Overview Overview Welcome to winsight Dashboard 6.5. This installation guide will help you successfully install winsight Dashboard 6.5 on your system and make it work efficiently according to your organization s business structure. These installation instructions include both the winsight Dashboard 6.5 parts and the required web service components. Logical Tiers The following diagram shows the logical tier model of a winsight Dashboard 6.5 installation. Installation Guide 1

Pre-Installation Information Pre-Installation Information The winsight Dashboard now has installation wizard to improve your experience in installing winsight Dashboard on your system, and make it work efficiently according to your organization s business structure. In previous versions of winsight Dashboard, the installation entailed too many requirements to set up and run the application properly. In 6.5, this wizard guides you through the installation process and provides appropriate setup options, such as selecting file locations. In fact, several steps are now done automatically, making the install much easier. This Dashboard enhancement also helps winsight development resources in troubleshooting your installation issues quickly. When you complete the installation, the winsight Web Services and winsight Web Parts components are installed on your system. Also, the winsight Dashboard Web Parts are published to SharePoint. For Web Parts MOSS 2007 or WSS 3.0 When installing Web Parts in MOSS 2007 or WSS 3.0, the installer performs the following: Verifies that WSS 3.0 or MOSS 2007 are installed Installs chart application to SharePoint Copies chart folder to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\template\layouts Creates chart application in IIS Configures chart application execute permissions to read and execute Configures chart application 'application pool' in IIS - automatically uses same application pool the SharePoint website uses Removes prior WebParts CAB file from SharePoint Adds new WebParts CAB file to SharePoint Modifies SharePoint web.config file SharePoint 2010 When installing Web Parts in SharePoint 2010, the installer performs the following: Verifies that SharePoint Foundation 2010 or SharePoint Server 2010 is installed Removes prior WebParts WSP file from SharePoint Creates new WebParts WSP file in SharePoint Modifies SharePoint web.config file Makes a backup of the SharePoint web.config to <installdir>\support\backup\wss.web.config Enables the System.Web.SessionState.SessionStateModule tag Changes the enablesessionstate from false to true Installation Guide 3

Pre-Installation Information For Web Services When installing Web Services, the installer performs the following: Verifies that IIS is installed Adds required Microsoft redistributables to System32 folder Installs winsight Web Services folders and files Installs WSWebSvc to IIS Creates WSWebSvc application in IIS - automatically adds to the same site as WSWeb Configures WSWebSvc application execute permissions to read and execute Configures WSWebSvc application 'application pool' in IIS - automatically uses the same application pool the WSWeb application uses Configures WSWebSvc application dll mapping to WSWebSvc.dll Configures WSWebSvc application default document - adds index.htm Configures WSWebSvc application security - enables Anonymous Authentication Adds winsight Web Service web server extension to IIS Modifies the WSWebSvc app.config file Configures pdir, vdir and checkids tags Sets Windows permissions to <installdir> Installation Guide 4

Customer Care Connect Site The Deltek Customer Care Connect site is a support Web portal for Deltek customers who purchase an Ongoing Support Plan (OSP). The following are some of the many options you have at the Customer Care Connect site: Download the latest versions of your Deltek products Search Deltek s knowledge base Ask questions, exchange ideas, and share knowledge with other Deltek customers through the Deltek Connect Customer Forums Display or download product information, such as release notes, user guides, technical information, and white papers Submit a support case and check on its progress Transfer requested files to a Customer Care analyst Use Quick Chat to submit a question to a Customer Care analyst online Subscribe to Deltek communications about your Deltek products and services Receive alerts of new Deltek releases and hot fixes If you need assistance using the Customer Care Connect site, the online help available on the site provides answers for most questions Installation Guide 5

If You Need Assistance Access Customer Care Connect To access the Customer Care Connect site, complete the following steps: 1. Go to https://deltek.custhelp.com. 2. Enter your Customer Care Connect Username and Password. 3. Click Log In. If you do not have a username and password for the Customer Care Connect site, contact your firm s winsight Administrator. If you forget your username or password, you can click the Account Assistance button on the login screen for help. Installation Guide 6

