ELAN Home Systems Life Just Got Better Integration Note g!mobile ios App Version 5.3 BETA Manufacturer: Apple Model Number(s): iphone, ipod Touch, ipad Comments: g! Core Module Version 5.0 or later Apple ios software 4.2 or later Document Revision Date: 11/17/2011 OVERVIEW g! Mobile control is a native viewer interface application for the Apple ios devices that is downloadable via the Apple App Store. This App provides touch sensitive view and control of the g! System both locally and remotely via WiFi or cellular networks. g!mobile uses a standard Viewer license when connecting to a local system. The g!mobile app attempts to mimic the overall Elan Touch Screen interface as much as possible, but bear in mind that as g!mobile is an application developed for a third party device with specific format and support limitations, some compromises must be made. Not all normal touch screen features are supported and there may be some variations in the Viewer Interface. IMPORTANT: THE g!mobile VERSION 5.3 APP IS CURRENTLY IN BETA AND IS NOT YET FULLY FEATURED. SOME BUGS OR MISSING FEATURES MAY BE OBSERVED DURING USE. THE FOLLOWING FEATURES ARE SUPPORTED Local g!system Control: The ios Device can connect locally to a home via a WIFI connection to a network shared by the g! Controller. Remote g!system Control: ios devices may connect remotely to a g!controller via cellular networks or WIFI connection with Internet access as applicable. Note that Remote connections via the iphone s cellular networks will experience a slower connection, particularly when viewing video streams, due to connection limitations. Port Forwarding to the g!controller is strongly recommended. Last Location Memory: g! Mobile will attempt to recall the last page viewed in the app if the ios device goes to sleep while connected to a system. Note the login screen may appear if the connection was interrupted while the device was asleep. Rotation: All ios devices include full rotation support for all tabs, including the login screen. Generally g!mobile will automatically adapt the interface to fit the current orientation with one exception: Video Custom tabs must be created for both orientations, for iphone s only (see Custom Controls for details). Note that the Login Screen will launch rotated to match current orientation, but will stay in that orientation until a system connection is made. Pinch to Zoom (History): History sections on tabs such as Security, Climate and Pool tabs will zoom in and out when using the Pinch gesture on the ios Device surface. System Mode Control: System modes may be changed by selecting the Home button at the top of the main menu of the iphone/ipod Touch. System Mode buttons may be made available on the Home Page of the ipad. Home Pages: Home Pages are available on the ipad app and will use the standard 800x600 interface. Note not all controls are supported at this time. See Custom Controls for details. Weather/Calendar-Limited Support (ipad): The ipad app supports display of the Weather Forecast and noninteractive Calendar control. ELAN Home Systems Lexington, KY USA Technical Support: 800-622-3526

Security Viewer Tab: Change arm modes, view status of security partitions and zones, and view security panel history for Security Panels integrated with the g! System. Climate Viewer Tab: View current temperatures and history, or change modes, fan states and set points for thermostats integrated with the g! System. Lighting Viewer Tab: Control keypads, switches and dimmers for lighting systems integrated with the g! System. See the Custom Controls section for a listing of supported controls on Custom Tabs. Media Viewer Tab: Control Zones, Sources and Volume for A/V equipment integrated with the g! System, including view and control of the media library and display of Now Playing album art with compatible MP3 Players, Music Servers and ipod docks. Multiple pages are supported on media interfaces. Mute Control, All Zones Off function, and Settings Pages are available. Note Settings Page on iphone/ipod Touch is only available in Landscape rotation due to screen size limitations. Compatible media sources include but are not limited to: HC Internal Player (including Internet Radio), Elan ViaMigo, Sonance iport, Logitech Squeezebox (including Internet Radio), most tuners and custom interfaces. Video Viewer Tab: View cameras integrated with the g! System, and touch to center (pan/tilt) compatible cameras. Preset, Zoom and Resolution changes are supported through buttons in the interface. Pool & Spa Viewer Tab: View status and history on compatible Pool & Spa systems, and control set points, pumps, heaters, lights and other circuits through g! Mobile in real time. Note some special functions like Delays, Chlorinator, and other settings are not available. Photos Tab (BETA): Preliminary support for the Photos tab is available but untested. THE FOLLOWING FEATURES ARE NOT SUPPORTED DVR Viewer Tab: Support for viewing of the g!system s DVR is not currently available. Messaging Viewer Tab: Support for viewing the messaging tab is not available. Irrigation Viewer Tab: Support for view and control of irrigation systems is not available. Custom Controls: Currently not all custom controls are compatible with g! Mobile. Please see Custom Controls below for full details. Custom Tabs: Not all tabs currently support the use of Custom Tabs. Custom Tabs from the Climate, and Messaging tabs will not appear. Security Zone Bypass: While g!mobile will display the state of all zones including bypass information, zones may not be bypassed from g! Mobile. Schedule Creation/Modification: Creating or modifying schedules in tabs such as Climate, Pool or Lighting is not supported in g! Mobile. Docked Control: Elan does not support using g! Mobile while the ios Device is docked in ipod music dock or other cradle. Certain Media Sources: Some media sources may not have an interface compatible with g! Mobile. Screen Saver: Photo Screen saver function is not available in g!mobile. Custom Display Settings: The g!mobile app does not support the use of custom Display Settings (color schemes, etc) at this time. TTS/WAV Announcements & Pop Message: g!mobile will not announce Security Events or WAV/TTS event maps, and is not compatible with the Pop Message feature. Home Pages (iphone/ipod Touch): iphone and ipod Touch will not display Home Pages. Video Tab Audio: Audio from supported Video Cameras is not available in g!mobile. Event Map Options: Event Map options available on normal touch screens (Jump To Screen, for example) are not available in g!mobile. Interface Options: Zone Grouping and Default Tab interface options are not supported in g!mobile. Page 2 of 5

