SIGN UP FOR EMAIL UPDATES Click Sign up for email updates. The unique User Name/Password and a subscription s components determine the available email choices. Customize and manage subscription updates. Click the checkbox to select the email title(s). The selection automatically moves to the Your Selections column. Click Customize Now if the button displays on your selection, and choose specific topics of interest. Click the Info icon to display description information about the available formats. ACCOUNT PROFILE AND PREFERENCES Activate your Account Profile and customize the Internet Law Resource Center to: Save documents and searches to My Folders. Set a default home page. Set default views for Search Results. Set a larger text size when viewing the Resource Center. Account Profile The account profile manages preferences, and the saving and retrieving of searches and documents. To receive emails focused on Internet law, select Telecommunications & Internet under Areas of Interest. Activate Preferences Click PREFERENCES on the banner to select customization features on the Resource Center. Select your home page, text size, and cases search results display. Click Save in any frame to save all selections. 4

Preferences Journals and Reports Customize News Topics Click Electronic Commerce & Law Report on the tab menu. On the home page of the report or notification, click Customize Topics under the title. On the Customize Topics for Electronic Commerce & Law Report screen, choose from the listed topics, courts, agencies, and countries of interest to display on the home page. Make the selection(s) and click SAVE. To view the subtopics and hierarchy included in each topic, click the Info icon. To delete a selection, click the X. 5

HOME PAGES The main home page contains links to all content included in your subscription, including the Electronic Commerce & Law Report, BNA Insights, and BNA Video Insights. Find topic-specific collections of content and tools on the topic home pages: Domain Names, Privacy & Security, Freedom of Speech, Internet Commerce & Taxation, Intellectual Property, Telecom & Broadband, Jurisdiction & Procedure, and Criminal Liability. Access the focused topic pages either by the tabs at the top of the home page or the photo icons located on the left side of the home page. MENU BAR The menu bar is located above the banner and contains links for Site Map, Preferences, My Folders, Account Profile, Getting Started, About, Contact Us, Help, Sign Out, and Text size. BANNER The banner displays on all pages in the Resource Center. In addition to the menu bar, find the Quick Search text box, Search History, Saved Searches, Advanced Search, Find Cases, networking links, and Search My BNA. Quick Search Search in all collections included in your subscription. When you are working in a collection, the banner displays the added option to search in All or the Selected Collection. Search History/Saved Searches Searches are retained for 90 days. Save them to retain a search past 90 days. To access a saved search, click Saved Searches. Networking Links Follow the Bloomberg BNA E-Commerce & Tech Law blog, Twitter, and/or Facebook. Advanced Search Use the Advanced Search template to design a search within a specific collection. Options for field searching and date limiters are also available on the template. Find Cases Use Find Cases to locate a case(s) with a full or partial citation. Search My BNA To conduct a cross-product search in all of your subscriptions, click Search My BNA. Note: this feature only appears if you subscribe to more than one Bloomberg BNA service. 7

HOME The home page is the main page for your subscription. Set as My Home Page Choose the home page or a topic area home page, and click the Set as My Home Page link. The Resource Center will open to the selected page. Topic Home Pages Either click the tabs or the photo icon on the left column to access each of the Topic Home Pages. BNA Insights Key legal, legislative, regulatory, or business developments, with an emphasis on practical implications and emerging trends written by cyberlaw practitioners. Latest Electronic Commerce & Law Report News The latest Internet law news. Latest Cases The latest Internet law cases. Legal Analysis In-depth analysis of each of the topics covered in the Resource Center, written by distinguished attorneys and law professors who specialize in Internet law. Latest Pleadings, Motions & Briefs Highlights of notable court filings pertinent to Internet law. Law & Policy Federal Legislation, plus key sections of the U.S. Code and the Code of Federal Regulations, international resources, and policy papers. Internet Law News Monitor Access information from thousands of resources on the Bloomberg BNA Internet Law News Monitor. Subscriber Feedback Please let us know your thoughts about this product. 8

TOPIC HOME PAGES Topic home pages consolidate the cases, news, and analysis content pertinent to each topic tab. 9

SEARCH Search the Internet Law Resource Center using the Search frame on the Home page and each Topic Home Page. Search the Resource Center Use the search tool to search all material included in your subscription. Enter the search terms and click GO. Case Searching The Resource Center contains the full text of key federal, state, and international cases, as well as domain name arbitration decisions. Selected cases contain Bloomberg BNA headnotes and classification indexing. Search the cases by citation or keyword. When searching by citation, choose whether to Find this case, or Find cases citing this case. Click the Info icon for formatting examples when searching by citation. More Search Tools Headnote Finder See page 14 Advanced Search Click Advanced Search to launch the Advanced Search template. See page 12 Search My BNA Select Search My BNA to search across all Bloomberg BNA subscriptions assigned to a User Name and Password. Search UDRP Arbitration Decisions On the Domain Names tab, in the Domain Name Dispute Resolution frame, click the Search UDRP Arbitration Decisions button and go directly to the Advanced Search template loaded with the UDRP content file. 10