Downloading Deltek Products using Deltek Software Manager Downloading Deltek Products using Deltek Software Manager You can use Deltek Software Manager (DSM) to download complete Deltek products, hot fixes, and sub-releases. You can access DSM directly or through the Deltek Customer Care site. When you access DSM directly, you will be prompted to log on before you can access the application. If you access DSM from within the Deltek Customer Care site, you do not have to log on since you are already logged into the Customer Care site. Accessing DSM Directly To access Deltek Software Manager directly, complete the following steps: 1. Launch Deltek Software Manager by taking one of the following actions: Click here. On your desktop, click Start» Programs» Deltek» winsight» Deltek Software Manager. 2. In the Deltek Software Manager logon dialog box, enter your Deltek Customer Care User ID and Password, and click Logon. 3. To select the folder where you want to download Deltek products, click Settings above the right pane of Deltek Software Manager. When you log on for the first time, Deltek Software Manager asks you to select a default folder where Deltek products are to be downloaded. 4. Use the Settings dialog box to specify the folder where you want to download Deltek products, and click OK. You can change this folder anytime in the Settings dialog box. 5. In the left pane of Deltek Software Manager, expand the Deltek product that you want to download, if it is not already expanded. If you clicked the link in step 1 to access DSM, the application automatically selects winsight for you. 6. Select the product type that you want to download. Your options are Complete, HotFix, and Sub-Release. 7. In the table, select the check box that corresponds to the Deltek product that you want to download. The right pane displays a message stating that the product has been added to the download queue. To view the items in the download queue, click View Download Queue at the bottom of the left pane. Downloading Deltek Products using Deltek Software Manager 8. Click Download at the bottom of the left pane. Deltek Software Manager downloads the product to the folder that you selected. Accessing DSM from within Deltek Customer Care To access Deltek Software Manager from within Deltek Customer Care, complete the following steps: 1. In your Web browser, go to https://deltek.custhelp.com. 2. Enter your Customer Care Connect Username and Password, and click Log In. 3. When the Customer Care site displays, click the Product Downloads tab. You are automatically logged in Deltek Software Manager. 4. To select the folder where you want to download Deltek products, click Setttings above the right pane of Deltek Software Manager. When you log on for the first time, Deltek Software Manager asks you to select a default folder where Deltek products are to be downloaded. 5. Use the Settings dialog box to specify the folder where you want to download Deltek products, and click OK. You can change this folder anytime in the Settings dialog box. 6. In the left pane of Deltek Software Manager, expand the Deltek product that you want to download, if it is not already expanded. 7. Select the product type that you want to download. Installing winsight Web Services and Web Parts (SharePoint Tier) Installing winsight Web Services and Web Parts (SharePoint Tier) Use this procedure to install winsight Web Services and winsight Web Parts for the SharePoint tier of your system. Installation Prerequisites Before installing winsight Web Services and Web Parts, make sure that: Active Server Pages (ASPs) are installed and enabled A supported version of SharePoint is installed and configured based on the Operating System you are installing to winsight Web 6.5 is installed and configured The virtual directories for winsight Web 6.5 must be named WSWeb and WSWeb2. winsight Administrator 6.5 is installed to manage available data sources There is at least 22 MB of free hard disk space for winsight Dashboard 6.5 If you are installing the program in SharePoint 2010, you need to perform additional steps to complete the installation. For more information, see the Installing in SharePoint 2010 sub-section. To install winsight Web Services and Web Parts, complete the following steps: 1. Go to the location where you saved the installer. 2. Double-click DeltekwInsightDashboard65.exe to launch the winsight Dashboard 6.5 Installation Wizard. The Welcome page displays. Click Next. Installing winsight Web Services and Web Parts (SharePoint Tier) 3. On the License Agreement page, accept the terms of the license agreement. Then click Next. Installation Guide 10

