OPTICAL FIBER ADAPTERS Optical Fiber adapters are mechanical devices which allow two connectors to be coupled. They are to be used in conjunction with optical fiber connector modules, outlets and patch panels. Adapters come in several versions : identical connections (e.g. ST to ST) hybrid connections (e.g. ST to SC) simplex or duplex with fixed attenuation multimode and singlemode Simplex adapters are preferred to be used for the Alcatel outlets.