Graphic/Art Browsing: In some instances due to speed limitations, g!mobile will not display graphics for interfaces that normally feature cover art or other graphic browsers. For example, Satellite Radio and HC Player Music Library>Album view will not display art in the g!mobile app. INSTALLATION AND BASIC USE g! Mobile may be downloaded for free through the Apple App Store in the Lifestyle section under the name g!mobile. You may either use the App Store icon on an internet connected ios Device, or use itunes on your PC to locate the application. Some search strings to locate the app include g!mobile, or Elan. Once you have located g! Mobile, follow the prompts in the App Store to install the program, and if using itunes, sync the application to your device. Following install, the program may be launched by tapping the black and orange g! icon: When launched, the program will display a Connection Type button that allows you to toggle between Local and Remote connections. Local will attempt to find local controllers via the WiFi connection on the local network. Tapping Remote will disable the local WiFi search and allow you to enter the System Name and Password to connect to a remote system either via WiFi with an internet connection or thru the 3G/EDGE cellular networks. The last login used will automatically be retained by the app. Updates for g! Mobile will be automatically provided through the App Store. Page 3 of 5

CUSTOM CONTROLS Many custom controls are available to dealers when building interfaces in the g! System, however not all of them will currently display correctly within g! Mobile. To use any of the compatible controls on a custom tab or interface, make sure you create the interface in the 240x320 resolution for iphone/ipod Touch, and 800x600 for ipad. iphone Rotation Special Note: Though generally all interfaces will rotate and auto-arrange the 240x320 Custom Tab/Interface into a landscape view on demand, you must create an additional interface on the 320x240 resolution option for Custom Video Tabs only. This allows you to maximize the size of the screen and make the best arrangement for both orientations. g!mobile Compatible Custom Controls Audio Button Light Rocker Control (One-Way) Audio Keypad (ex. COMMON MISTAKES 1. Trying to connect to a local system with insufficient licenses. The g!controller must have a Viewer license available for an ios Device to connect locally via WiFi. The Not supported by Lock Configuration message indicates you are out of Viewer seats. 2. Creating/using interfaces without settings on the correct resolution. The iphone/ipod Touch uses the 240x320 resolution. The ipad uses the 800x600 resolution. 3. Trying to connect to a g! Controller without a WiFi connection or the correct WiFi connection. When attempting to connect to local systems over WiFi or remote systems over WiFi with internet, ensure you are actually connected by looking for the radio icon at the top of the screen. Also ensure you are connected to the correct SSID if there are multiple WiFi networks available at your location. 4. Trying to connect to a remote system that is on the Relay Server when the ios device is using cellular networks. The Relay Server is a backup method of connection and will always be slower and less reliable than a direct (ports open) connection. Combining the slow speed of Relay Server with Cellular connection typically will result in a connection too slow for acceptable use. In all cases where cellular networks will be used, the g!system should have proper ports open for best results. 5. Incorrect System Name or Password. If you are connecting to a remote system, you must enter the full System Name, and both System Names and Passwords are case sensitive. Page 5 of 5