Installing winsight Web Services and Web Parts (SharePoint Tier) 4. Select the path where you want to install the winsight Dashboard 6.5 components. Click Browse to choose the destination folder. Click Next after you have specified the path where winsight Dashboard 6.5 will be installed. 5. Select the Install winsight Web Services and winsight Web Parts option. Click Next. Installing winsight Web Services and Web Parts (SharePoint Tier) 6. On the Ready to Install the Program page, click Install. 7. Select the web site where you want to install winsight Dashboard and then click Next. You must have winsight Web installed and configured before you can install winsight Dashboard. For more information, see the winsight Web 6.5 Installation Guide. If you are installing the program in SharePoint 2010, another dialog box displays after this page and additional steps are required to complete the installation. For more information, see the Installing in SharePoint 2010 sub-section. Installation Guide 12

Installing winsight Web Services and Web Parts (SharePoint Tier) 8. After the installation is completed, click Finish. Installing in SharePoint 2010 Installing SharePoint 2010 Web Parts is similar to installing winsight Web Parts for the SharePoint tier, which is discussed in the previous section. In SharePoint 2010, however, you need to perform additional steps to complete the installation. 1. After you perform steps 1-9 of the previous procedure, the following dialog box displays: Take one of the following actions, depending on whether you want to run the batch file immediately: If you want to run the batch file now, click Yes. The SharePoint 2010 folder opens (proceed to step 2). If you choose not to run the batch file immediately, click No. The following message displays: Installation Guide 13

Installing winsight Web Services and Web Parts (SharePoint Tier) When you click OK, the installation finishes (proceed to step 4). You still need, however, to run the batch file after by performing steps 2-4 to fully install SharePoint 2010 Web Parts. The location of the file is C:\Program Files (x86)\deltek\winsight 6.5\WebParts\SharePoint 2010. 2. In the SharePoint 2010 folder, right-click Create2010WebParts and then select Run as administrator. 3. If the following dialog box displays, click Yes. The Create2010WebParts batch file runs. The Windows PowerShell console closes automatically once the batch is done running the commands. Installation Guide 14

Specifying the Data Source The installation process has configured all items necessary for the winsight Dashboard components to function, with the exception of the winsight data source. To specify the data source, complete the following steps: 1. Identify the data source to be used by using either the winsight Administrator or reviewing the WSData.ini file in the C:\Program Files\Deltek\wInsight 6.5\bin directory. Installation Guide 15

Installing winsight Web Services and Web Parts (SharePoint Tier) 2. Using Notepad, edit the app.config file located in the <Application Root>\WSWebSvc directory. For example, C:\Program Files\Deltek\wInsight 6.5\WSWebSvc. 3. The app.config file contains the following: <configuration> <dbsrc>we:sample</dbsrc> <dbuser>winst</dbuser> <dbpwd>winstpwd</dbpwd> 4. Change the value for <dbsrc> to the name of your data source. For example, if your data source name is SQL, then the app.config file should contain <dbsrc>we:sql</dbsrc>. If you selected the Blank password option when you were creating the data source in winsight Administrator, you can remove the values for the <dbuser> and <dbpwd> tags. Otherwise, enter the correct username and password for your data source. Installation Guide 16

Installing winsight Web Services (winsight Web/Web Service Tier) Installing winsight Web Services (winsight Web/Web Service Tier) Use this procedure to install winsight Web Services for the winsight Web/Web Service tier of your system. Installation Prerequisites Before installing winsight Web Services and Web Parts, make sure that a supported version of SharePoint is installed and configured based on the Operating System you are installing to. To install winsight Web Parts, complete the following steps: 1. Go to the location where you saved the installer. 2. Double-click DeltekwInsightDashboard65.exe to launch the winsight Dashboard 6.5 Installation Wizard. The Welcome page displays. Click Next. Installation Guide 21