Search gtld Arbitration Decisions gtld Arbitration Decisions are searchable by Community Objections, Legal Rights Objections, Limited Public Interest Objections, and String Confusion Objections. On the Domain Names tab, in the New gtlds frame, click any of the search links to launch an Advanced Search, (see page 12), template pre-loaded with the selected topical cases and pleadings. To simultaneously search in all gtld Arbitration Decisions, use Advanced Search and select Domain Name Arbitration Decisions. 11

ADVANCED SEARCH Advanced Search provides maximum flexibility when formulating a search. Limit the search to a specific collection(s) using optional search fields, and date restrictions to structure a search. 1. Select the collections to be searched. 2. Enter the search term(s) or search string into the search box. 3. [Enter] or click SEARCH. Search Fields To limit the range of a search and increase the relevance of the search results, add Search Fields to a search string. The searchable fields are specific to the collections being searched, and multiple fields can be searched simultaneously. After the collections are selected, use as many fields as needed to complete the search string. 1. In the Fields frame, choose to Show shared fields only, or Show fields from all selected collections. 2. Select a field from the Choose a field drop-down menu. 3. Enter your search terms in the text box next to Choose a field. 4. [Enter] or click ADD TO SEARCH. The search term(s) are added to the search string in the Search term(s) textbox. 12

CLASSIFICATION OUTLINES Classification Outlines are associated with selected decisions. Classification Outlines organize particular areas of Internet law by points of law and assign each point a classification number. These numbers are assigned to every headnote that Bloomberg BNA writes. By using the outlines and classification numbers, you can zero in on the cases that are most relevant for your research. The majority of arbitration decisions are not included in the Classification Outlines. To access, browse, or search Classification Outlines, use the drop-down menu on the Search frame on any topic home page or the Advanced Search template. In addition, links to browse and search the Classification Outlines are also located on the right side of the Headnote Finder frame. Browse Classification Outlines The link to Browse Classification Outlines opens to the list of available outlines organized by Topic. Click a link to view the full-text headnotes. Links with + signs indicate subtopics or cross references. Search Classification Outlines The link to Search Classification Outlines opens the Advanced Search template. Enter search terms, and add optional field(s) to the search string. Click SEARCH. 13

HEADNOTE FINDER To access the most relevant cases for your research, use the Headnote Finder. Each case has been selected by Bloomberg BNA s staff of experienced legal editors, who write headnotes or digests for each decision. The headnotes summarize the important points of law decided in the case. Each headnote is classified under Bloomberg BNA s exclusive Classification Outlines and grouped together under specific legal principles for easy retrieval by Bloomberg BNA subscribers. The Headnote Finder allows you to view all the headnotes associated with any classification number, and to limit the view of the headnotes by court, date, keyword, or phrase. Sample Search Using the Headnote Finder: Find cases addressing whether the federal cybersquatting law (Anti-cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act or ACPA) applies to new generic top-level domains (gtlds). 1. Open the Advanced Search template. 2. Under CASES AND PLEADINGS select Internet Law Cases. 3. On the Fields drop-down menu, select HEADNOTES. 4. Enter ACPA and gtld in the fields text box. 5. Click ADD TO SEARCH. The fielded search terms move to the Search term(s) text box. 6. Click SEARCH. 14

7. Click the case name on the Search Results page. 8. The case displays with a link to the headnote. 9. Click the linked headnote to view additional cases in the headnote classification 15

SEARCH RESULTS Search Results are initially returned by categories: Cases and Pleadings, Analysis, etc. Click the relevant category to view the search results list for that category. Search results for cases are organized by court and are sequential by date within each court grouping. There is also an option to display the search results by relevance. Simultaneously view the Search Results list and the full text by using the Split Screen option. Split-Screen View View the search results list and full text of the documents in split-screen view. Click Full Screen to toggle back to the full-screen display. Results in toolbar Use the links on the Results in toolbar to toggle among the categories of search results. Case Citations Locate the Bloomberg BNA citation in the heading of the decision. If a non-bloomberg BNA citation is available, both the Bloomberg BNA and non-bloomberg BNA citations are listed. Related To This Proceeding Find additional cases relation to this decision. This Case Cited In Choose a category to view where the current case is cited. 16

