A Contract will be signed by both parties detailing the specifications for the website and the agreed-upon prices. The Client will provide a general outline of the website and all written information necessary to convey the desired message. Cascadia Graphics & Publishing (the Developer ) reserves the right to edit written material according to The Chicago Manual of Style. Original design of the website becomes the property of the Client, however the Developer retains the rights to any Developersupplied images, artwork and the rights to re-use the general template on which the website was built, unless otherwise agreed upon in the Contract. Client will permit the Developer to use the website as a portfolio piece. 1. DOMAIN NAME REGISTRATION $15 per year Discounts are available for multiple domain names or terms exceeding 1 year. Client will be recorded as the Domain Owner, however Developer will be recorded as Domain Administrator. 2. STANDARD HOSTING SERVICES $77 per year Up to 5 additional domain names may point to the main website (see 3. Domain Parking). The website and associated services are limited to 1 GB. A list of the services provided by the Host Provider is included in Appendix A. The Developer will provide the Client with the initial username and password to access inboxes created in the development of this site. The Client will not have direct access to the host account unless authorized for website editing. 1

The host fee is not pro-rated. 3. DOMAIN PARKING $10 per domain name per year This will permit up to 5 additional domain names to point to the main website. 4. EMAIL ADDRESSES No charge. An unlimited number of email addresses may be established under the main domain name, provided the total site capacity of 1 GB is not exceeded. Instructions for establishing and using email accounts created under the Host Provider will be provided by email or telephone and is included in the base package. 5. CONSULTATION One initial consultation of up to 2 hours in total free of charge. Additional meetings and consultations will be billed at the hourly base rate of $25 per hour. Travel charges (mileage, tolls), if any, are in addition to package rates quoted and will be negotiated separately. See 15. Training for training options for Client editing of the website. 6. BASE RATE, WEBSITE DESIGN & ESTABLISHMENT based on initial consultation. The fee for establishment of the site, including search engine optimization (see also Search Engine Optimization), development of the site template and navigation is a flat fee and ranges from $200, for non-profit organizations and small commercial websites to $1,200 for large commercial. database-driven e-commerce websites. Based on the initial consultation, the Developer will provide a sample of one or more general design templates and quote a base rate, as defined above. 7. PER PAGE RATE $25 per page Each standard page of content is defined as not exceeding 500 words per page or a maximum length of 3000 pixels. The per page rate does not include additional time for graphic or media processing or for extensive editing of Client-supplied text. These are based on hourly rates described below. Web pages exceeding maximum length may be subject to additional pro-rated charges. 2

The following text formats are acceptable: Adobe Acrobat.PDF, Microsoft Word.DOC or.rtf format. Submission can be made as an email attachment or filed on a CD or DVD and mailed (USPS) to the Developer. Text may also be created by the Client in the body of an email message. 8. HOURLY RATES GRAPHIC OR IMAGE PROCESSING $35 per hour (in addition to per page rate) All hourly rates are prorated on a 15 minute basis. The Developer maintains job logs which the Client may request to inspect upon request. All Client-supplied photography is subject to image processing to optimize for Internet viewing. Some image editing may also be required for compatibility with website design or to retouch the image. The need for extensive editing will be discussed with the Client before it is undertaken. Depending on the degree of editing, approximately 12 digital photographs may be processed in one hour. Hourly rates will be pro-rated on this basis. If digital photographs are not available, film negatives or positives may be supplied for scanning. Approximately 10 scans may be processed per hour. Client-supplied artwork (i.e. logos or branding devices) are subject to the same rates for preparation for Internet viewing. Acceptable file formats for submitting artwork are:.jpeg,.tif,.gif,.psd,.bmp,.eps,.ai, or.pdf. Printed logos may be scanned, as described above for scanning photographs. 9. HOURLY RATES ILLUSTRATION $50 per hour The Developer may be requested to design logos or other original artwork. Once the design criteria have been described by the Client, a quote for illustration will be provided by the Developer. 10. HOURLY RATES PHOTOGRAPHY The Developer may sub-contract with a local professional photographer in which case a separate quote will be provided based on the Client s description of the requirements. 11. HOURLY RATES MEDIA The Client may supply digital video (DV) for incorporation into the website. Raw DV requires adaptation for viewing on the Internet. General rates for video processing are $40 per project for DV of 5 3

