. FOR URL REQUEST enter a unique URL name (eg. Johndoe). Note: An URL name should not be more than 5 characters. STEP SETTING UP REMOTE SECURITY MONITORING - CONTINUED Port forwarding your router and creation of a DDNS account with Lorex is required in order for you to have Remote Internet Access. 6 Select SETTINGS from the VIDEO WEB SERVER application 7 Port Forward your Router Port Forward your Router FIRST before proceeding with the Set-up (you must Port Forward Port 80). All routers are different. To Port Forward your Router: Refer to your Router s manual for specific instructions on port forwarding (or) Enter information from your Automated Registration Confirmation Email Check the Router configuration guide support document in the consumer guide section on our website http:// lorexstore.lorextechnology.com/uploads/portforward_ Guide.pdf In the SYSTEM SETTINGS Screen select DDNS. In order to view the LIVE picture, you need to install JAVA application program (free software included in the application CD for this unit or can be installed by clicking DOWNLOAD JAVA button). Accepting JAVA CERTIFICATE is necessary to view the LIVE Video remotely. 0 View LIVE Video REMOTELY (The Default User Name & Password is admin) NOTE: Enter the IP Address you recorded in Step Section Your DVR is now ready for Remote Security Monitoring.
