1. Starting up To start the application, double-click on the icon on your desktop or press the «Start» button and select Programs The Online Trader KBC Securities Trader. Login window The first time you start the application, a login window called «Setup» appears. Please type your provider ID (type 0 if you do not know this), user name and password and then press OK. This information is required for the application and market data information to run (notice that there is a separate login for trading). Create Workspace The first time you start the application, a dialog box appears asking if you want to create an automatic Workspace*. If you answer "Yes" to this, a standard** workspace which includes quotes, news, charts and a trade ticker is created. Note that the automatic workspace consists of multiple pages (see Chapter 2). * A "Workspace" is your working screen which includes different windows with market data and functionality. ** The automatically created workspace checks the market data permission on your user account and your computer settings to create the workspace. If your regional settings define your location to Germany and you have permission for the Xetra market, the workspace with the Xetra market will be created as the main market on the first page. 2. Workspace and Folders A workspace contains several windows with market data and functionality tailored to suite your personal needs. A workspace may contain several pages. You may at any time add other market data windows, news windows, charts etc as well as customizing colours, fonts and window sizes. Save your personalized workspace as described in chapter 2.2. Notice that each window you open requires more bandwidth from your internet connection. Intraday charts showing the longest period available («All») with minute resolution are among the heavier windows to load when starting up and you should therefore consider a shorter time period (for example 10 days) or lower resolution (for example a quarter) if there are many, many intraday charts in your default workspace. Multiple pages At the bottom left corner of your workspace, different pages are displayed. The pages work in a similar way as worksheets in Microsoft Excel. When saving the workspace, all pages are stored in the workspace file. To switch between the pages use the mouse or press the keyboard buttons «Alt»+1, «Alt»+2, etc. Adding a page To add a page, right-click on the page button and select «Add page». Please note that you cannot remove a page located between two pages, only the page to the far right may be removed. The page must be emptied before it is removed. Saving the Workspace To save the workspace, select File Save Workspace as Default or File Save Workspace as The default workspace is the workspace which will automatically load the next time you open the application.