Search Results Toolbar The Search Results toolbar resides on top of the split-screen or full screen of the Search Results display. Results in Toggle among the content categories included in the search results. Go to Hit View highlighted search terms as you navigate through a document(s). Add to My Folders Search To save a search string to a folder, click Add to My Folders on the Search Options bar. See page 21 for information about My Folders functionality. Search Within Results Use this link to refine a search and limit the results by adding additional search terms or criteria (available only when using Advanced Search). Print Click the Print icon to launch the print function. Add to My Folders Document Click to add a document to a folder. See page 21 for information about My Folders functionality. Share Email a link to this document. To access the document, the recipient must have a valid User Name and Password. LAW & POLICY Click the title to browse selected Federal Legislation, U.S. Code, Federal Register, Code of Federal Regulations, Policy Papers from U.S. government agencies and private organizations, and from International Resources. Use the Advanced Search template to search any or all of the Law & Policy content. 17

LEGAL ANALYSIS Legal Analysis is written by distinguished attorneys and law professors who specialize in Internet law, and includes Expert Perspectives, Domain Name Practice Guides, BNA Books, Practicing Law Institute treatises, and Tax Management Portfolios. Click any of the titles to browse. To search in any of the content collections, use the Advanced Search template. 18

NEWS Several options exist for keeping up with the latest Internet law news. Click the Electronic Commerce & Law Report tab to access the Electronic Commerce & Law Report. Check the Latest Electronic Commerce & Law Report News frame for major internet law news. See the Latest Cases and Latest Pleadings, Motions & Briefs frame for new cases of note. Find direct links for other Bloomberg BNA Resource Centers and news services to which you subscribe in the Other Resources frame. 19

PRACTICE TOOLS Find the Directory of Registries, Directory of UDRP Providers and Directory of URS Providers in the Practice Tools frame on the Domain Names tab. Click a title to launch the directory. To search in any or all of the directories, use Advanced Search. NEW gtlds STATUS MONITOR Track the launch of new high level domains, click the New gtlds Status Check button in the New gtlds frame on the Domain Names tab. The calendar is compiled and displays 3 columns, Sunrises Starting Soon, Sunrises Ending Soon, and General Availability. 20

MY FOLDERS Use the My Folders feature to retain a search string or document. Log into your ACCOUNT PROFILE in order to use this feature. To save a search string, click Add to My Folders on the Search Options toolbar. To save a document, click Add to My Folders while viewing the file. Add the document or search to an existing folder, or create a new folder. Add additional identifying information as needed, and click Submit. To access the file, click MY FOLDERS on the menu bar. To sort by column, click a column heading (Type, Name etc.) To display the Folder Options drop-down menu, click the Wheel icon the Folders column. on Right-click on the item name to display the Item Options drop-down menu. To create a note, click the Notes icon in the Notes column, enter text and click Submit. A Notes icon without the plus sign signals a note has been added. 21

BLOOMBERG LAW INSIGHTS Authored by experts in Internet law, Bloomberg Law Insights offer analysis of key legal, legislative, regulatory, or business developments, with an emphasis on practical implications and emerging trends. Bloomberg Law Insights are searchable using Advanced Search, and can be filtered by Author or Firm. INTERNET LAW NEWS MONITOR To access information from thousands of resources within the Internet Law News Monitor, click Internet Law News Monitor. The News Monitor dashboard displays the Internet Law News, and Blogs & Commentary. For information about custom Bloomberg BNA News Monitors, call Bloomberg BNA Customer Service at 800.372.1033. 22

PRINT To print a document(s), select the document(s) from a full-screen display, document list, or Search Results page. To print multiple documents from the search results list, click the checkbox next to each document title, and then click the Print icon. A maximum of 25 documents can be printed simultaneously. To print a single document, click the Print icon while viewing the document. Segmented Printing To print segments of treatises included in the Resource Center click the Print icon next to any segment. The selected documents and segments display in the Print Dialog box. Print Dialog Box Select a Text Format Print documents in either printer-friendly or RTF text format. When printing more than one document, select RTF in order to place section breaks between each document, otherwise, the documents print as one concatenated file. Select Segment(s) Click the radio button to choose the segments to print. Any segment(s) displayed below the selected segment is also printed. Print or Display Your Selections: Select or deselect up to 25 documents to batch print using the Select All or Deselect All command links. Click the PRINT/DISPLAY SELECTED DOCUMENT(S) button for each frame to launch the print preview function. Source Information The print preview display opens in a separate window, and adds source and contact information to the top and bottom of the document(s). 23

Participants will also experience the integration of the Resource Center s components: expert analysis, news and developments, primary sources, special reports, and practice tools.