Select the path where you want to install the winsight Dashboard 6.5 components. Click Browse to choose the destination folder. Installing winsight Web Parts (SharePoint Tier) Specifying the Data Source The installation process has configured all items necessary for the winsight Dashboard components to function, with the exception of the winsight data source. To specify the data source: 1. Identify the data source to be used by using either the winsight Administrator or reviewing the WSData.ini file in the C:\Program Files\Deltek\wInsight 6.5\bin directory. 2. Using Notepad, edit the app.config file located in the <Application Root>\WSWebSvc directory. For example, C:\Program Files\Deltek\wInsight 6.5\WSWebSvc. 3. The app.config file contains the following: <configuration> <dbsrc>we:sample</dbsrc> <dbuser>winst</dbuser> <dbpwd>winstpwd</dbpwd> 4. Change the value for <dbsrc> to the name of your data source. For example, if your data source name is SQL, then the app.config file should contain <dbsrc>we:sql</dbsrc>. If you selected the Blank password option when you were creating the data source in winsight Administrator, you can remove the values for the <dbuser> and <dbpwd> tags. Otherwise, enter the correct username and password for your data source. Installation Guide 25

Launching winsight Dashboard in Personalized Mode Launching winsight Dashboard in Personalized Mode Deltek recommends that you launch winsight Dashboard in personalized mode, because in shared mode changes made to selections by one user affect all other winsight Dashboard users. To configure winsight Dashboard for Personalized Mode, complete the following steps: 1. From the SharePoint server, launch SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration by clicking Start» Administrative Tools. 2. Select the Application Management tab. 3. In the Application Security section, click the User permissions for Web application option. 4. In the Personal Permissions section, mark the Update Personal Web Parts Update Web Parts to display personalized information check box. 5. Click Save. Installation Guide 26

Modifying, Repairing, and Uninstalling winsight Dashboard Modifying, Repairing, and Uninstalling winsight Dashboard winsight Dashboard provides facilities for changing which features are installed, repairing installation errors, and removing winsight Dashboard. Depending on your winsight Dashboard configuration, the InstallShield Wizard pages that display may vary when you modify, repair, or uninstall winsight Dashboard. If you using SharePoint 2010, follow the procedures discussed in the Uninstalling winsight Dashboard 6.5 from SharePoint 2010 section. To modify, repair, or remove your winsight Dashboard installation, complete the following steps: 1. Launch DeltekwInsightDashboard6.5.exe. The Welcome page displays. 2. On the Welcome page, click the Next button. The Program Maintenance page displays. The following options are available on the Program Maintenance page: Modify Allows you to change your winsight Dashboard installation structure. The Modify option in the InstallShield Wizard displays the Select Features page where you can select the features that you want to install or uninstall. To change the directory where winsight Dashboard is installed, you must first uninstall winsight Dashboard, then re-install in a different directory. Repair Allows you to repair installation errors by re-installing the winsight Dashboard components. Remove Allows you to uninstall winsight Dashboard from your machine. When asked if you want to remove winsight Dashboard and all its features, select Yes. Installation Guide 27

Uninstalling winsight Dashboard 6.5 from SharePoint 2010 Uninstalling winsight Dashboard 6.5 from SharePoint 2010 winsight Dashboard provides facilities for removing winsight Dashboard from SharePoint 2010. To remove your winsight Dashboard installation, complete the following steps: 1. Go to Control Panel» Programs and Features to uninstall winsight Dashboard 6.5. 2. Click Yes. The following dialog box displays: 3. Take one of the following actions, depending on whether you want to run the batch file immediately: If you want to run the batch file now, click Yes. The SharePoint 2010 folder opens (proceed to step 4). Installation Guide 28

Uninstalling winsight Dashboard 6.5 from SharePoint 2010 If you choose not to run the batch file immediately, click No. The following message displays: Clicking OK finishes the process (proceed to step 5). You still need, however, to run the batch file after by performing steps 4-5 to fully uninstall SharePoint 2010 Web Parts. The location of the file is C:\Program Files (x86)\deltek\winsight 6.5\WebParts\SharePoint 2010. 4. In the SharePoint 2010 folder, right-click Remove2010WebParts and then select Run as administrator. The Remove2010WebParts batch file runs. The Windows PowerShell console closes automatically once the batch is done running the commands. Installation Guide 29
