Express5800/120Lg System Release Notes The Express5800/120Lg System Release Notes provide up-to-date information on your system. Introduction These System Release Notes cover the following topics: General Comments Advisories Documentation Errata. General Comments Advisories The following general comments apply to this server. Versions of the Network Operating Systems tested and recommended are: WindowsP P 2000 with Service Pack 3 Windows ServerP P 2003 Standard Edition Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 is not supported. EXPRESSBUILDER The following advisories apply to EXPRESSBUILDER. EXPRESSBUILDER Express Setup may configure the Windows TCP/IP Protocol IP settings to "Obtain an IP address automatically" (DHCP), regardless of the IP address setting specified in Express Setup. In this case, if static TCP/IP addressing is required, TCP/IP must be reconfigured. Refer to Windows documentation for instructions. Windows Server 2003 and Windows 2000 must be installed using EXPRESSBUILDER Express Setup to take full advantage of NEC specific software for your server (applies only to non factory preloaded systems). If you already have an operating system installed when creating a maintenance partition, EXPRESSBUILDER will warn you of the existing partition. If you want to preserve the installed operating system, do not create the maintenance partition or the existing operating system will be overlaid by the maintenance partition. The Administrator Menu in the System Information Management segment of the Offline Maintenance Utility is accessible only by NEC authorized service representatives. EXPRESSBUILDER operates in floppy emulation mode. The emulated floppy drive portion of your system CD-ROM is designated Drive A and the remaining portion(s) of the CD-ROM is designated Drive Q. Your system diskette drive is Drive B. After creating the Off-line Maintenance Utility diskette, EXPRESSBUILDER prompts you to remove the diskette from Drive B. At this prompt, remove the diskette from your diskette drive. The N8103-74F Disk Mirroring Controller and the FastCheck array management software are not currently supported on the Express5800/120Lg. SCO Operating System Compatibility The Express5800/120Lg is SCO certified for SCO OpenServer version 5.0.7. Installation of SCO OpenServer 5.0.7 requires the following boot time loadable drivers (btld) which are not included in the SCO OpenServer 5.0.7 media distribution: 1. Express5800/120Lg onboard Adaptec Ultra SCSI 320 controller. This driver can be downloaded from: HTUftp://ftp.sco.com/pub/openserver5/drivers/OSR507/btld/ad320/UTH. The btld package name for this driver is "ad320". 2. LSI MegaRAID 518 (1 channel) or 520 (2 channel) RAID Controllers. Version 2.18 of this driver can be downloaded from: HTUhttp://support.megaraid.com/support/dlverify.cfm?DLFile=support/dlcenter/sco_ope nsvr_218.zip&inpdrvid=345uth. The Express5800/120Lg is certified for SCO UnixWare 7.1.3. Installation of SCO UnixWare 7.1.3 requires the following Host Bus Adapter (HBA) Driver Supplements which are not included in the SCO UnixWare 7.1.3 media distribution: 1. Express5800/120Lg onboard Adaptec Ultra SCSI 320 controller. This driver can be downloaded from: HTUftp://ftp.sco.com/pub/unixware7/drivers/storage/UTH. Download the file hba_adpu320_713a.image. Download the file README.hba.adpu320.713a for information on the use of the downloaded image. 2. LSI MegaRAID 518 (1 channel) or 520 (2 channel) RAID Controllers. Documentation Errata Lithium Battery Warning There is danger of an explosion if the battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace the battery only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the equipment manufacturer. Discard used batteries according to the manufacturer s instructions. Installation Site The installation site must be clean, dust-free, and well ventilated. All ventilating openings must be kept free of obstructions.