min. or less in length and requiring no editing, except clipping to reduce length. Since each project is different, the Developer will quote DV separately. The Developer has a variety of templates for Flash animated movies, slide presentations, splash screens and interactive devices or can custom-author Flash animation. Since each project is different, the Developer will quote Flash devices separately. 12. E-COMMERCE If a shopping cart is required for the Client s website, PayPal will be the default software used. The Client is responsible for establishing a PayPal account and to provide access to the Developer that is sufficient to create links to the account and for testing transactions. 13. SECURE CERTIFICATE/ MERCHANT ACCOUNT If the Client selects an e-commerce enabled site which is not re-directed to PayPal, the Commerce area of the site will be hosted on a secure server. Client is encouraged to obtain a Merchant Account to be able to process credit cards and a secure certificate for online transactions. The Client understands that if they do not obtain their own secure certificate, design capabilities on the shopping cart itself may be limited. Using PayPal, as described in Item 12. does not require a secure certificate. 14. DATABASES Extensive catalogues and larger e-commerce sites require the development of a database. Since the requirements of each Client are highly variable, a database-enabled website will be quoted separately, if necessary. The Developer will advise the Client if use of a database is advisable. 15. TRAINING $25 per hour + expenses On-site training is available for maintaining and editing your website. Developer recommends using Adobe Contribute for accessing the files on the remote server and editing and/or adding images and/or pages to your site based on the site template. Typical training sessions last between 1 and 3 hours and include instructions for basic Contribute operations for FTP access and file management on the remote server and to update and edit the website. If requested, the training will include instruction for image file preparation for viewing on the Internet. Expenses include travel. 4

16. AMENDMENTS Client-requested amendments to the site are billed at the normal rates given above. There is no charge to correct errors made by the Developer. 17. SITE MAINTENANCE Developer offers two kinds of maintenance agreements. In one, the Client pays a fixed monthly rate for such things as changing price to an item, adding additional inventory, making moderate graphic changes, and coordinating delivery of the web site with the Host Provider. In the other agreement, the Client pays on an as needed hourly basis at a rate of $25 per hour for non-graphical editing or updating and a rate of $35 per hour for graphic or photographic editing or updating. 18. ADDITIONAL SERVICES Some of the more commonly requested additions: Site search $50 Site search enables a user to perform a keyword search within your site. Results are free of external branding or advertising. Results of form entries available via email $80 This involves both development of a form on your website and having the coded results sent via email. Site map $35 A hyperlinked outline of the pages within your site. Advanced search engine optimization quoted separately The Developer also offers advanced search engine optimization and site promotion services. Advanced search engine optimization include the addition of an XML site map and review and analysis of keywords. An example of promotion services is Google AdSense. The Developer will discuss options when your website is completed. ecards quoted separately Spam-proof ecards are a popular addition when there is an appealing or unique visual component to the website. They can serve as a marketing tool or just encourage users to repeatedly visit your site. enewsletters quoted separately Pricing for enewletters depends on the size of the mailing list and the design of the newsletter. As an option, the Developer will establish the templates for the newsletter to enable the Client to create the content and initiate the mailing. Site statistics no charge Periodic reports of site traffic are available via email upon request. 5

19. PAYMENT TERMS/ WORK FLOW A minimum deposit of one third (33%) of the site development feet is required to commence work. Once the first installment is received by the Developer, basic site design concepts will be put online for the Client s viewing and approval. Communication between the Developer and the Client is crucial during this phase to ensure that the ultimate publication will match the Client s taste and needs. Upon completion of this stage, the Client will be asked to confirm acceptance for the basic site design via e-mail or by signing a printed copy of the design. Once this acceptance is received from the Client, the work necessary to complete the project will begin, and the second third of the total amount will be paid. Upon completion of the web site, an e-mail or letter and invoice will be sent to the Client advising the Client that the work has been completed. Final payment of the remaining 33% balance plus additional hourly charges and any additional costs incurred will due within fifteen (15) business days after delivery of this e-mail or letter and invoice. If the fifteen (15) day minimum is not met an additional charge of 10% is due. If payment is not made within thirty (30) days of notification, simple interest will accrue on the balance owed at a rate of 18% from the date the 10% penalty was levied. Developer reserves the right to remove all web content from the Internet if payment is not made within thirty (30) days after delivery of our completion notification. Cancellation of the project at the request of the Client must be made in writing. In the event that work is postponed or canceled at the request of the Client by written notice, the Developer shall have the right retain the original deposit. In the event this amount is not sufficient to cover the Developer for time and expense already invested in the project additional payment will be due. If additional payment is due, this will be billed to the Client within 10 days of notification via registered letter to stop work. 20. COPYRIGHTS AND TRADEMARKS Any elements of text, graphics, photos, designs, trademarks, or other artwork furnished to the Developer for inclusion in the Client s web site must be owned by the Client or the Client has permission from the rightful owner to use each of these elements. 6
